WHEREAS certain elements within Islamic communities have threatened a boycott of Dutch goods if Geert Wilders is not punished by the Dutch government for exercising his freedom of expression; and
WHEREAS certain elements in Dutch industry and the Dutch government are suggesting that Geert Wilders be prosecuted civilly or criminally, in order to prevent such a boycott;
IT IS RESOLVED that, in the event that the Dutch government attempts, in any way, to punish or prosecute Geert Wilders, civilly or criminally, for exercising his freedom of expression, the undersigned will initiate a boycott of any and all Dutch goods.
Sincerely,

Thanks, Robert.
Signed - 1379 signatures already.
Thanks for putting this up.
It's a boycott on the Dutch - not the Danish, darcy.
Don't feel bad though; I lived a year in Switzerland and I still sometimes say "Swedish" when I mean "Swiss."
So no more Gouda substitute on my Panera Ham and Cheese on Rye :-(

Signed it, but I will miss those lovely Dutch Che-Cri Crackers ;o(
Does this mean I'll have to take back all of the Heineken I bought yesterday? Buy Dutch, don't buy Dutch, it's so confusing.
We should all stand behind Geert because he is speaking the truth for all of us!
Hey Elric, thanks for that info!
I went to Diana West site, e-mailed the "loathesome" Director of Unilever Products who has called Geert "evil," as Ms. West "calls" on us to do, informing him that our family is boycotting all Unilever products.
People - you must go to this site and do the same! The only products we'll miss are: Lipton, Wish Bone, Wisk and Skippy.
Big deal. Buy other brands!
People - Ben and Jerry's is on this Product list! We must, and will, resist!
Im not for boycotting the Dutch per say but do boycott the Dutch companies that are trying to strong arm Geert Wilder. Diana has a good list of the companies of Unilever.
All, Axe, Ben and Jerry’s, Bertoli, Breyers, Caress, Degree, Good Humor, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Best Foods, Brooke Bond, Colman’s, Cif, Dove, Glidat Strauss, Heartbrand, Hellmann’s, Imperial Margarine, Knorr, Lipton, Lawry's, Lever 2000, Lipton, Lipton Sides, Slimfast, Snuggle, Suave, Wish Bone, Wisk, Ponds, Popsicle, Promise, Q-Tips, Ragu, Country Crock, Skippy, Pepsodent, Sunsilk, Unox, Vaseline.

darcy,
You are very welcome. I was shocked how many products they have. It will be tough and looks like I will need to carry the list in my wallet just to make sure I dont slip up.

so far its been only the dutch that have produced voices that rail at and ridicule the islamic hate machine and call them on their will to genicide. and they risk their life. it must be a tradition. at some time they will rally around their citizen wilders and really piss islam off. i can't boycot the dutch, because they, perhaps reluctantly, are contributing to the reformation of islam.
Signed and supported. 2K signatures in twenty minutes. Let's hope it keeps grow like this and by tomorrow he'll have over 200K signatures.
Mr. Spencer, please post the signature link in your homepage margin!
The way Ayaan Hirsi ended up being treated in the Netherlands by some government legislatures was a travesty also.
Has there been any polling data of the Dutch people as to their positions on MP Geert Wilders video Fitna??

If that is the case, then let's see the Dutch people light a fire under their political leaders who not only refuse to support Geert Wilders feedom of expression but have chosen to try and prosecute, sue, and condemn him as well for his exercise of free speech which plays for the most part like a news report since it is but a compilation of already seen videos.

Don't be fooled, margheri - Mr Broder is an outspoken columnist - he does not represent the opinion of that magazine, nor, unfortunately, does he represent the opinion of the majority of its readers, or the German MSM.
Meanwhile, in the U.K. there has been a deafening silence about FITNA and the international condemnation thereof in the MSM.
If you only listened to the Beeb, you would have no idea that all this even happened.

