Afghanistan urges Pakistan to stop jihad attacks

"Islam does not recognise boundaries and jihad (holy war) in Afghanistan will continue," said Mehsud, as we noted earlier. This kind of talk has made the Karzai government nervous, and for very good reason.

"Afghanistan urges Pakistan to stop attacks," from AFP, May 24 (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

KABUL (AFP) — Pakistan must not allow its soil to be used to launch attacks in Afghanistan, the government said Saturday after a Pakistani militant vowed to continue "jihad" while pursuing peace talks with Islamabad.

The statement by Pakistani Taliban warlord Baitullah Mehsud Saturday was "naked interference" in Afghanistan's affairs, defence ministry spokesman General Mohammad Zahir Azimi told AFP.

"Our hope from the Pakistan government is to prevent its soil being used against our country," Azimi said.

One would hope, but it may not even be able to do so even if it wanted to.

"Our hope from the Pakistan government is to prevent its soil being used against our country," Azimi said.

"But feel free to use Pakistan to launch attacks against the U.S., Great Britain, etc."

When dealing with non-Muslims, well that's a different matter. Then Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and all the rest will say: we offer our soil to be used in the jihad! Use it! Make us proud!

Hey, wait a minute! Isn't "jihad" the inner struggle? Since when does jihad require anyone to attack anyone else? Someone needs to educate this "militant". He's not a militant, he's a misunderstander.

"Our hope from the Pakistan government is to prevent its soil being used against our country," Azimi said.

And Azimi, pray tell, why should a single infidel care? We can always go home. You ARE home.

Yeah, yeah, don't attack Afghanistan. Attack India, it's crawling with dirty kaffirs. But to be fair to the Karzai government, they would rather deal with India instead of Pakistan. Only trouble is that you can't really "govern" the Afghans unless you carry a very heavy club (like the Soviets did). So the lawlessness will continue. The guys caught in the middle have developed an ability to switch sides with agility. Taliban today, sweet reason tomorrow, banditry the day after... The Pakis thought they had Afghanistan sewed up in the name of Islam. Islam didn't do the trick either.
Pakistan, ever since their surrogates the Taliban were booted out post 9/11, hasn't forgotten its lost colony of Afghanistan(they called it "strategic depth")and the attacks will continue. Pakistan has long mastered the art of saying one thing and doing another. I don't know what is the position now, but in India of the late 60s and early 70s a liar used to be called "Radio Pakistan".

""Our hope from the Pakistan government is to prevent its soil being used against our country," Azimi said."

how about attacking them if they do..

Are the NW Tribal Areas even still under "control" of the Paki government anymore??? Sounds like a large training area for jihad, without any semblance of control from Pakistan. Why not all THREE powers attack? The Afghan military, the Paki military and the CF should immediately put these barbarians on notice that they are in non-compliance of the norms of civilization and have 30 days to surrender, unconditionally! Otherwise, they become the proving grounds for the next generation of weapon systems. Designed expressly for addressing the rising threat of terrorism. (It would also be a great demonstration to Iran, as to why they might want to halt their nuculear weaponization program!) Radar `73-`75

Hasn't Pakistan officially denied any control over the so called 'tribal areas,' thus setting up the argument that since they can't control the area, there's nothing they can do about it? And isn't that the reason they can't "find" Osama Bin Laden or any of the other Taliban lunatics that are hiding in their country?

If no one controls the NW tribal areas then why can't they be cordoned off? Granted that's a rugged area but are there that many passes that can be used to reach the outside?
Nothing and no one gets in or out while Osama remains at large. Let them live in their 7th century tribal villages without bothering the rest of humanity.
A compromise: people can check in but they can't check out.

They say separating religious law from state law is unnecessary. But ongoing attacks prove to be manifestations of religion. Defense forces adapt missions in response, and identify and remove new terror patterns. If Sharia is legitimized by state law, then the emerging culture of universal education and individual human rights may also be compromised. The benefits of separation are not yet appreciated.
