Barack Obama throws a billion Muslims under the bus

UPDATE June 18, 10:35 AM PDT: ABC is reporting that Obama's half brother didn't say Obama had a Muslim background -- and they have the transcript of the interview with Malik Obama to prove it. So the Jerusalem Post story linked in my earlier post about this (link below) appears to be false.

obamamalikholdaphotoofhisbro424_0.jpg
Malik Obama holds photo of himself in 1985 with Barack

As noted here yesterday, Barack Obama's half-brother Malik says that the candidate has a "Muslim background."

Barack Obama himself, however, says he doesn't.

This is question of his honesty, but it also raises another question: by all this increasingly implausible denial that he was ever identified as a Muslim, Barack Obama is implying what he would almost certainly strenuously deny if asked directly. He is implying that there is something wrong, something that would raise questions about one's loyalties, about being a Muslim. He is implying that people would have legitimate concerns about a Muslim President of the United States.

His followers have tried to get around this by saying, "Barack Obama is not a Muslim -- not that there's anything wrong with that except in the eyes of crazed right-wingers." In line with that, Obama himself might reply, if cornered, that no, he doesn't think those concerns are legitimate, but was only recognizing that a significant percentage of the American electorate thinks them legitimate. But that is precisely the portion of the American electorate for which he and his supporters have the most contempt.

So in other words, he is either pandering to what he and his supporters would almost certainly identify as "racism," or he is tacitly acknowledging that Islam's political and societal program makes it a threat to American Constitutionalism. Is there another choice that I am missing? And to do whichever one of these he is doing, he is lying.

And this man could be our next President.

Obama is being an opportunist in denying that he has a Muslim background. He knows that Islam is deeply unpopular and that a personal identification as a Mulim would harm his chances to be elected.
Not only is that dishonest, but it also displays a lack of self-confidence, because a confident person, a person who understands Islam well, would look on that knowledge as a positive thing to bring to the campaign in this post 9/11 era. For example, imagine Ayaan Hirsi Ali as a candidate. With her knowledge and self-confidence, she would be a great asset and would be trusted as a valuable ally against jihadism. Obama is no Hirsi Ali.
Ideally, Obama should say that yes, I was raised a Muslim, and that gives me more understanding about it, and let me talk about it and show you what I know, so you can judge me on the merits of my policy.
Instead, despite his Muslim background, I haven't heard anything that marks him as especially knowledgeable about it. Instead, he's just another person who was raised in one or more nominal faiths, but did not have the wherewithal to formulate any compelling ideas about them.
Obama is really just a very run-of-the-mill, extroverted and shallow politico. Yawn.

It seems that his father was father was a Muslim at the time of his birth which, in the eyes of most, if not all, Islamic scholars made him a Muslim. Later on he formally adopted Christianity and he says that Rev. Wright led him to Christ when he was about 25 years old.

Did he change religions when he was younger, say by baptism? If not the it seems he was a Muslim who converted as an adult making him an apostate.

So someone should try to determine when he formally and provably adopted a non-Muslim faith before the Wright encounter. Being a non religious person during that period won't cut it in this case.

Yes...if he admits he had a Muslim background,That might make him look like an Apostate to the Muslim world.

Ok

so what makes his clothing islamic?

I've seen loads of africans at churches wearing what look to me to be exactly the same style of clothing.....

It there something subtle in the clothing one must look for?

please do tell.......

I can't believe people are even considering this guy. Living in the middle of Philadelphia (aka "Obama-land"), I can't help but wonder if most of my fellow citizens here are completely insane.

This is one of his particularly grievous lies. We have to call him out on this. Why BO have you lied to us about your Muslim background? BO why don't you have your smear site explain this in detail? BO we know you studied the Quran in Indonesia. We know you told Nicholas Kristoff in the NYT interview: the Islamic call to prayer is "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset."

There are SO many problems with this guy, it seems endless. I pray the American public wakes up before November from its slumber, entranced by idiotic and empty platitudes.

My own catchy but empty slogan:

Just say NO to BO!

Just say NO to BO!

Posted by: Peaceful_Muslims?..........I like it...lol

The brother claims Obama has a Muslim Background and Obama denies it. Who it telling the truth...it is known that Obama has the support of Louie "the lip" Farrakahn and the Reverend "GOD damn America" Wright.

"If the support of creatures like Farrakhan and Wright doesn’t raise doubts in the minds of average voters, Obama should call his next book (the sequel to “The Audacity of Hope”) “The Reliability of Dopes.”

There are SO many problems with this guy, it seems endless. I pray the American public wakes up before November from its slumber, entranced by idiotic and empty platitudes.

So far, his supporters have ignored, rationalized or lied about his negative baggage. The left is either stupid, or are just like Obama, clones nearly. Or maybe they are just desperate. Desperation that has erased any traces of sensibility, of honor, of honesty.
Barack...the candidate of desperation...Is the US really 'that' bad off?

by the way. The Reverend "God damn America" Wright certainly does have a relationship with Louie "the lip" Farrakahn...and it goes a long way back.

incidently, both Farrakahn and Wright certainly promote the anti-white racists agendas.

