Al-Samurai, hastily photoshopped
Time for a new round of disavowals.
"Meet Obama's new albatross: Supporter backs Iraqi terror: Former Baghdad minister holds U.S. citizenship, boosts Dem with money, insurgency with words," from WorldNetDaily, June 16 (thanks to Doc Washburn):
WASHINGTON – An American citizen who returned to Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein to become minister of electricity has called for support of the terrorist insurgency and claims to have contributed the maximum amount under the law to the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama.Ayham al-Samurai, a Sunni Muslim and former Iraqi exile who lived in the U.S. for 20 years, held a press conference in Amman, Jordan, yesterday saying he hoped the terrorist insurgents in Iraq "would continue against occupation and avenge the Iraqi people."
The former Chicagoan added, in remarks carried by Radio Sawa, that he had contributed $2,300 to Obama's campaign.
Obama's opponent, Sen. John McCain, has been making much of the support offered the Illinois senator's campaign by Hamas's top political adviser, Ahmed Yousuf, in an exclusive interview with WND's Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein. News that a fellow Chicagoan is both supporting him politically as well as the insurgency in Iraq is not expected to be welcome news in the Obama camp.
However, al-Samurai's ties to Illinois and Obama don't stop with the financial contribution.
While serving as minister of electricity, al-Samurai brokered deals with Antoin Rezko, the Syrian-American millionaire who backed Obama politically and personally. Rezko was convicted of fraud in Illinois the day Obama unofficially declared himself the winner of the Democratic nomination.
Al-Samurai was appointed minister during the term of Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. After Allawi was booted from office, al-Samurai became a mediator between insurgent groups and Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq.
He was later arrested by Iraqi police in Baghdad on corruption charges but escaped from prison with the help of U.S. private security personnel – leaving Iraq with the help of a forged Chinese passport. He later returned to Chicago where he apparently made his contribution to Obama.
Now he hopes for a return to Iraqi politics as a result of a recently passed amnesty law in the parliament.
He said in Jordan yesterday "the [insurgency] in Iraq is a legitimate resistance, and it is against occupation, and any resistance in the world against occupation is considered legitimate. I hope that [it] continues and avenges the Iraqi people, and I look forward to expanding its political agenda."...
Abu Qatada out on bail.

He may be a US citizen, but he is not an American.
'The Electric Samurai', would be a good title for
for a movie...
"any resistance in the world against occupation is considered legitimate."
Bye-bye Iraq and Afghanistan. Iranians: free yourselves! No one in the West will ever "occupy" you again. All that remains is for all foreign workers to pull out of all of these countries, as a crime prevention measure. Muslims can't kidnap or kill people who aren't there.
People of Darfur: you're on your own.
The next "catastrophe" to occur in the Muslim world should be met with profound silence in the West and "Why?" as the answer to any and all questions about when "humanitarian aid" will arrive in Muslim countries. Granted it's not the Christian thing to do, but it's time the Muslim world stood up for itself in all areas. They're very good at resisting occupation. How good are they at feeding their billion-plus adherents?
Al-Samurai?
Donald Keene and Ivan Morris and Arthur Waleyshould all be living at this hour?
Isn't this a likely mistransliteration for Al-Sammarai, for members of that tribe, or over-extended Arab family, with its a permanent appointment in Samarra?
"I hope that [the "resistance" against the Americans] continues and avenges the Iraqi people, and I look forward to expanding its political agenda."
-- from the article above
Which "Iraqi people"?
Would that "Iraqi people" include only the Arabs, or also refer to the Kurds, who clearly want the Americans to stay to protect the northern region from the Arabs, whose attitude toward the Kurds is well understood?
Would that "Iraqi people" refer to the Sunni Arabs, many of whom now want the Americans to stay to give them more weapons and more money, although once the Americans stop being useful in that way, they will be happy to attack them (come to think of it, they aren't averse to attacking them now, whenever they think they can get away with it, and they can blame either the Shi'a or a rival group of Sunnis?
Or would those "Iraqi people" consist of Shi'a Arabs, who may still want the Americans to stay in order to support the "Iraqi government" which means, of course, the Shi'a Arabs, but aren't averse to attcking the Americans now (what fun!) whenever they think they can get away with it, or blame either the Sunnis or a rival faction of Shi'a?
In any case, the Americans should leave, but not without drawing conclusions from this Al-Samurai or Al-Samarrai, who spent twenty years in the United States, where he had apparently been given refuge, and then helped by American authorities to escape from Baghdad when he faced charges of corruption, and now, in Jordan, pulls the mask off and shows himself for what he always was -- a Muslim who harbors a permanent hatred for Americans as he does for other Infidels, even though it was only the Americans who could, and wo did, at great cost, remove Saddam Hussein, because of whom apparently this man arrived in the United States in the first place. He should never have been admitted -- he could, after all, have spent those 20 years in Amman, or somewhere else in the Arab world. Why didn't he? And what about all those other "Arab refugees" who have come to our shores, and who show no signs of leaving, but are not grateful, and harbor the same malevolence toward us that merely awaits its moment to be revealed?
What about the non-arab indigenous people of Iraq, the Assyrians and Chaldeans? Who speaks for them?
Nibras Kazimi at the Talisman Gate has had an excellent post up on Ayham Alsammarae with some additional information: Pro-Obama Iraqi-American Ex-Convict Supports Increased Attacks on U.S. Troops

Well said PMK. And it's time the Judeo/Christian world stood up and defended itself against this scourge on humanity.
Of course he would contribute the maximum amount to Obama. Like all the earth's rogues he knows Obama will be a pushover and will reduce American authority in the world more than any President in American history. From Pyongyang to Tehran to Beijing to Damascus, they must be dearly hoping for an Obama victory. Makes one think as well about the kind of folks who will be actually voting for Obama. Clueless, ignorant and confused indeed.
