Thai Muslims protested also. Thus the headline on this Reuters story is "Asian Muslims protest against Danish cartoons," which in British media Newspeak would be "Asian Asians."
In any case, I am not sure what blocked roads in Multan would do to prevent the horror of cartoonists in Denmark drawing Muhammad -- but of course this is just one more attempt by these thugs to frighten the West into doing the bidding of its would-be Sharia masters.
From Reuters (thanks to Twostellas):
MULTAN, Pakistan (Reuters) - Hundreds of students burnt tires and blocked roads in the eastern Pakistani city of Multan on Wednesday in protest at the reprinting in Danish newspapers of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad last month."All Muslims should fight for Islam," student leader Imran Liaquat told the crowd.
Muslim anger at the satirical cartoons, which first erupted in 2005, sparked a similar protest in Bangkok, the Thai capital where 400 Muslims marched to the Danish embassy to register their discontent.
Dozens of police blockaded the embassy gates as the crowd chanted anti-Danish slogans, burnt a Danish flag and stamped on pictures of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen before dispersing peacefully.
Oh, they dispersed peacefully. Well, then, no worries.
At least 50 people have been killed in protests against the publication of the cartoons, which Muslims say are an affront to Islam....
Killed by whom?
The cartoons are just an excuse to express violent disapproval of Infidels. Islam is all about hating people, for which there are always excuses. That's why appeasement never works.
We need more Motoons...
Hey, Muslims: all this "rage" is bad for your health. Just think where the Muslim world could be at this point in history if you had devoted all that energy to something useful, like building your own societies. But it's always easier to take what someone else has already built. Too bad, for you. You're at the center of the world. You could have so much. But all you do is complain that someone abuses your "prophet". I thought you didn't worship people, that Allah was all. Why all this fuss over a medieval warlord?
Killed by whom?
Not only by whom, but why? Allah or Mohammad should have left instructions on how to conduct a safe riot. Gandhi got pretty good at it, maybe muslims should study him rather than Hitler. Hitler never conducted a safe riot in his life.
One of these moderate muslims we keep hearing about should write a little book for muslims called,
'The Muslims Handbook of Safe and Sane Rioting'.
It should be required reading before any muslim is given his riot permit. I don't think all muslims are interested in rioting, but for the ones that are, they need to read that book, and undergo sensitivity training prior to rioting. It will save lives...
sssshhhh! Don't tell them the toons weren't really printed. It was just a rumor. Carry on.
Oh my God! Please, please don't block any more roads in, uh, uh, Muton, no, uh, Multan, yes, Multan. Please no more roads. We can't take any more of that. Europe will be near collapse. Deal? No blocked roads, no cartoons. OK?

and today's Dilbert at

Actually, Dilbert has been running for a few days focused on some corporate employee "Jesus" (pronounced "HAY-SUS") working various silly miracles.
I guess we can look forward to the riots, tire-and-car-burnings and death threats from Fundamentalist Christians!
Edit the Pearls and Dilbert cartoons to refer to Mohammed instead of Jesus and all hell would indeed break loose!
Lets face it, Christians may not like some of the irreverant misuse of Jesus in our media, and some examples are even highly offensive, but we take this type of stuff in stride. At worst, its the down-side of our basic freedoms.

More Motoons! More teddy bears called "Mohammed"!
How can we take Islam seriously?
Grow up, work for a living and get over yourself!
It's hard to verify a Pakistani protest without the "Rage Boy" seal of authenticity.

If "Fitna" ever gets screened we'll really see some rage.
IFL,
If we thought these Motoons riots were bad, wait till Geert releases Fitna.
Ahh, the soothing, gentle sounds of the passive voice.

Motoon rage is strictly minor league stuff because it's so 2006. Fitna rage will be the big leagues since it'll be a brand new product. It will be interesting to see how the madness progresses in each country and the reactions to it. I just hope some countries will use the force necessary to stop that madness.
Burning tires? Now that's a productive thing to do with ones time, and it certainly conveys a message of 'peace', the same overal message that's reflected in Islam. /sarc off
Of course, little do they realize that they are only PROVING the whole point of the Motoon by acting in a riotous way.
I wonder if they would behave differently if there was a 'heart' drawn on top of Muhammad's head? Would that generate demonstrations of love instead?
Nah.

Unless your name is Hillary Clinton, that is. A person can get fired for using the "M" word (monster) when referring to Ms. Clinton.
Since the alleged faux pas of the motoons is the violation of no images of mo. Since the Pearls before swine and Dilbert strips don't actually show pictures of Jesus, they would be ok if you replaced Jesus with Mohammed.
I could be wrong.
I'm wondering if any of the Fitna protesters are going to actually see the film before going on a murderous rampage of peace when it comes out.
Since it's the Imams job to tell his flock of parishioners when they are offended, there's no need for them to actually look at the offending item.
walterc,
> Since the Pearls before swine and Dilbert
> strips don't actually show pictures of Jesus,
>they would be ok if you replaced Jesus with
> Mohammed.
> I could be wrong.
Yes, I think you could be wrong. There is a character in the strip named Jesus who is parodying the gospel in a business environment.
In today's strip, Wally plays "Judas" and offers to point out "Jesus" for "Forty shares of stock." Judas' actual payment was 30 pieces of silver, but the parallel is clear.
Do you think for a minute that Scott Adams could introduce a character called "Mohammed", and then parody Mohammed's life in this manner without igniting Moslem outrage???
Yes, I think you could be wrong.
How amazing is it that all the problems in the lives of the Asian Muslims are otherwise taken care of?
I mean the cartoons in a nation on the other side of the world in a language most likely do not speak is their most pressing problem.
Actually, Islamicists have spread this cartoon well far and wide past the circulation it would have ever gotten. The followers of Mohammed have made certain that more people have seen this cartoon that so offends, than any non-Muslims have....
Never mind all that.

Reuters, your story is incomplete. You didn't publish the cartoons.
I find such shoddy journalism "offensive".
I demand that immediately publish the cartoons (and of course you must punish the publisher for not publishing them in the first place).
You cannot ignor the demands of 4.5 billon infidels!
If we must, we will have world-wide temper tantrums, er, I mean demonstrations to show how offended we are.
How do you expect us to understand the story if you don't show the cartoons?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! waaaaaaaaaaaaa!
