What about all those signers-of-petitions everywhere, the ones who sometimes show up, in serried ranks of names, in full page ads in The Times, or in letters (with a dozen -- presumably the most impressive -- names listed, with the less impressive rest relegated to the anonymity of "and other 238 signatories" at the end) published in The New York Review of Books.

The violence and virulence may not be stopped, but it would be heartening to see, every so often, just the tiniest squeak, from other than the Anti-Defamation League or the Wiesenthal Center, or some other Jewish group, a protest at this kind of speech, enthusiastically clapper-clawed by tens, apparently, of millions. Wouldn't it? Just a letter, in The New York Review, signed by those "intellectuals." Or just a page in The Times. Just once in a while? Just a little something?

And elsewhere in the world, China continues its 50 year genocide of Tibet; its people, culture and religion.

1. Cue the apologists who argue that "the cleric's views do not reflect the view of the majority of Muslims".

2. Cue the apologists who argue that the cleric's views are "totally contrary to the loving/peaceful teachings of the Qur'an".

3. Cue the apologists who instead of condemning the cleric, instead condemn those who have reported on the cleric and his views.

4. Cue the apologists who condemn those who quote directly from authoritative Islamic sources, to demonstrate that the cleric's views are justified within an Islamic context.

Too often we miss great opportunities to educate the public about the true nature of Islam. Al-Zarad's tirade should be copied, and handed out on university campuses, along with other quotes from other high-profile Islamic clerics, including their death Fatwas.

There wouldn't be any need for commentaries -- and in fact, there shouldn't be. Just hand them out as they are.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of Islamic appologists and Muslim student centers.

I remember vaguely, just prior to the Six Day War in 1967, the Arabs were broadcasting something similar, except "spit" was replaced with "piss".

Well, we all know what happened then.

No doubt Hollywood will insist that it cover the wars Washington and Jefferson had with Islamic pirates, and the Islamic justification given for their piracy; which of course is the same explanation they give today for their 'terrorism': the words of the prophet.

Perhaps they could include this guy's speech, scrolling down the screen, in the intro.

Unfortunately, it will most likely become some U.N. Islamist twit's dream of a propaganda piece: actors from the west encouraging the west to be more sensitive and understanding.

Also, it is not proper to make a theological doctrine out of one verse by assuming that this single verse eclipses other passages stating that Christ is God. The context of this particular comment made by Jesus was that He was speaking as a man to His God. Remember, Jesus is both God and man, second person of the Trinity, the word made flesh (John 1:1,14); and since He was both divine and man, as a man He would naturally, and properly say that His Father was the only True God. He was not denying His own divinity, but affirming the trueness of God.

The truth is that Jesus was a man made under the Law (Gal. 4:4), and as a man He would be subject to God. Only in this case, Jesus was subject to the Father. That is why Jesus called the Father the only true God; but in no way is it a phrase that excludes Christ, for Christ Himself said "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58), and Jesus did NOT deny being called God by Thomas in John 20:28.

Of course, some people simply state that John 17:3 cannot allow for Jesus being God, but the simple fact is that Jesus is called God by God and others. Therefore, the whole of scripture must be harmonized.

Fourth, this verse reflects the sonship of Jesus. The Father and the Son have a unique relationship. Jesus is the eternal Son. The terms Father and Son denote a relationship which is why God is called the God of the Son in 2 Cor. 11:31.

Fifth, Jesus identifies Himself with the Father. Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Jesus (John 10:38). Jesus is one with the Father (John 10:30). They are not divided in essence. So, in one sense Jesus is in the Father and if the Father is the only true God, then Jesus is the True God.

Also, in 1 John 5:20, Jesus is called the only true God: "And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life."

I think you guys are not understanding my position. Firstly I'm in no way suggesting that Jesus mistreated woman. Nor did Moses, nor did Muhammed, may peace be upon them all. But the thing is, from the moment I came on this website I've heard how The Quran calls for mistreatment of woman and killing and war.... and so on, but thats not the case at all.
I've sat here and I have not come across ONE person who has proven something, which is detrimental to society or to woman.

I know that you weren't blaming Jesus for mistreating women - I was simply trying to redirect your attention towards Christ and away from generalizations about the Bible concerning women, because one of the things that I love about Jesus is that women are "joint-heirs with Christ" in heaven - something I seriously doubt that Muslim heaven would dare condescend to.

Everything you stated about the Qur'an, Muhammad, etc, etc. - Well - we will just have to agree to disagree, because you see it one way, while I and others see it another; and your point about other religions having weird issues concerning women is very valid; but Hindus, last I checked, are not the frontrunners on performing acts of terrorism.

Please note, that as a Christian, I do not subscribe to any faith that is not founded on Christ, so I'm not just picking on Islam alone; but having said that, Islam stands alone as not just a "religion", but as a governmental system and ideology bent on taking away my God given freedoms, which puts Islam in a class by itself.

Actually, my pastor has never mentioned Islam once in the 4 1/2 years I've been attending his church - nor does he mention other faiths in a negative light either, because he's too busy covering Christ crucified and what the Bible teaches.

I have learned about Islam from other sources though, not just Jihad Watch, and that's how I've become aware of the key differences between our faith; and I have read that Muslims don't believe in the Trinity, so I can see why that would be a difficult issue to embrace. But isn't it true that you don't believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead either? So you see, we really don't believe the same thing, because that is a key belief to being a Christian:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

And...

"Jesus saith unto him: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me." John 14:6.
