Almost a year ago, in this video, I said this of the "Obama-Is-Secretly-A-Muslim" rumors: "That's a lot of hooey."
That, of course, didn't stop the Washington Post (and specifically, its reporter Perry Bacon, Jr.) from completely misrepresenting my words about Obama in this column, so as to claim that I was one of the originators of the rumor. I contacted the WaPo ombudsman, Deborah Howell, about this, and although she was kind and sympathetic, no correction or retraction was ever forthcoming.
Anyway, the point here is that in all the excitement over Obama's pastor Jeremiah Wright's hatin' on America, as he himself might put it, the Obama-Is-A-Muslim story seems to have evanesced like the summer dew. Now everyone knows Obama is a member of Wright's church, and no one is happy about it.
In any case, I do still think that the identification Obama evidently feels with the Islamic world, and they with him, because of his connections to the Islamic world even if he isn't a Muslim, will lead to disastrous concessions that could seriously imperil U.S. security. Or, that is to say, they would have led to such. But now it is even clearer that I was right all along, and Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee. This has nothing to do with Jihad Watch, but anyway I am so sure of this that if Obama is nominated by the Democrats, I will eat my hat in downtown Los Angeles -- that is, if I can get hold of a hat made of pretzels before the convention.

Verily, thou art a Prophet.
Super delegate and ABC News person Donna Brazille stated that she understands Rev. Wright since her grandparents and great-grandparents were slaves.
I'll join you in eating a hat if her grandparents were slaves. And I would make a guess that her great-grandparents weren't slaves either. Unless they were procreating into a very old age.
How long ago did the US civil war end? 1865? Over 140 years ago.
The week before 9/11 Newsweek magazine had a photo of a young college student holding a sign that said "My grandparents were slaves". I remember it because my thought then was, wow, her grandparents must have been very old when they had children. The article was about reparations for slavery. And it said that any and all blacks are entitled. How many generations back will this go? Does that include Obama? And all the other immigrants from the Carribean and from various African countries in the past century?
Marxist liberation theology from the Obamameister and his paster.
And yes Robert, you were right.
This guy is going down almost as fast as Bear Stearns (thogh his going down relieves one and the loss of a financial institution is not cause for happiness).
The more one studies the brief career of Barack Obama, the less there is to be found there. What, after all, shall we judge him on? Shall it be the fact that, once academic merit was no longer the sole or even main criterion, he was elected -- as an amiable and friendly fellow, capable of listening with judicious mien to various sides -- and by all accounts "just a great guy" -- president of the Harvard Law Review, when a few years before, had that academic merit been the main or even the sole criterion, he would not have had a chance?
Shall it be that he went off to join Sidley & Austin, having found -- as so many do -- the work in a big firm taxing and not to his liking, and left after two years, which in the careful campaign re-telling of his life's story, becomes not someone simply desiring to get out from under the rigors of life as a junior associate in a big and hard-driving law firm, but rather, someone who was always interested singlemindedly in "helping people." For some reason the very large number of associates who, having endured a year or two or four of big-firm life, leave that big-firm (and sometimes law) altogether, discovering it is not for them, do not present themselvfes as motivated by lofty motives, but rather, willingly admit that they didn't like that life, or didn't wish to work those 80-hourf weeks. Not Obama: for him it is always presented as a Higher Calling.
Shall we judge him on the basis of his six years, -- or was it seven? -- in the Illinois State Legislature, where he apparently had no legislation of his own, but in his last year, the new head of the Illinois Legislature, a man who had taken an interest in pushing the career of Barack Obama, made sure that legislation that had been crafted by, worked on by, others for months and years, was attached to the name "Barack Obama" so that he could be given credit?
Shoudl we judge him on the basis of his having been in the Senate for not much more than two years, and in that time, having distinguished himself not at all?
Should we judge him on the basis of his deciding, when he had no good reason other than o'erweening ambition, and an unjustified sense of his own destiny and worth that he apparently believed justified many in overlooking the extraordinary thinness of his experience -- essentially that of a "community organizer" representing a most unrepresentative part of southside Chicago -- and the thinness, not only of his political experience, but of his mental preparation.
For aside from the inspirational platitudes, what has Barack Obama learned about the world? He seems to confuse personal biography (his father, who decamped when Obama was two, was Kenyan; he spent a few years as a child in Indonesia) with the need to study up on the world. This he not done, the way for example that Churchill, when he was out of office, studied men and events, including men and events in the past.
