Survey: Hizballah's Hassan Nasrallah is most admired leader in the Arab world

Some may argue that the region isn't exactly teeming with great leaders, and only 26 percent of respondents expressed support for him. Nonetheless, the fact that Nasrallah is at the top of the heap speaks to a disturbing set of priorites for what these respondents seek in a leader. "Survey: Nasrallah is the most admired leader in the Arab world," from Haaretz:

Hezbollah chief Sheikh Nassan Nasrallah is the most admired leader in the Arab world, according to a poll released recently by the Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland.
Nasrallah seems to be gaining in popularity, with some 26 percent of respondents voicing support for him. Syrian President Bashar Assad also won an increase in popularity, according to the poll.
The survey also found that the majority of Arab public - in contrast to their governments - does not view Iran as a major threat.
Respondents said they believe Iran should be free to pursue its nuclear program and are opposed to international pressure to halt development. Some 44 percent of respondents said the outcome of a nuclear Iran would be beneficial for the region.
The poll found an increased interest within the Arab world regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with some 86 percent of respondents calling it one of the top three most important issues facing the region.
A majority of respondents support a two-state solution based on 1967 borders but an increasing number voiced pessimism about its prospects.
Some 50 percent of respondents believe that the failure of a two-state solution would lead to continued conflict, 9 percent believe it would eventually lead to a one-state solution and 7 percent think the Palestinian will eventually surrender to Israel.
The survery also found that 18 percent of Arab respondents sympathize with Hamas over Fatah, while 38 percent voiced equal sympathy for the rival factions. Some 15 percent of respondents blame Hamas for the situation in Gaza, while 23 percent believe Fatah is to blame.
Some 83 percent of respondents, meanwhile, voiced an unfavorable view of the United States, while 70 percent express no confidence in the American government. Most Arabs, however, ranked the U.S. as among the leaders of freedom and democracy.
The poll found that 32 percent of Arabs believe that America's Middle East policy will remain the same regardless of who wins the coming elections. Some 18 percent of respondents think Barack Obama has the best chance of bringing peace to the region, while 13 percent favor Hillary Clinton. Another 4 percent think McCain is the best candidate to advance Middle East peace.

Arab Islamist "Peace and Development" = the annihilation of Israel and the paths to that end.

"Some 15 percent of respondents blame Hamas for the situation in Gaza, while 23 percent believe Fatah is to blame."

What about the other 62 percent? Did they not respond or did they just blame Israel for Gaza's terrible predicament?

Doesn't it in the end come down to emulation of the "prophet"? Nasrallah simply does that and gets the admiration of muslims, much in the same way that christian leader turn the second cheek and accept blame that is not theirs to accept just to emulate their prophet.

In this way muslims and christian share a common view, christians turn the other cheek and so do muslims. The only problem, at least for christians, is that physically, it is the same cheek.

"Some 83 percent of respondents, meanwhile, voiced an unfavorable view of the United States, while 70 percent express no confidence in the American government. Most Arabs, however, ranked the U.S. as among the leaders of freedom and democracy."

this statistic indicates to me that the Arabs have an unfavorable view of freedom and democracy, but then, we already knew this..

"The survery also found that 18 percent of Arab respondents sympathize with Hamas over Fatah, while 38 percent voiced equal sympathy for the rival factions. "

If you can blow up people and destroy any attempt at peace you can get Arab votes...

"Some 50 percent of respondents believe that the failure of a two-state solution would lead to continued conflict"

does this infer that the other 50 % WOULD BELIEVE that the success of a two state solution would lead to a continued conflict.?

Muslims love conflict...you say yes, I say no, hello hello, I don't know why you say goodbye when I say hello...

Goes to show..You can become a hero in the eyes of many Muslims by simply foaming at the mouth and doing everything you can to kill as many people as you can....of course, you have to grow a beard, wear flowing robes, be able to shake a finger, and be able to announce fearful threats..and Being a Muslim cleric certainly helps.

"You can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

- Abraham Lincoln.

This maxim may not apply in sections of the Middle East.

Please MSM, no more stories about how peaceful the Muslim people are. Once Usama (Osama?) became the most popular name for newborn Muslim males, a giant dagger was driven into that argument.
Now we hear that Nasrallah is the most widely admired leader.
Case closed.

Some 83 percent of respondents, meanwhile, voiced an unfavorable view of the United States, while 70 percent express no confidence in the American government.

How many of these same people would get on the first plane to the United States, to live in peace and prosperity, if given the opportunity? Ban all Muslim travel, as opposed to immigration, to the West.

Hopefully this will get to the State Dept.and do some good. Why would we continue to allow people to emigrate from areas where 83% of the population habors ill-will against our nations? Do the people who have any say in our immigration policies have a death wish for our nation?