This boycott will most likely turn into an international boycott of the European Union the way things are going nowadays. (But I happily signed it, of course).
It will be interesting to see what happens to human rights in the United States vis-a-vis the fate of this documentary and its producer when (but hopefully IF) Senator Obama is elected to the oval office (God forbid that a Muslim like Obama EVER reaches this office in America).
Signed it earlier @924 - The government should know better - none of our rights are for sale especially the right to free expression. Unilever, Philips and Shell would do well to visibly choose sides - wisely recalling which culture historically developed their products vs. which culture has a history of stifing development.
No free society would ever filter their thoughts/ideas through the islamic prism.
I signed the petition, but feel that the threat to boycott Dutch products didn't belong. A strongly worded appeal to Dutch and Western moral values and principles would be more effective.
makie:
i suspect wilders knew he was going to be hung out to dry on this one by his government and attending corporations. all, with the exception of a very few courageous politial leaders will probably be only thinking of their own skins. wilders did not make this stuff up...illuminating hate makes those who hate "very offended". and those "very offended" people get very righteous and very scary.
Pythagoras,
Obama won't get elected. While 75% of Black Americans believe that being connected with Rev. Wright would not detrimentally affect Obama's chances of winning the presidency, 49% of white Americans think it will detrimentally affect his chances. My understanding is that only 12% of the US population is made up of black Americans. The more that stew simmers and thickens, the less likely white Americans will be to vote for a man who supports a radical liberation theology that demands whites make up for past sins against blacks. It is totally uninspiring and except for the hardcore Kool-Aid drinkers in our midst, no one with half a brain is going to stand for voluntary subjection to Rev. Wright, and Obama's, guilt-laden ideology.
Just released: FITNA is going to be edited.
From Drudgereport:
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A Dutch lawmaker whose anti-Quran film drew worldwide condemnations will edit out a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad after complaints of copyright infringement, his office said Monday.
Geert Wilders used the cartoon by Danish artist Kurt Westergaard twice in the film "Fitna." The drawing, which depicts Islam's prophet wearing a bomb-shaped turban with a lit fuse, provoked violent protests in Muslim countries when it was published by European newspapers two years ago.
The Danish Union of Journalists has said it would sue Wilders for copyright infringement.
Wilders' spokeswoman Daphne Rozenboom said in an e-mail that Wilders would replace the cartoon and make other minor edits. She could not give details on how Wilders would change a film that has been dispersed widely over the Internet and downloaded millions of times since its release late Thursday.
In Denmark, Westergaard said he was happy with Wilders' decision and believed the lawsuit would be dropped.
He added that Wilders might have won his permission to use the cartoon if he had asked.
"I don't want my drawing to be used in something that I don't know anything about. Had Mr. Wilders contacted me, we could have talked together and I could have found out what he wanted with the drawing," he said.
The 15-minute film showed verses from the Quran juxtaposed with scenes of violence and terrorist attacks by Muslim extremists.
It led to protests in Pakistan and drew condemnations from Muslim countries and politicians around the world. The Dutch government also denounced the film, and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called it "offensively anti-Islamic."
About 40 hard-line Muslims demonstrated outside the Dutch Embassy in Indonesia in a protest that began Monday and continued Tuesday, calling for Wilders' death. The protesters from Islamic Defenders Front — a small group that has occasionally staged violent protests against Western targets — threw plastic bottles and eggs at the compound before dispersing.
Malaysia's Islamic opposition party delivered a protest note to the Dutch Embassy and urged Muslims worldwide to boycott Dutch products.
In Kuala Lumpur, a supermarket chain marked Dutch products with red labels, giving customers the option of boycotting them.
Ameer Ali Mydin, managing director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd., told The Associated Press on Tuesday that 40 of his stores would take part in the nationwide campaign.
"I think as a Muslim, we have to take a stand," he said.
Mydin buys $18.8 million worth of Dutch goods a year, from dairy and cosmetics to electronics.
Wilders, whose party holds nine seats in the 150-member Dutch parliament, said the film was intended to warn the West of the dangers posed by Islam.
On Monday, Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen met with ambassadors of countries belonging to the Organization of the Islamic Conference to assure them the film "in no way reflects the opinion of the Dutch government," spokesman Rob Dekker said.
He said the diplomats inquired whether Wilders would be prosecuted for violating hate speech laws. Prosecutors have said they have not yet decided whether to take action.
See, Isa? We can agree. I am a hardcore liberal who once said I would never vote for a Republican.
If Obama is the nominee I am either sitting out or voting for McCain. McCain is kinda libby anyway.
I was partial to Clinton all along, but I would have voted for Obama in the general election if it had not been for Reverend Wright.
I'm eating a pulled pork sammich while drinking a Grolsch, so I'm getting a kick out of these comments...