Shall we judge him on the basis of the people he chose as his "advisers" in foreign policy? If so, then Zbigniew Brzezinski, who has entered history as Carter's National Security adviser, and that means two things: the quite-unnecessary loss of Iran to the Khomeini fanatics, by the crazy misreading of Khomeini (a "fellow man of faith" as Carter oozily described him), and the abandonment of the Shah (admittedly vainglorious and with a corrupt court, but compared to Khomeini, the Shah was Churchill, the Shah was Abraham Lincoln), and the vicous treatment of Israel, with the hectoring of Begin at Camp David, and the utter indifference, or rather, active hostility, of both Brzezinski and Carter to Israel, perhaps to some not quite as obvious as it has become in the years since, their indifference to Israel's legal, historic, and moral claims and, not surprisingly, their wilful ignorance of Islam and its much more extravagant claims, not to a tiny strip of territory, but to the entire world, which must everywhere succumb, in the end, to dominance by Islam, and to Muslim rule, even if some non-Muslims will be allowed to continue to exist, under conditions that 1350 years of history indicate are those of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity.
And along with Brzezinski, there is Samantha Power, who made her name, and academic fortune, on the basis of her interest in "genocide" and specifically, the mass-murder in Darfur, but like that other beneficiary of the Darfur murdres, Samantha Power has stayed well away from attempting to understand the Arab supremacism within Islam that justifies, and explains, the Arab killing of black Africans -- indeed, she is quick to describe the Darfur situation as "Muslims killing Muslims" as a way to absolve Islam of any conceivable role, for she still has no idea that Islam is, and always has been, a vehicle for Arab imperialism (see the Kurds, see the Berbers, see see see), for she is fixated on the fact of "genocide" and unable, in a specific case, to point to its ideological promptings. Her other views, including those that show she has no idea what Israel faces -- a Lesser Jihad that has no end, but can be contained through deterrence, and that deterrence requires that Israel not only be, but be perceived to be, overwhelmingly stronger, than those who would wish to destroy it -- have been taken apart by others, and need not be repeated here.
And then there is Anthony Lake, but since he has been in semi-retirement in the Berkshires, one hardly knows if his is only a name added, as a respectable afterthought, to the list of Obama "advisers." And then there is Robert Malley, whose Syrian background may possibly help to explain his decades of work on behalf of the cause of undermining Israel, and though the usual soft-headed but of course "Jewish" supporters -- the indyks and rosses and millers -- signed a letter in stout support of Robert Malley, it is they, rather, for their continuing misunderstanding of what prompots Arab Muslim opposition to Israel, and their professional careers spent entirely on Arab-Israeli "peace-processing" that is based, fatally, on a continued, by this point wilful ignorance of the texts and tenets and atttitudes of Islam, that make their testimony on behalf of Malley, and indeed their own understading of things, essentially pointless, even worthless.
And we are told it is impermissible to judge Barack Obama by the man who became his surrogate father, his pastor, his introducer into the greater world of southside Chicago politics, impermissible to listen to the harangues and rants of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and draw our own conclusions about him, but we are expected to believe that in nearly 20 years of attending Rev. Wright's church, of having him officiate at one's marriage and at the baptism of one's children, of having called him repeateldy a mentor, a guide, an everything, that the nature of Rev. Wright's sermons, and the quality of min that those sermons -- ex ungue leonem, even one such sermon or two or three will do -- reveal, must be ignored. And we are further expected to believe every kind of implausible tale: that Barack Obama never, in his nearly 20 years of church-going, ever heard such things. Or, in the alternative, perhaps he did hear such stuff but he never approved it. Or, now that there is evidence that he was present at such sermon-giving, and also that he nodded his head in approval, no doubt we will be told that the head-nodding was merely a sign not of approval, but of Sunday-morning sleepiness, or something.
There's a limit to this. That limit has been reached. Those who thought they could somehow validate themselves, prove how wonderful and "post-racial" they were by voting for Barack Obama, have another think coming. Instead, they might try, more soberly, to vote for the candidate whose policies have been most clearly and, in detail, laid out, and which that particular voter thinks, all in all, are likely to accord most with his sense of what needs to be done.
So far, by process of elimination, those of us entirely uninterested in proving -- or even thinking we have to prove -- that we are "post-racial" (and this word is associated with, promoted by, a campaign that is, in a dozen different sly ways, all about race, both for its appeal to bloc-voting by black voters, and in its disinenguous appeal to white voters to prove to themselves their own moral fitness (for use), by allowing themselves to be used by the Obama campaign.
A minute of listening to Jeremiah Wright ought to be enough. It ought to be more than enough.
Correction of analogy: The Obamameister is going down as fast as the ex governor of N.Y.
Why ?
Because his hypocrisy is apparent: you can preach hope and hope for the future all you want, but if it is based on Black Marxist Liberation Theology it is racist, exclusive, and deceptive.
Like with Spitzer, the hypocrisy is apparent.

