KOTKAI, Pakistan - The leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Baitullah Mehsud, vowed on Saturday to carry on fighting NATO and U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan regardless of negotiations for a peace deal with the government of Pakistan.The Taliban leader told a group of journalists, invited to his stronghold in the tribal lands of South Waziristan, that he wanted to stop fighting the Pakistan army.
"Fighting between the Taliban and Pakistan is harming Islam and Pakistan. This fighting should come to an end immediately," the black-bearded, short, muscular Mehsud said.
But he made no commitment about halting attacks in Afghanistan, and said the jihad, or holy war, would carry on.
"Islam does not recognise frontiers and boundaries. Jihad in Afghanistan will continue," Mehsud said, as guards carrying Kalashnikov assault rifles looked on.
Mehsud emerged as a notorious militant commander over the past year, having been linked to a string of suicide attacks, including one that killed former prime minister Benazir Bhutto last December....
Mehsud said he had never met al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden or Taliban chief Mullah Omar.
"But, like every true Muslim, I wish to have a glimpse of these two great leaders," he added....

If what we've heard from Western reporters holds true across the board then those who give the interviews, the higher up they are, are more security-conscious. A journalist doesn't knock on the door. He is invited to come see them. He's probably checked out for legitimacy before any invite is issued. He is searched for weapons before he is within a mile of his subject. Any deviation from instructions would probably result in his death.
My guess is that George W. Bush is more accessible to foreign reporters than any of these guys are to reporters anywhere, whether they're Muslim or not.

Islam recognizes frontiers and boundaries when it's convenient, like when the whining mullahs and imams lament the presence of "Western colonizers and occupiers" on sovereign muslim soil in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But I forgot; the world belongs to muslims and once they occupy any given territory, it becomes "islamic" land for all time.
I don't know which is worse--- muslims and islam or the pathetic ignorance and denial of American leaders. We don't have much of a choice for the presidential election but if the AMerican people are stupid enough to elect a radical, white-hating communist, I guess we deserve whatever comes our way. As much as I despise the Marxist Hillary, she's preferable to a man who disowned his own mother because she was white. He may have been embarrassed by his mother's "whiteness" but not her politics, which he proudly supports to this day. She was a dedicated communist, just like many of his closest associates. Yes, Mr. Obama will be a fine Manchurian Candidate president; I can hardly wait.