Reverend Wrights Church is more of a political entity than a Church of God. Anyone who has attended a service there would know this.

The Churchs message pounded over and over is essentially anti-white racism and Obama was there for about 20 years..

Obama may not be Muslim, he may not be anti-white, but he is running for President and his background is important.

Islam screws everything up. Afghanistan, Pakistan to you name it all Islamic countries are in a state of utter chaos, violence poverty and destruction. We let these same mentality into western countries and the whole cycle begins again. In the west we Muslims begin to plot bombings and commit crimes against non Muslims. Islam is violence chaos and death. It is sick. We are sending billions of dollars to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan. Billions to Pakistan which uses it to train more Jihadis against India and NATO troops in Afghanistan. To weaken the camp of Islam is to stop all aid, all immigration and ban products from Islamic countries, restrict financial and investment opportunities to Islamic countries. However this might not likely happen, the only thing that I see which can greatly reduce and weaken the camp of Islam is the nuclear option. I truly think that is what it will come down to is a nuclear exchange.

Obama's character flaws have been on display ever since the tapes of his pastor,"uncle" and friend Rev Wright surfaced. There's no good way to explain Obama's association with Wright and his racist church.Either Obama's was duped for 20 years by Wright or he knew what was going on and stayed in the Church for political reasons and to establish his "Christian" credentials.Either way this raises questions about Obama's character and judgement.

Redstate has an interesting analysis of Obama and his "victory" in the Democratic primaries.Obama won none of the big states and basically gamed the caucus system to increase his delegate count. If Dem primaries were winner take all as in the GOP then Clinton would have won the nomination easily.Obama could not put Clinton away even while outspending her 3-1 and sometimes 4-1. As it was Obama needed help from party insiders to secure the nomination. He also was embarrassed by Dem voters in South Dakota who voted for Hillary Clinton even after being told repeatedly by the MSM that Obama had secured the nominations. There are Americans who deeply distrust Barack Obama.

His sister says they used to listen to morning prayers, and BHO has been a "christian" for 20 years.
http://www.commongroundcommonsense.org/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t83566.html
"You didn’t mention the Koran in that list, although Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in the world.
I should have mentioned the Koran. Mom didn’t really emphasize the Koran, but we read little parts of it. We did listen to morning prayers in Indonesia."

"Are you worried about mentioning Islam because it has already been evoked by negative campaigners trying to tarnish your brother?
I’m not worried. I don’t want to deny Islam. I think it’s obviously very important that we have an understanding of Islam, a better understanding. At the same time, it has been erroneously attached to my brother. The man has been a Christian for 20 years."

To me this man is treating the US Electorate as fools and with contempt. It is one of those lies that will have to continually build and build to cover for the last lie until it all comes crashing down.

If only he had always maintained the truth, there would be no confusion.

But then, maybe Hillary would be the nomination...

Actually, his "church" is just as big of a problem as being moslem.
He can say he doesn't agree with Rev. Wrong all he wants, but he stayed at the church for 20 years. When the Rev retired the guy that took his place offers more of the same. I haven't heard one mention of Jesus' forgiveness or redemption from any of the sermons at that place of revolutionary anger. Black Liberation Theology.

I agree. It's called WW3.

We will reach a saturation point with the Mohammedans where any excuses and apologetics on their behalf just don't fly.

There is no need to wonder. It is all there. Be sure to read the section about Saul Alinsky, one of BHO's main 'psyche-shapers'.

I think Bryan Preston put it well when he said that a politician's words are designed so that you will not know what he is thinking. If you want to know what a man thinks look at his friends. If you want to know what a man is look at what he has done.

This would reinforce the argument that he converted as an adult making him an apostate.

I think the clothing in the photo above is more African than Islamic. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

However, the clothing people choose to wear says a great deal about them. The hijab, for instance. It's not "just a piece of cloth" as the Stupids like to say. It's also, and more importantly, a symbol. A symbol of a female's commitment to Islam, which means she's committed to being controlled by uber-patriarchal misogynist males. As well as every other barbarism connected to Islamic belief.

I'd be careful about this if I were you.

Goading the leftists into saying that there is something wrong with being a Muslim might play into their hands.

Americans might just elect Obama knowing about these claims but discounting them and then the pro Islamicists will say that the US knowingly elected a "Muslim."

Your whole approach could easily backfire.

scribe10, to whom are you speaking?

And, can you explain your position a bit more?

Apparently Obama's people have intiated a new webpage to attack his attackers online. l wonder how long it will take for one of his koolaide drinkers to come here and defend the low life?