I don't think the Rev Wright's bigoted remarks about his own country will hurt him with Democratic primary voters...in many respects, such views are consonant with the Liberal narrative.
I also don't believe that Obama will be denied his party's nomination...doing so at this point will almost surely precipitate a massive black boycott of the general election.
Mustard is very tasty on pretzel-hats Robert.
Obama still has rock solid support among young liberals(who actually love that "God Damn America!" shit) and African Americans.
And it gets worse the Democratic establishment(Reid, Pelosi and Dean) have thrown their support behind Obama and are trying to deep six Hillary.
In short his political demise is far from assured at this date. If he loses Penn by a large percentage it could change, if not. He may be the Democratic nominee.
You mean...We are not the people we have been waiting for? What a bummer...oh well, back to the drawing board...
Question: If liberals give up Barack, do they have to give up swooning as well?
"Marxist liberation theology" is an array of militant, Orwellian, feelings based religions that worship power government and promote separatism based on every categorization that can be dreamed up, while denouncing personal property rights as "social injustice". It's a perfect example of Gramscian influence on American society, with Wright as one of the "Theologians of Justice". Despite Wright's protestations, it's pretty hard to see much of a difference in tone between "KKK" theology and the good reverend's. The biggest difference between the two, as a practical matter, is that liberation theologians have an army of "academics" (and I use that word loosely) and whining media personalities theorizing and publishing "scholarly" articles that support their world view.
Setting aside the fact that both Obamas went to some of best schools in the nation, the fact that their combined income is reported around $500000/yr, not counting earnings on Barack's book, make reports of their oppression and new her found "pride" in the country pretty hard to stomach.
It's scary to think what some of these deeply caring people would do if they had to face real obstacles in life.
Obama's economic "policy", such as it is, goes far beyond killing "the goose that laid the golden egg", to potentially wiping out the whole farm.
When we do elect a black president, and it will happen, let's do it based on his/her record of policy and political ideology, not to assuage some collective "white guilt". Isn't that what being equal is all about?
To do anything less is racist.
waltc is correct. As far as hardcore demoncrats go, this is like throwing ping-pong balls at a tank. Leftists are such bastions of truth and integrity! The good news is that now Obamanation dosn't have a chance of winning the presidency if he gets the demoncratic nomination. Gives me a real good feeling down deep.
I'm still puzzled by the American obsession of 'Who?' instead of 'What?'. Here in Europe the media fortunately backs a bit down from that on our own politicians - but when it comes to US elections, all we get is "Hillary, Obama, McCain" - usually in that sequence, the bias stinks.
At least it's good to see one of the most stupid memes of the campaign being tossed to the dustbin.
But in a way, it really doesn't matter who gets elected, as long as the new president will do sensible things that are good for America and the world.
Which is why it's better to focus on the issues at hand, confront the various candidates with issues, issues, issues. This is not a coronation, this is an election, and we need to know how they'd react to various more or less hypothetical challenges. That, in turn, should make it clear who's worth voting for.
In other words, the way it runs now bores me, badly...
