Sorry about that, Chief
This is nothing. Last year around this time he was killed but not killed.
"Iraq al-Qaeda chief not captured," from the BBC, May 9 (thanks to larwyn):
The United States military in Iraq says a man detained in the northern city of Mosul is not in fact the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq.An earlier statement from the Iraqi defence ministry said that al-Masri had been captured.
But an American military spokeswoman, Peggy Kageleiry, said Abu Ayyub al-Masri had not been arrested.
She said confusion had arisen because a man with a similar name to the al-Qaeda in Iraq leader had been detained.
Al-Qaeda in Iraq has been blamed for or has claimed responsibility for some of the bloodiest insurgent attacks in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003....
Well, duh! To paraphrase Mohammad, "And because of their saying (in boast), "We arrested al-Masri...but they arrested him not..., but the resemblance of al-Masri was put over another man (and they arrested that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they arrested him not. 4:157 Hilal-Khan
Edward Platt won't put up with any more mistakes like this!
Missed him by *that* much!
"Chief, Max here. We just captured al-Masri, head of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, thanks to me and my trusty shoe-phone!"
Chief, "Max, I don't believe it..."
Max, "Would you believe it was al-Messy, second in command of Al-Qaeda in Iraq?
Chief, "No I wouldn't!"
Max, "How about a guy named akbar and his camel?"
Chief, "Not again..........."
"Kuffirs of the world, Unite!"
"Islam, abusing women and children since 622AD"
Would you believe a rabid German Shepard and three angry Cub Scouts?
Of course! It's the old al-Masri ala-Mahdi 'occultation' trick.
Would you believe he's hiding down a spider hole for next thousand years? :)
