No surprise here. And remember: with Saudi money comes the Saudi ideology. While Wahhabism is not the only violent or supremacist strain of Islam, it is a violent and supremacist strain, and it is the one the Saudis are bankrolling.
"Muslim leaders in pay of Saudis," by Richard Kerbaj in The Australian, May 19 (thanks to all who sent this in):
SIX Australian-based Muslim clerics who are leaders of the Islamic community in the country are on the payroll of the Saudi Government, receiving allowances of up to $2000 a month. The Australian can reveal for the first time the identity of the clerics - some paid through the Saudi embassy in Canberra, others directly from Riyadh's Dawah (preaching) Office - who receive between 3500 and 7000 Saudi riyal ($1975) a month.
The payments to the six - who include former Howard government adviser Amin Hady and Melbourne Somali imam Isse Musse - are part of Saudi Arabia's multi-billion-dollar campaign to transform its hardline image in the West.
However, Sheik Hady told The Australian there were as many as 14 others in the country being paid by the Saudis...
In 70 years, from roughly 1918 to 1988, with its Comintern, and Willi Munzenberg, and subventions to "The Morning Star" and "L'Humanite" and "L'Unita," and to such people as Gus Hall, and to pay for all those Peace and Youth Conferences -- in Helsinki, for example, with its trademark Dove of Peace by Picasso, and with all the magazines about the wonders of the Soviet Union and the Building of Communism, and pull-the-wool-over-the-eyes trips for journalists, and all kinds of other propaganda designed to fool or inveigle the West, the Soviet Union spent between eight and nine billion dollars.
The total amount spent by just one Muslim country (admittedly the richest), Saudi Arabia, in furthering the cause of Islam over the past three decades is close to 100 billion dollars. Think of all the mosques built and maintained, all the imams on the payroll, all the missionaries conducting Da'wa in American and British prisons, all the Western hirelings, in the capital of every Western country, whose full-time job is to explain away the Al-Saud, and the mutawwa of Saudi Arabia, and Islam itself, its texts, its tenets, its attitudes, its atmospherics.
Add in the amounts spent by the Emirates, by Kuwait, by Qatar, by Libya and by Iran, by the O.I.C. itself (funded by the rich Arabs), and the amounts sloshing about the foundations of the Western world, causing the pillars of its stability to crumble, and the promise of ever-more trillions to be accumulated by Saudi Arabia and its Companions For The Promotion Of Islam, and who would not, or should not, be alarmed?
Australia do not be contaminated by this violent ideology. It will destroy all that is unique in Australia, as you can see from the historical and present evidence and facts of world events, about the Islamic onslaught. The onslaught has many forms now from the oil money and mass migration and population increase. Subtle form is fear and suicide bombings of non Muslims and gross human rights violation of non Muslims in Islamic countries.
No matter how much money you have, at the end of the day, the sow's ear is still a sow's ear.
No surprise here. (by RS)
Even for those who have never seen JW, is this really news? We've heard how the Saudis are building mosques in the West. We've seen our presidents hold hands with the Saudis, both literally and figuratively. Western countries that have been threatened by radical Islam continue to admit Muslim immigrants (the peaceful ones, of course!), in defiance of all common sense. Should anyone anywhere be shocked, shocked (!) that Saudis are bankrolling clerics around the globe? So what else is new?
The American government, and other Western governments, should long ago have taken steps to interdict the flow of funds from outside, especially from the Gulf, that flow to the West in order support Muslim expansion inside the Infidel lands. If local Muslims can raise the funds for their own mosques, that would be one thing. But something else is going on. Foreign funds, every bit as disturbing as the flow of money from the propaganda units of the Soviet or Nazi regimes, used to establish outposts of power deep within what Muslims see as enemy territory, Dar al-Harb, to be undone by whatever means are possible and effective.