People - a few hours ago I e-mailed a friend in London and asked what his views on "Londonistan" were (which I had never done before).
Here's his reply:
"Londonistan ? no idea what that is - an American notion ?"
I'm not kidding. And this is an intelligent person. I was shocked, I'm still getting over it. The fact that this intelligent guy is a dhimmi, a native Londoner!
Shocked. Good Grief!
Signed the petition. Won't boycott, of course.
Over 3,500 signatures.
Love this comment:
"Islam is mental illness - throw them out now !"
Bravo.
Closing in on 4000. I think there were about 30 added within a minute of my own signing.
Aside from being a fictional character in Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged"...can someone please tell me who Ragnar Danneskjold is?
I'd love to sign the petition, but in doing a search on the name of the creator of this petition all I came up with was a 32 year old "My Space" Ron Paul advocate.
I'm new here so maybe you know something I don't.
I don't need a name ...but credentials would be appreciated.
Thanks

epetitions are pretty useless.
Except to the Jihadist trying to collect email adresses.
awake...I heard you the first time. Didn't know you spoke for the ummah.
This petition purports to be a defence of Geert Wilders and freedom of expression, but threatens to punish Dutch businesses if the Dutch government punishes Wilders. The petition states:
"[...]IT IS RESOLVED that, in the event that the Dutch government attempts, in any way, to punish or prosecute Geert Wilders, civilly or criminally, for exercising his freedom of expression, the undersigned will initiate a boycott of any and all Dutch goods."
The basic premise is fundamentally flawed and self-destructive. I don't like the idea of boycotting Dutch companies, and thereby damaging the Dutch economy. If a boycott is to be used at all, the threat should be to boycott all Islamic countries that are threatening to boycott the Dutch. These Dutch businessmen may be naive about Islam, but they, and thereby all the Dutch, should not be punished for this error. (They should be educated, not punished financially). Further, protests should be made against the Islamic countries in question, and the international institutions that are attempting to implement Islamic restrictions on free speech (e.g., the U.N.).
We should be seeking to resolve the difference of opinion between the Dutch businesses and Wilders, without damaging Dutch businesses or allowing Wilders to be punished. A large showing of popular support for Wilders' film would help bring the Dutch businesses around.
Well I signed it around the 1,600 mark.
Petitions are pretty useless - they don't involve much effort on the part of the signer.
But hand-written, personally signed individual letters count for much more (since they represent more effort on the part of the signatory).
Letters in support of Mr Wilders' courage should be flooding in to Dutch embassies all over the non-Muslim world.
Those jihadwatchers/ dhimmiwatchers who have any sort of worldly clout - if you are, for example, the owner of a substantial business, a school principal, a town councillor, a tenured academic, published author, etc - should perhaps go right to the top: send a polite letter to the Queen of the Netherlands commending the courage of her humble servant Geert Wilders, briefly explaining why 'Fitna' is - as Robert Spencer said - 'accurate', and urging her to do what she can in defence of her citizens' right to freedom of speech.
Another letter to the dhimmified Dutch Prime Minister, castigating him for his cowardice and urging him to re-think. Attach to the letter a list of the 'Rules for Dhimmis' as set out in the Pact of Omar, and two horribly Orwellian discourses- by Sufi writers, no less, one in Morocco, one in India - expounding upon the necessity of humiliating the kuffar and upon the use of the jizya to totally erase the dhimmi's sense of self and will to resist (see end of this posting).
And send a letter to the heads of either the Catholic or Protestant churches in the Netherlands, again noting the flat accuracy of the film, and drawing attention to one thing in particular upon which Wilders reports: the Muslim teaching that those who leave Islam should be killed, a teaching that is actively practised in the here and now. Cite the relevant Hadith; refer to Samuel Zwemer's classic book "The Law of Apostasy in Islam", available in its entirety online, and to Magdi Cristiano Allam's account of the thousands of ex-Muslim converts to Christianity who - in Italy itself, a supposedly 'free' country - live in hiding, for fear of being killed by Muslims, yes, even by their own Muslim kin.
Nasty Sufi Muslim Passages (definitely NOT 'mystical love poetry'!),which might profitably be brought to the attention of the Dutch Parliament.
1. "The honour of Islam lies in insulting kufr and kafirs.