83% of respondents have an unfavorable view of the USA. Then do not visit my country, do not move here, do not attend its universities, or drive it taxicabs.

And why do we care what they think? Where did this new trend start?

I care only how to defeat the enemy. I don't care if he likes me or not.

I assume he doesn't like me. I don't need a poll to tell me that.

Things are usually a lot more cut and dry than the obscurantists want to let on.

By popular Vote-Nasrallah is Crowned as top Skunk in the World!

We should send an award. Could there be a Bible Thumping Hillbilly like American with a Gun who could help us out? Like Bag and Stuff an old fashion American Skunk. Mount it like a Trophy with a Plaque and all. Even dress it as is the local custom.

JW has Awards for Infidels. Why not one for the biggest Skunk of the Year? The Voting apparatus is already in place. It is just the presentation of the Award one needs to be concerned with.

Only loosers would favor a looser for a leader like Hasan Nasrallah. Crush him and he would declare victory, defeat him and he would declare victory, screw him and he would still declare victory for surviving these humiliating crushes. He has such low expectations that if he looses half of his people and half of his land he would declare a vicotry for saving the other half of his people and half of his land. How consistant is this with Islam. When Syria lost the Golan Heights Syria declared a victory for preventing the Israelis from invading Damascus. Had the Israelis invaded Damascus too Syria would have declared a victory for preventing the Isralis from invading Alepo (The second Syrian City). Go figure.

And why do we care what they think? Where did this new trend start?

It started with accelerated globalization.
We had to worry what they thought when they used the oil weapon against us, by embargoing the oil. That was followed in short order by PLO terrorism. Before that, Israel had friends in France and Britain.

I would like to see our leaders tell these guys what to do with themselves but that is harder to do today, since we have voluntarily and unilaterally disarmed our economy. We may have one of the largest militaries in the world, but our industries are gone and half the weapons we use depend on parts purchased from abroad. The clothing on the backs of our soldiers probably comes from China.

I hope someone sends him a GPS-oriented congratulations real soon.

...just kidding , US uniforms made in local sweatshops:

WASHINGTON - American military uniforms are being made under substandard working conditions in domestic sweatshops that the Pentagon is failing to police, an apparel workers union said on Tuesday.

Most workers who make the uniforms worn by American soldiers are paid below poverty-level wages, have no health coverage or retirement plans and are forced to rely on government aid, the union, Unite Here, said in a report.

"It's unconscionable that taxpayer dollars are being used to support sweatshops," Unite Here Executive Vice President Edgar Romney told a news conference. "But that's exactly what's happening."

The report, "Conduct Unbecoming: Sweatshops and the U.S. Military Uniform Industry," found the average hourly wage at eight uniform manufacturers with government contracts to be $6.55 and the average starting wage to be $5.49. The federal minimum wage is $5.15, while the poverty threshold wage for a family of three is $7.74.

With low pay and employer health care either unavailable or beyond the reach of most of the workers, who are predominantly female African-American sewing machine operators, they must rely on government health care and food assistance, the report said. The government assistance costs taxpayers $45 million a year, it said.

The eight manufacturers, located mostly in southeastern states, did a combined $456 million of business with the Pentagon in the last three years and have been cited for numerous health, safety and labor law violations, it said.

The Defense Department spends more than $2 billion a year on uniforms and textile products that it buys from hundreds of small firms that by law must be located in the United States and that employ 20,000 workers, the report said.

"We think that it's important that we urge our government to take the high road in awarding these contracts," said Romney.

Unite Here President Bruce Raynor said the union, which represents workers in the apparel, hotel, restaurant and laundry industries, decided to go public with its findings only after Pentagon officials refused to discuss the matter.

A spokesman at the Pentagon's Defense Logistics Agency did not return phone calls.

UNIONIZED MANUFACTURERS DISADVANTAGED

Raynor, who said the union is trying to organize workers at at least one of the manufacturers, said Pentagon procurement policies put unionized manufacturers at a disadvantage.

He said he would urge lawmakers to call on the Pentagon to deny contracts to companies that have violated laws, fail to provide benefits and pay below poverty-level wages.

"When you take shortcuts with the workers, you take shortcuts with the quality," he said.

Nasrallah, the most revered leader in the Arab world, this speaks volumes of the perverse and twisted Arab mindset… it is devoid of morality: then again this is no surprise, either.

"Survey: Hizballah's Hassan Nasrallah is most admired leader in the Arab world"

certainly shows either they have no one better to choose from or they overwhelmingly approve of anyone who promises death, doom, and destruction..

either way the common denominator is Islam.
