VIENNA (AFP) - An Austrian court on Wednesday sentenced a married couple to 22 months and four years in jail for posting a video on the Internet calling for attacks in Austria and Germany.
Mona S, a 21-year-old Austrian, and her 22-year-old Egyptian-born husband Mohamed M, were found guilty of "belonging to a terrorist organisation" with links to Al-Qaeda, trying to blackmail the Austrian government and inciting a crime.
The main defendant, Mohamed M., was given a four-year term while his wife was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
Then, what steps will Austrian authorities take to ensure they do not pose a threat in the country again?
Mona S. had translated the video, which was signed "Global Islamic Media Front", into German. It contained threats to target the European Football Championships, which Austria is hosting with Switzerland in June, as well as Austrian and foreign politicians.
Austrian detectives hunting the authors of the file traced the computers that were used by the accused. The computers were used to access the Ministry of Defence homepage, from which they allegedly downloaded the photos that were found on the video.
The video was posted in March last year in an attempt to force Austria and Germany to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan.
The Vienna court had excluded the young Muslim woman from the opening of her trial, after she refused to take off her black head-to-toe veil.
On arrival in the court she declared that "there are too many men here."
The presiding judge ordered she be escorted out of the courtroom, arguing that the jury could not judge her credibility without seeing her entire face.
Mohamed M., for his part, said around 100 people were involved in an Internet forum of the Front, which he said was "the sole media organisation which tells the truth."
But he admitted to lying in chat discussions on the site by passing off his father as a "retired terrorist" and claiming an old football injury to be a battle scar from Iraq.

Time for the Austrians - and the rest of the infidel world - to do what the Brazilians do to undesirables such as these - deport them after their prison sentences, and if they return - SHOOT THEM.

The judge in this case barred the wife from reading her statement while wearing the burka and pointed out that "persons with a in front of their face are relatively difficult to understand." Poor, misunderstood Mohammed Mahmout didn't like that at all and went all crazy before the sentencing ...

Hanging is too good for them. It lets them claim martyrdom. The pig farm is a good idea. Talk about life imprisonment! To paraphrase Marie Antoinette: let them eat pork! Is that enough to scare a Muslim straight? Hide a few bacon bits in their food. They won't be able to taste it but with every meal they will break their own laws.

I think that out of curiosity or pressure she downloaded the islamic software program, which then proceeded to totally deactivate her western software program, rewiring her brain. Bascially, thanks to the new software, the "why should I obey Islam" part of her brain is no longer accessed or opperational.

Can't say as I blame her. The court didn't know that Mona S. was a bare naked lady beneath her burqa, and that it is the only garment that she owns, per her husband's inspired command.
To Xero G, I would hope that Mona S. could at least be given an orange burqa to wear. It will be hard enough for her to share prison space with filthy kuffir women, even if they are of Austrian (Master Race) persuasion.

Why do some women wear t-shirts of murdering thug Ghe Guevara? Why do some women become penpals with serial killers? Why do women stay in abusive relationships?
The sad fact is that some women find "badness" a sexual turn on. Some haven't had daddies to take their boyfriends aside and give them the you'll-respect-my-little-girl-or-else talk (derived the ancient Western version of an "honor killing" which is 180 degrees different from the Islamic version) and thus they have a warped understanding of love and respect in relationships. And I think for some there's a lot of ego wrapped up in the idea that they have to wear a bag over their head so they don't drive men into a sexual frenzy.
I'm with you. I don't see the logic in converting to Islam. As far as I can tell, it mandates that women be treated like dirt in this life and promises that most of them will fare even worse in the next. If my afterlife is pretty much guaranteed to be hell no matter what, then for now I'd just as soon choose the option most likely to avoid a hell on earth, thank you very much.
But I'd be the among first to say that many women don't allow logic to enter their decision making. Especially when it comes to luuuuuuuuuv.

If you're referring to Mona S., she's an Austrian citizen of Arab descent. She translated the video from Arabic into German. Interestingly, according to the BBC, they are only married under Shariah law, and not Austrian law.
