Muslim translator who stole classified Iraq maps gets 11 years

Why just 11 years? Because maybe he "was only a troubled man who gathered the material for no apparent reason." Yeah, that's it!

"Translator Who Took Classified Iraq Maps Is Sentenced," by Joseph Goldstein for the New York Sun, May 20 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A Brooklyn man who stole classified documents while serving as a translator in Iraq was sentenced yesterday to 11 years in prison after a federal judge showed leniency, saying he could not tell with certainty whether the translator was spying for the insurgency or was only a troubled man who gathered the material for no apparent reason.

The documents in Noureddine Malki’s possession included battle maps showing routes used by American troops and lists of locations that troops suspected were used to hide weapons of mass destruction. Authorities found the documents in Malki’s Hoyt Street apartment in 2005, upon his return from a third tour in Iraq.

Taking the witness stand in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn for the first time since his jailing nearly three years ago, Malki, now 48, testified that he believed the government was going “hard” on him because of his “cultural background” — he is Muslim and from Morocco. He said that he never used the contents of the documents to harm American troops.

“I love this country just as I love myself,” Malki, who moved to America in 1988 by way of France, said. “I will never ever bite the hand of the person that feeds me. The United States is the person who feeds me. I made an honest mistake. I overlooked the return of the classified material.”...

Taqqiya at it's best. Notice he refers to the U.S. as the person that feeds him, not his own country. He obviously doesn't consider himself an American, but a member of the ummah.

Somehow i just dont believe the guy i dont know why just a feeling i have.

What about the Gitmo spy, former Army chaplain Capt. James J. Yee?

He was never 'cleared'-, Yee was certainly not exonerated or cleared; the charges were dropped, according to Maj. Gen. Geoffrey D. Miller, commander of Joint Task Force Guantanamo, because there were “national security concerns that would arise from the release of the evidence” if the case proceeded.

Ex-Army chaplain cleared in Gitmo spy case is Obama delegate

The mind boggles. This guy should be put up against the wall!

That's a good defense for future spies. Maybe the next Robert Walker can use it.

I don't KNOW why I stole those documents. I just wanted them. I found them in an office and thought they'd look good on my coffee table.

Isn't possession nine tenths of the law?

He gathered the material. Who knows whom it was passed to? What were his operating conditions in Iraq? Was he free to come and go as he pleased? How many Iraqis did he meet outside the presence of the US military? People could have been shown the maps in the privacy of someone's home.
If these were classified documents then what US official was responsible for securing them?

I've learned too much on JW/DW to believe his lying tongue. Now, 3 years ago I would have thought differently, but not at this point; not since "taqqiya" has become a part of my vocabulary.

OT: how to beat the jihadis ?

It's as simple as the denial and hypocrisy of the eco purists out there:

Drill for oil and gas in Al Gore's back yard and start easing up the approval proceedings for private enterprisefor nuclear plants.

Immediately the price of oil would go down about 65%, the monkey man and the Chavez and the Saudis and Russia would lose their hole card.

The eco nuts and the environmentalists are a real drag to beating those who would blackmail us, including the jihadis.

Treason? Looks like it to me. Military tribune should be charging this guy, not our criminal justice system.

Sandy Berger - Call your office

Quite a difference in sentencing compared to that Judge in Detroit who had the case of the woman who found her way into both the FBI and the CIA (shame on each agency) and her sister who entered the miitary. But then again, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio to name a few states, not to mention other smaller entry communities, seemed to have been bought and paid for by Islamic "Fifth Caravan".

May Prison provide all the love a grateful Nation can provide.

11 years? Does he have to serve eighty percent of that or will he get time off for good behavior, meaning he'll see the streets in about four years?

" don't KNOW why I stole those documents. I just wanted them. I found them in an office and thought they'd look good on my coffee table."

hey dirtbag, a nice arrangement of flowers looks good on a coffee table..classified documents and military maps looks suspicious.

OMG!!! If the courts (obviously being influenced to be PC, by the government) don't know what's to be done with traitors, AMERICANS DO!!! Send that spying piece of @#$% and the "army chaplain" to us and well insure they'll NEVER injure another American! But then again, if the courts don't know what to do with traitors within our own government, nor muslim spies in our governmental agencies, why should we expect them to properly handle military quislings! Our damn government and activist courts are defeating us for our enemies! Radar, Mi GOE, US Army `73-`75

first off the heathen bum is not from brooklyn, he's a foreigner who hangs his hat in brooklyn now. i'm a brooklynite, an american. i say hang the bastard.