I am not swayed by Robert's article. I am utterly and profoundly convinced Senator Obama is Muslim and one that is up to no good.
Recently Obama's campaign officers solicited every mosque in the state of Ohio for electioneering purposes (in direct violation of federal law). Since when do Christians do things like solicit mosques for Islamic votes for non-Islamic candidates? And, since when do mosques co-operate with non-muslim Christians on anything, much less doing something illegal to get a non-Muslim elected PRESIDENT of the United States of America?
It would not make sense for a non-Muslim to attempt to do something like this (even a shyster politician like Obama), if only because it could backfire with the mosque going to the authorities and reporting the politican's deed (the Obama campaigners were caught when their e-mails were intercepted and they were therefore not reported by the mosques). The Obama campaigners seemed to know in advance they were safe and that the mosques would not report their illicit deeds--and I take that as evidence Of Obama's being Muslim (not just Islam-influenced, fully Muslim). These Obama campaigners knew exactly what they were doing.
In addition, Obama addressed a crowd of Muslims and recited the Islamic inshallah ("There is no God but al-lah and muhammad is his meesnger..."). First of all, this is a mortal sin under Christian doctrine for any Christian to say this, as it is putting a deity other than Yahweh as the real Creator--the first commandment makes this Christian law explicitly CLEAR. It is not believable that any Christian would not know that and therefore I must personally reject the view that Muhammad could be a Christian who just didn't know the ten commandments. He's been taught the ten commandmentsmaybe --maybe he just doesn't believe them because he's a Muslim.
Sorry, Robert, but Obama is a Muslim as far as I can see and one that lied to the American people sayign that he is a Christian in order to get the votes.
"If things get really ugly, I will stand with the Muslims"----Barack Obama, "The Audacity of Hope." That's a CHRISTIAN talking????? (no way, Jose).
Robert said
I agree. Obama must be pointedly asked if it is possible for him to criticise Islam, given his personal reasons that would make that difficult. Criticise Islam, not "terrorists", or "extremists", or "unemployed youths", or whatever other euphemisims we can come up with, but Islam itself.
The same question needs to be asked of McCain and Clinton. None of the three has got it right, but we have a right to know much more about their feelings and beliefs about the Religion of Peace. No stealth allowed, even if that means causing some discomfort.
Off topic, since Obama is half black half white, does he pay reparations to himself?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Obama is toast now thanks to Pastor Wright. With friends like that, who needs Hillary?
Obama's blood hath not the tincture of slavery, treehugger.
Regardless - Obama will never get my vote - there are way too many mysteries attached to this candidate.
Correcting the lex-dysia errors in my 12:43 PM post:
'power government' should have been: 'government power'
'new her found "pride"' should have been: 'her new found "pride"'
Do you think that matters, Skevin?
Sadly, the reparations scam artists are trying to boil it down to skin tone = guilt or innocence.
It's REALLY going to be fun when I'm told that I have to pay reparations to my own grandchildren!
/college fund, yes, reparations NO says their Nana.
"Off topic, since Obama is half black half white, does he pay reparations to himself?"
treehugger;
You bet he has, already. Earmarks, to his wife's hospital, and the raise she got, could be connected. Do a search.