And qitaal, combat, is not possible now, and not effective. But campaigns of Da'wa, carefully targetted at economically or psychically marginal or determinedly alienated groups and individuals, make use of this Saudi and other Muslin oil-statae wealth, to pay for these propaganda campaigns, and to build, everywhere they can, vast edifices, mosques with, ideally, those bristling and aggressive minarets, designed to over-awe those in the surrounding communities (and the communities chosen are often those peopled by the economically marginal who are deemed ripe for conversion, or "reversion"). When one sees a mosque go up in a poor town, a mosque that costs fifteen or twenty million dollars, and discovers that there are no more than a hundred Muslims in that town, and at the same time, with thousands of congregants, churches are closing for want of funds, one understands that it is not those local Muslims paying for that mosque, that something else, something distrubing and sinister is going on.
See, for example, the whole saga of the Boston Mosque, deliberately built in Roxbury, where it is hoped that the circumambient black Muslim population will grow, and where, all along, Saudi money, and a Muslim deep within city government, but promoting Saudi and larger Musliim interests, together managed to produce this mosque that will unsettle the old-line appeal of the black Christian churches, and is meant to do so.
It should not be beyond the wit of the American government to find ways to halt this flow of foreign Muslim money, either by seizure as money that is being used for purposes that naturally tend to increase the threat to national security, or by demanding of the Saudis that they stop that flow -- on pain of having all kinds of things happen, beginning of course with exposure, and Congressional hearings, about this Saudi money, and what it buys, and about all the Western hirelings who, over the years, have done the Saudi bidding.
And if the American public becomes aware of how the Saudi lobby has prevented not only an intelligent understanding of what Islam is all about, but -- far more important to many --has prevented a sensible energy policy from being put in place thirty years ago, with a steadily-risinig gasoline tax, and all sorts of other measures -- subsidies to trains and other forms of mass transit, subsidies to solar and wind energy, a campaign to make clear how important -- even indispensable -- nuclear power is, and the building, by the government, of nuclear reactors on the French model and at the French rate -- there will be, as there should be, palpable rage at the Al-Saud, and at meretricious Saudi Arabia, never our ally, even when, temporarily, our interests (say, in Afghanistan with the Soviet army) may have temporarily overlapped, but always and forever, our mortal enemy.
Closer to our shores, in fact on our shores, is the notorious Islamic Saudi Academy in Fairfax County, Va, whose lease of the old Mt. Vernon High School is now up for renewal in June by the Fairfax County School Board.
This too is a purveyor of Saudi hate, as it is fully funded by the Saudi government though the Saudi Embassy in Washington DC.
It is also now training troops in nearby Ft. Belvoir about Muslim culture and in Arabic.

Perhaps we should have considered invading Saudi Arabia vice Iraq....
Seriously though, money talks and people listen. Remember when the State Dept hired that private sector ad woman to re-invent our image abroad and later her replacement by President Bush's former media advisor, Karen Hughes who went around to Arab/Muslim countries in the State Dept version of Hillary Clinton's listening tour? And the results have been what?
Are we just sharpening the blade that will slice our own throat?
It was easier to control the Communist funding in America. They didn't believe in god. Their money went to communist parties that did poorly at the ballot box. In addition, we generally didn't trade with Communist countries. There were two separate trading blocs.
Our leaders have sold us out. Today we are globalized and we welcome foreign investment. That mosque that costs twenty million or so to build provides jobs for the local residents during and after its construction. That twenty million goes into the community, to replace the jobs that have been sent to China or Mexico. The effects are temporary but that tide, while it is rising, lifts a lot of local boats. As PR moves go, it's a better story than one of sheikhs gambling at Monte Carlo.
Then Islam dons its religious hat, which prevents almost all restriction of what happens inside the building. Its religious pose is what makes Islam harder to combat. Not only that, how do we restrict the flow of funds from "allies" with whom we have a "special relationship"?
The recent CQ article on Lt. Col. Joseph Myers (linked to in a Jihad Watch article earlier today), contains a wake up call for the Australian government and security services. During WW2 would the Australian government have allowed the Nazi's to directly fund Nazi colleges and propangandists? During the Cold War would they have allowed the Soviet Union to directly fund Communist institutions and propangandists? And yet they appear to be allowing Jihadists to directly fund whatever they want in Australia.
