NORRISTOWN, Penn. — A Muslim woman pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder for killing her bigamist husband in August, hours before he was to leave for Morocco to visit his new, second wife.
Myra Morton, 48, was upset about the marriage and her husband's plans to have children with the younger woman, authorities say. She admitted shooting her husband Jereleigh Morton, 47, twice in the head while he slept, and initially blamed an intruder.
She faces from five to 20 years in prison when she is sentenced, defense lawyer Brian McMonagle said.
"I don't think there's any question in anybody's mind that the act was intentional," McMonagle said. "We have always maintained that it was based on a lot of passion, and it was caused by the emotional turmoil that she was going through."
The Mortons converted to Islam about 20 years ago. Jereleigh Morton met his second wife, 37-year-old Zahra Toural, last year on the Internet, prosecutors said. Myra Morton traveled to Morocco to meet Toural and bless the marriage, but police say she grew to resent the arrangement.

If this is how 'Islam elevates women', then what would qualify as degrading?
Is this an indication that Islam may find Western women a hard sell for some of its more "exotic" wares?

well, the woman was probably from the ghetto and obviously knew how to handle a gun..now they need to check the gun to discover if it can be used to solve some unsolved crimes..it wouldn't surprise me if they find something..
Well, at least we know we won't be paying wellfare payments to support Jereleigh Morton's brood, but I wonder how many others we're paying for.

You watch too much CSI. You act as if a high percentage of American homes do not have guns. Wake up and smell the roses.
I wonder if she will remain a Muslim now that she has seen how women are treated?
Wouldn't it be grand if the judge, as part of her sentencing, directed her to conduct 'what Islam really teaches' seminars in local communities.
Wouldn't it be nice for potential reverts to learn, from her own experience, about polygamy in the Muslim community and other 'uplifting' Muslim beliefs and practices.
I wonder what twists of reality the local Muslim community concocted concerning polygamy, and how prevalent it might be in Pennsylvania, USA.
I'm surprised it took ol' Jereleigh 20 years to decide the time was right to take another wife. And a 37 year old, at that! Obviously he wasn't a good muslim, or he would have looked for a much younger wife #2.
So which wife gets his Social Security survivor's benefits? Myra will most likely be out of prison in time to collect.
Mr Morton's demise aside, I have analyzed the situation and can't help but think that somehow the joke is on us.

I don't condemn this woman. She did the right thing. Men are not God, they are human. Women have all the rights as a man on this earth, but it is because men have to control something the treat women with disdain and cruelty, especially in this religion.
Personally I would fight to the death before I would ever put a bag on my head or be covered head to toe just because a man can't control himself. Give me a break, they are as much in control of their desire as a woman. Muslim Men just think they are above the laws of God and justify covering woman as an act of control and cruelty. As a woman, I have lived in Freedom, and my Father taught me I was equal to any human being on this earth male or female and to never let a man treat me as less. Men should not have more than one wife period. They don't want women having more than one husband,they would call them whores. From my viewpoint this man was a whore.
Now this is what I call a true honor killing! Please let the hero free - She should be acquitted, apologized to and thanked for doing the right thing.