"One who respects the kafirs dishonours the Muslims... The real purpose of levying jiziya on them is to humiliate them to such an extent that they may not be able to dress well and to live in grandeur.
"They should constantly remain terrified and trembling.
" It is intended to hold them under contempt and to uphold the honour and might of Islam".
Sufi 'saint' Ahmad Sirhindi (1564-1624), letter #163, writing in India.
(thanks for originally spotting and posting this one, sheik yer'mami - it was so horribly illustrative of Muslim supremacism at its worst, that I copied and saved it).
And 2., as noted in Andrew Bostom's blog, 22.3.2008:
"a remarkably candid assessment by the 18th century Moroccan Sufi “master” Ibn Ajibah from his Koranic commentary, a work I was made aware of by my colleague, Dr. Mark Durie.
"Describing unabashedly the purpose of the Koranic poll tax (as per Koran 9:29) of submission for non-Muslims brought under Islamic hegemony by jihad, Ibn Ajibah makes clear the ultimate goal of its imposition was to achieve what he called the death of the “soul”, through the dhimmi’s execution of their own humanity:
QUOTE [The dhimmi] is commanded to put his soul, good fortune and desires to death. Above all he should kill the love of life, leadership and honor. [The dhimmi] is to invert the longings of his soul, he is to load it down more heavily than it can bear until it is completely submissive. Thereafter nothing will be unbearable for him. He will be indifferent to subjugation or might. Poverty and wealth will be the same to him; praise and insult will be the same; preventing and yielding will be the same; lost and found will be the same. Then, when all things are the same, it [the soul] will be submissive and yield willingly what it should give. [Tafsir ibn ‘Ajibah. Commentary on Q9:29. Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ibn `Ajibah]
This is like Orwell's 'Ministry of Love' in 1984, or like the agenda of the pimp, the slaver, the sadist, the serial killer/ ritual abuser: to so completely destroy the self-hood and will of their victim, as to render that victim a nonreactive THING that they may use and abuse at will. The demonic Will to Dominate expressed in Ajibah's words is so sadistic, so empty of any awareness of the dhimmi's humanity and personhood, that it makes one want to vomit.
Sorry for the length of this post, but I feel I must add here, from M Scott Peck's 'People of the Lie', a definition of evil that exactly conforms to the Islamic project vis a vis the dhimmi, as outlined by Ibn Ajibah.
"When I say that evil has to do with killing, I do not mean to restrict myself to corporeal murder.
"Evil is also that which kills spirit. There are various essential attributes of life - particularly human life - such as sentience, mobility, awareness, growth, autonomy, will.
"It is possible to kill or attempt to kill one of these attributes without actually destroying the body...
"Erich Fromm was acutely sensitive to this fact when he broadened the definition of necrophilia to include THE DESIRE OF CERTAIN PEOPLE TO CONTROL OTHERS - TO MAKE THEM CONTROLLABLE, TO FOSTER THEIR DEPENDENCY, TO DISCOURAGE THEIR CAPACITY TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES, TO DIMINISH THEIR UNPREDICTABILITY AND ORIGINALITY, TO KEEP THEM IN LINE [my emphasis].
"Distinguishing it from a 'biophilic' person, one who appreciates and fosters the variety of life forms and the uniqueness of the individual, he demonstrated a 'necrophilic' character type, whose aim is to avoid the inconvenience of life BY TRANSFORMING OTHERS INTO OBEDIENT AUTOMATONS, ROBBING THEM OF THEIR HUMANITY [my emphasis].
"Evil, then, for the moment, is that force, residing either inside or outside of human beings, that seeks to kill life or liveliness. And goodness is its opposite. Goodness is that which promotes life and liveliness."
(Funny that Magdi Cristiano Allam's journey toward Christ, and away from Islam, was in part precipitated by his recognition that Israel, the Jews, embodied a principle of life, respect for life, celebration of life, whereas there was at work within Islam a principle of death).
Except to the Jihadist trying to collect email adresses.

I'm impressed by your knowing this reference. So, what is this character like in the novel? From that info perhaps we can derive why the creator of the Petition chose that character's name.

awake... Thank you for the link. That's all I needed to do my research. I'm in.
darcy... I'm assuming your question was a rhetorical one, but if not, In Atlas Shrugged, Ragnar Danneskjold was a notorious pirate who acted in a "reverse" Robin Hood fashion. He stole from the parasites and returned wealth to those who produced it by robbing emergency relief convoys from the pathetic collectivist government of his time.
Yes, it's clear why the blogger chose the name. Apropos!
