He may have been calm because he knew he was going to do a great act to serve Allah. (After all, it was he himself who mentioned that he was a Muslim in his first explanation of why he did it after the shooting.) "Officer: Haq calm when stopped 20 minutes before rampage," by Tracy Johnson for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (thanks to all who sent this in):
A Seattle police officer who pulled over Naveed Haq said everything about the encounter seemed routine, leaving no hint that in less than 20 minutes, the man would walk into the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and open fire.Officer Glen Cook told jurors Tuesday that he has since gone over that July 2006 traffic stop in his head over and over, "kind of second-guessing myself."
"Was there something I missed?" he wonders. "Should I have seen something?"
But what may be most important for jurors in Haq's ongoing King County Superior Court trial is the 32-year-old Tri-Cities man's demeanor during that brief run-in with police, which happened so close in time to the deadly shooting.
His attorneys contend that he was delusional when he forced his way into the federation's Seattle offices with two guns and a knife on that sunny Friday afternoon and shot six women, leaving one of them dead.
Prosecutors contend that he'd planned the attack and knew exactly what he was doing: Trying to make a political statement with his rant against Jews, U.S. foreign policy and the troops in Iraq....
You know are these not the signs to look for. Gosh the logic and the whitewashing really gets sickening. I feel that the stupidity is heartbreaking, when there is clear evidence that all these acts boils down to what is clearly preached in the Koran and other texts of Islam. I feel the west is looking for far of exotic, circumlocution of the facts, answer to the cause of jihadi behavior.
I remember just after this shooting, a cartoon ran in the PI, basically crying out against gun violence. Funny, I have yet to hear them crying out against jihad, the real reason behind the attack.
If all these guys committing crimes are all delusional and are muslim, then are they delusional and a sign of being delusional is being muslim? Or is being muslim a sign of being delusional?
In either case go ahead and classify it as a mental disorder recognized by the American Psyciatric Association delusional?
Oh, man!
OK - "I feel that the stupidity is heartbreaking, when there is clear evidence that all these acts boils down to what is clearly preached in the Koran and other texts of Islam." --savsiv, above.
Exactly.
Do we know any muslims that are not delusional?

That's an acceptable comment?

As opposed to what? Rascist or islamaphobic? I don't understand the question.
Having a religious justification for violence toward non-believers is like leaving a loaded gun in plain sight in a a psych ward.

I'm asking the Moderators, not you. And, why do you put my "typekey profile page?" What's your problem?
Darcy-- I deleted your comment because it was a broad-brush generalization about criminality. Based on the fourth paragraph here, I feel I was justified in deleting it, and will be happy to consult Robert about it.
As for Alaskan's comment, taken in context, it brings to mind the case of Mohammed Taheri-Azar-- similar questions about the insanity defense angle in cases of jihadist attacks. But in the interest of even-handedness, I'm editing out the last bit.
Oh, that's OK, Marisol, don't worry about it. It was "broad-brush." I see what you're saying.
Dear Seattle-moonbat Occifer:
You know the rules of engagement. You know when someone is suspect. Dont' hide your shame in the media when you are called to account for failing to:
1. Engage the subject in conversation.
2. Check body language.
3. Check eye contact.
4. Check lucidity.
5. Check physical appearance... after all, you certainly wouldn't hesitate to detain and deter a black male if you suspected him of being a dealer.
6. Have suspect exit vehicle.
7. Using probable cause, inspect the vehicle and gather evidence. Call for backup.
8. Have suspect recite the alphabet forward, not backward. If suspect is unable to do so, act with caution.
9. Inspect vehicle's trunk, glove box, seats, tires and under carpet areas.
10. Detain suspect if there is the slightest inkling of terrorism related activity.
Police have immunity if they invoke probable cause and if a suspect is behaving suspiciously, is not lucid, cannot make eye contact, or cannot indicate with specificity his route of travel. The officer or the agency he is employed with can be sued, but 10 times out of 10, these suits are dismissed citing immunity and respecting the ground troop officer's judgment as an officer of the court.
This is an experiment in multi culti failure. We'll pounce on our law abiding black citizens and white skinny men whos beginnings go back to our own, but heaven forbid it's an Arab. Oh noooooooo.
"Can't touch dis".
What a disgrace.
Darcy, I think WalterC just highlighted the entire comment and included the signature part.

How did WalterC do what he did?
"he knew he was going to do a great act to serve Allah"-
doesn't that make him innocent?
He was only following the Koran and his profit. Unfortunately he wasn't killed in the process, that would have made him a 'martyr'-, and you know what that means: 72 virgins & 24 boyz, like pearls....
from article: His attorneys contend that he was delusional when he forced his way into the federation's Seattle offices with two guns and a knife on that sunny Friday afternoon and shot six women, leaving one of them dead.
Delusional about what? Islam? Probably, but it's not likely that the was delusional, in the psychiatric meaning, but he 'was' 'deliberate'. It's more likely that the below explanation is the correct one...
From Article: Prosecutors contend that he'd planned the attack and knew exactly what he was doing: Trying to make a political statement with his rant against Jews, U.S. foreign policy and the troops in Iraq....
They left out the motivation of pleasing Allah...

They always leave that out! The American ignorance about Islam is shocking, esp. when it's all so very simple.
This and other reports of Islamist killers being completely calm and composed prior to their acts of violence makes me think we should re-think the rules for holding and investigating some folks. This is a case for racial profiling. If we are unable to detect behavior that tips authorities off about potential killers, then the prudent course would be to assume all arabs and muslims are terrorists and thoughly investigate them whenever they are stopped. Better yet, send them back to the rat hole countries from which they came. There they can serve Allah to their heart's content without interference from Kafirs.
Yer welcome Robert!
