In response to my question about how the new Muslim Apostate meme got started, Gavin at Sadly No emailed with this link to Jihad Watch from David Horowitz's FrontPage magazine. This makes sense. After all, David Horowitz has made his career out of being an apostate so it figures his project would be behind the propagation of this nonsense. It's his thing.
We're dealing with some very, very deep thinkers here. A few observations:
1. I wrote the piece linked at Jihad Watch. David Horowitz did not. JW is a Horowitz Center operation, but I am solely and wholly responsible for its content.
2. In the post in question, I explained that Obama would not be considered an apostate according to Islamic law if he left Islam before puberty, as it appears he did. I have never claimed that Obama was an apostate from Islam -- in fact, I have argued just the opposite -- and these geniuses keep attributing just the opposite position to me.
3. Can't Leftists read? Perry Bacon, Washington Post "journalist," made the same mistake.
UPDATE: Welcome, geniuses from Sadly, No! It's tough when your only intellectual weapon is scorn, isn't it? As for the Is-Obama-An-Apostate rumors, is this clear enough for you? This is what I said about them in March 2007:
Amil Imani, himself a former Muslim, says that any male with a Muslim father is a Muslim for life, no matter if he observes the faith or not.
The question isn't whether Obama is hiding his Islamic faith. The question is what his Muslim BACKGROUND will mean for America in its dealings with the Muslim world. It might very well be an ace. We don't know but avoiding the question won't help anyone.
Robert, don't your own words contradict your argument? You can't leave a faith you never espoused.

No, that's precisely my point. He is not an apostate according to Islamic law. That is the thrust of my post linked above as well as of the article Perry Bacon linked. These deep thinkers keep using me as an example of people who are calling Obama an apostate, and yet I have never, ever done that.

Reading the comments there just reaffirms my belief that there are people in the US who should be denied the right to vote due to their overt stupidity.

Good point; additionally, it might make him sympathetic to Muslim positions. BO is already talking about meeting with Ahmad; and Muslim background or no Muslim background, stating his desire to meet with this man is a major red flag.
If elected, Bo's first action will be to stop the funding of the war, effectively disarming the troops and in effect, giving victory to the terrorists..it is the same tactic the Democratic majority congress and senate used to give victory to the North Vietnamese ..even the North Vietnamese General Tin admitted that this action and the glorious reports of the hate the antiwar Protestors were dishing out were what inspired his troops to fight on..

Yes, in the post linked above I make that point: that his Muslim background will make him popular in the Islamic world, and lead him to imagine that he has a unique perspective that can make him the one to make peace between Islam and the West. And this will only take the form of concessions from the West.

Most socialists and especially feminists believe that all true is constructed. So then tend not to care what others think if it does not fit "their truth". If they don't like us they just make up what fits their narrative. I'm serious in saying this.
Consider the Christian theocracy book a few years back. It's mostly made up stuff and the over-arching thesis is lunacy. I talked with one lefty last summer who was certain that Christians were going to start the Republic of Gideon (see M. They are the product of 30 years of liberal (read Critical Theory) education. Robotons do not require a reading skill. Thus history escapes their world-view. As long as they can pass the cucumber test they graduate.
The better question is whether you can read, Robert.
Digby did not say Horowitz wrote your piece. She said "[Horowitz's] project would be behind the propagation of [your] nonsense". In other words, she said Horowitz's project gave you the forum to say what you did. "It's [Horowtiz's] thing." refers to the spreading of highly disputable claims about his political opponents.