There is a link to NSC68 in that CQ article which I found very interesting - section 4 states:
"The idea of freedom is the most contagious idea in history, more contagious than the idea of submission to authority. For the breadth of freedom cannot be tolerated in a society which has come under the domination of an individual or group of individuals with a will to absolute power. Where the despot holds absolute power--the absolute power of the absolutely powerful will--all other wills must be subjugated in an act of willing submission, a degradation willed by the individual upon himself under the compulsion of a perverted faith. It is the first article of this faith that he finds and can only find the meaning of his existence in serving the ends of the system. The system becomes God, and submission to the will of God becomes submission to the will of the system. It is not enough to yield outwardly to the system--even Gandhian non-violence is not acceptable--for the spirit of resistance and the devotion to a higher authority might then remain, and the individual would not be wholly submissive."
That is a straight quote and I particularly astounded by the continuing relevance of the word 'submission' to describe the belief system of the enemies of freedom.
The same uncompromising and totalitarian approach to dissent taken by the Soviet Union is being taken by governments in Islamic states around the world. We see Rehabilitation Centres in Malaysia for apostates, death sentences in Afghanistan for apostates, denial of the right to study in Iran for the Bahai and more.
It is astounding that there are countries in the West where people are at risk of prosecution for telling the truth about our ideological enemies. Could anyone imagine having been prosecuted during WW2 for criticising Adolf Hitler or Mein Kamph? Or for criticising Mao or his little red book?
And yet, in the 21st Century, we have people living throughout the western world worried about prosecutions and threats because they dare to tell the truth.
It is time to face facts Australia - a Green Curtain has fallen across the islamic world and it is time to talk plainly about what is happening and what needs to be done.
And we have politicians on the Saudi payroll. The same politicians that are keeping our natural resources restricted from developing. So that we further enrich the Saudi's to further money spend on islam in our western countries.
We are all paying Jiyzah, one gallon at a time.

What about the Deobandi? Is it funded by someone? I remember a few months ago a UK newspaper saying that the Deobandi controls 50% of the British mosques ...

The problem is the Soviet Union was taken seriously as an existential threat to the West while the Islamic states are not.
The Western countries have developed a distaste for conflict. They aren't willing to fight for their beliefs. It's live and let live. Some have the warped idea that, after four centuries of Western domination, it's Islam's turn. They just don't see a threat from the umma. They look at Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, etc. and most see former colonies or non-industrialized countries that they could roll over. It will be our undoing.
sheik - I wonder if we can find out a bit more about the reporter who wrote this story for 'The Australian'.
The name 'Richard Kerbaj' is interesting - European first name, plus middle eastern (Lebanese? Persian?) second name. Question: is 'Richard' the name his parents gave him, or a name 'adopted' in order to 'blend in'? Question: is he from a Muslim, or a 'christian' background? It might be interesting to try finding out.
If he's Lebanese Christian - and Australia has Lebanese Christian families who came here in the late 19th century, there was a big Maronite church in the next suburb to mine, when I lived in Sydney - it might account for why he's filing a lot of stories about Islamic encroachment in Australia.
The other reporter at The Australian who seems to do a lot of stories about Islam is 'Natalie O'Brian' - a classic old Irish-Australian name.
mosques and madrasas are not the only things that the saudis finance. Right now they are also financing air compressors over here. muslims here breed 15-20 children and by the age of 4-5 most kids (them that survive polio and T.B. because the ummah does not vaccinate) are working. Most start out as apprentices of bike, scooter or bicycle mechanics. These mechanics themselves are dependent on the cart, tools and air compressors that are provided by your friendly neighbourhood mosque and are the property of the wakf board. Indian readers, you can verify this by following any muslim mechanic working from a cart.
The Saudis are spreading the cancer of Islam across the globe with absolutely no opposition.
We need a law saying no foreign govts can donate and influence our universities. VERY SIMPLE.
Indian readers - If you are going to do some cart following, please, please be careful. These people have been sawing off heads ever since they were 4-5 years old and will not hesitate to cause you mortal injury. Especially if you are in one of their neighbourhoods. Please be discreet. And before venturing into a neighbourhood like jama masjid at New Delhi do read up on what happened to Charlene Downes.