"Obama is toast now thanks to Pastor Wright. With friends like that, who needs Hillary?"
alexon;
Obama may "be toast" ,again may, not because of Wright, but because of himself, and the 19 years, 11 months, 29 days, 23 hours, he was at that church. One hour will be allowed in his favor. His wife gets a free pass.
OOOOOO
There is more "bad" about Obama than Wright...

A good final thought found here...
http://www.dakotavoice.com/2008/03/how-much-of-rev-wrights-opinions-did.html
Time to change your mind in 08?
Now that it has become clear who Obamas core supporters are. The question becomes how many Rats will avoid anymore of the Pied Pipers Tunes, jumping ship to Clinton's Rag Time Band?
Has Obama preached "change" so much because he knew deep down in his heart knew many would change their MINDS?
The dreamy Barack Obama will "Lift Up" America (not "tear down"), with a "New Approach" and "Smart Policies" to "Bring Together" the people, and "Stand up" for what's "Right" and he will "Do the Heavy Lifting" to "Get the Job Done", with "Better Judgement" and will "Energize" the country to "Do what's Right" in "Making the Hard Decisions" to "Move Forward" into a "Brighter Tomorrow" with butterflies and rainbows and unicorns and...
Barrack Hussein is the Manchurian/Islamic candidate. He is the Islamic plant, financed and supported by the ummah, and since they're at war with us (always have been) this would be the ultimate stab right at the heart of America. The Bommah sez he has been a 'Christian' since 20 years, but this black racist, supremacist church is anything but Christian, and they are closely associated with the NOI and Luis Farraklan. Besides, what was O'bommah doing for the 20 years before he became a Christian?
Even his Muslim grandmother in Kenya is lying and calls herself 'Christian' now just to help his campaign. Where the hell is his mother (this gramscian whore) who made sure he was born in Hawaii (anchorbaby) and not anywhere else? Where is his Kenyan father? Where is his Indonesian stepfather? This guy got more skeletons in the closet than the mafia. How such a shady character could be a runner up for the presidency is incomprehensible.
I think I'll run myself. Think I got a chance?
When I hear 'black president' I always see images of Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe. Does that make me 'racist?'

Everyone forms mental images based on what they've read or seen. It seems reasonable that voting based on color instead of articulated policy and demonstrated capability is racist regardless of what colors are involved and whether the vote is for or against.
Since there isn't a policy or capability trail behind Obama to follow, all I have left to form my opinion on are his words, his wife's words, and the words of those he associates with. For me, the reverend Wright seems a little to sympathetic to left wingnuts like this:
The United States needs to be invaded - not just invaded - occupied.
Which makes me very suspicious of Obama. If some over sensitive leftist thinks that makes me racist, tough. I'm not about to vote for policy that moves us closer to a system that has been repeatedly demonstrated not to work, just so just so leftists can feel good about themselves for a day.
Besides, they'd be whining about something else tomorrow.
Another telling story...

Te line from the "church" so far is "out of context" in replaying Wright's statements. However, now they have seen fit to "change", or hide the message, that they proudly displayed before.
Why ,if it has all been taken "out of context"?
I think I'll run myself. Think I got a chance?

Why not - but you'll want to dress the part with a moniker like that:

sheik,
If I was an American, I'd vote for you!
A friend of my uncle was recently in Egypt and then Israel. She told him that in Egypt lots of people asked why America is willing to vote in a Muslim. When she got to Israel and was repeatedly asked the same questions, she began to wonder. If THEY consider him a muslim. . .
Another link, another problem to deal with.

Information to support truth..
Somehow, having to choose between Obama, Clinton and McCain is like voting in an election where the 3 parties available are Hamas, Hizbullah and Islamic Jihad.
So the Empty Suit has a "Made in AmeriKKKa" label?
People somehow overlooked the Empty Suit part.
Barack can now go back to Chicago and wonder why he hung onto a racist fool of a pastor for so long.
He'll have the rest of his life to puzzle it over.
With Michelle's tender guidance.
I pray you are right!! I can't stand Hillary but she is by far the lesser of the two evils. This thing has actually had me so worried...the thought of Obama becoming president...scary.