Whether it's against the GOP or his fellow Democrats, Obama has been given a huge assist by the quality of his competition. The idea of our first woman president is great, but not if it had to be Hillary Rodham Clinton. She treated the entire nomination fight as if it was over from the start. She thought she was entitled to the nomination and she ran her campaign that way. It doesn't inspire any confidence in her as an administrator or as a leader.
John McCain doesn't inspire hope in anyone who is looking for change (sorry). Americans who are looking for reforms, short of amnesty, in our immigration system won't get them from McCain. Anyone who is concerned about outsourcing won't get any help from either party's standard bearer.

payingattention says: To me [Obama] is treating the US Electorate as fools and with contempt.

The game's not over but so far we are proving ourselves deserving of his contempt. We won't demand answers. We are so hung up on not being called racist or feeling a need to "send a message to the world". It seems the American electorate's apparent willingness to elect Obama is making Europeans think more highly of us. We should take that as a warning of things to come.

My concern about Obama has nothing to do with his religion but with his inexperience: Seems to me a 50-50 chance that Obama will be tested with a significant terrorist attack on America (Clinton was in office just over a month when the WTC was attacked the first time; Bush just under 8 months on 9/11/01) and we have no idea what shape his response will take. Indications though, are not reassuring.

I agree that there needs to be clarification as to at what age Obama converted to Christianity, and thereby whether or not he may be branded an apostate by some. Of course there was less Islamic fundamentalism 20 years ago, but punishment can be retrospective and there may be too many nuts out there for Obama's safety. It would be too bad if obsession on this issue were to clear the way for a tragedy, when a little less clamour from the pundits and some tact and sensitivity on this might mean the difference between life and death.
In the circumstances I can understand the reticence of the Obama camp. Bravery would be better though.
Anyhow, would it not be a good and powerful message to send out, that a Christian from an admitted Muslim background, apostate or no, can go on to become president. What better example to set for Muslims everywhere: he converted, and so could you.
Let's wait for a whole new trend; this guy could be a great new role model for Muslims.
That's what we should be focusing on.

I truly think that is what it will come down to is a nuclear exchange.

savsiv,
I hope it does not come down to a nuclear exchange, but only for environment reasons, and also because we shall spend trillions in the rehabilitation of survivors. I do believe our polits will do that even if they order a nuclear strike on these scumoftheearth.

darcy,
Looking at our politicians dithering and falling over themselves to please the jihadis, one can understand why the global jihad lasted this long and was this successful. It does seem unbelievable that a genocidal cult like islam would not just survive, but flourish in the last 1400 years (I use the word "flourish" not in the economic sense, since every territory that has fallen to islam and does not have crude is an abysmal hell hole to which only the suicidically inclined would care to visit, but in the sense of control of territory. islam has been very successful in wrenching territory and in the case of Persia and Egypt have wiped out entire cultures. Same with the Taxila - Gandhar area (now pakiland and afghanistan). Add to it the fact that the muslims will talk us to the death ; just look at how many "peace talks" the so called "palestinians" have had with Israel, and how many "peace talks" the pakis have had with India over Kashmir. Now and then, a so-called "truce" or "cease-fire" is declared, but is rarely honoured by the muslims. They continue their jihad. Look at how the palis continue to bombard Israel and kidnap her soldiers. Same situation in Kashmir. Indian soldiers are killed in the valley and our stupid politicians will sit for another round of "peace talks" with the jihadis. All this time, the muslim population is increasing, both in Israel as well as in India. The polits, looking for votes, will continue to appease the jihadis and dare not take any hard decision which would actually solve the problem. Some very HARD decisions will have to be made, and only that will stop this menace. Unfortunately, I do not see any leader over here or in the West who is actually in a position to take these decisions. So I am not very optimistic about a saturation point. I do think that we have crossed over several saturation points and are now just plain falling.

Maybe I am having a bad day.

From above" Americans might just elect Obama knowing about these claims but discounting them and then the pro Islamicists will say that the US knowingly elected a "Muslim."

Replace the word 'Americans' with 'leftists' and you are on to something.

I'm really getting tired of all this gratuitous Obama bashing. People need to stop the Muslim chatter, the guilt by association, and the second-hand gossip. If Obama personally does or says something that sets off alarm bells, that's fair game, but not all of this innuendo.

In saying this, I recognize that conservatives are more vocal and active about the threat militant Islam than liberals, but the war on Islamic terrorism isn't a partisan issue. This is common ground, and we should work together.

Our elected officials, both Republican and Democratic, have failed to live up to their promises. Neither party has a clear "platform" on addressing the Islamist agenda. Bloggers and their readers use their influence to help shape that platform instead of sniping over the attributes of the candidates' friends and associates.

the guilt by association

Excuse me? How else can we make a judgment about someone who wants to be POTUS ? His closest friends and associates tell us about his inner beliefs.
He sat in a Black Liberation Theology church for 20 years. I will never vote for a man who has those beliefs. The NOI is a welcome branch of the BLT.
His mentor was a communist

‘I will stand with the (Muslims) should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’ Quote by Obama: From Audacity of Hope.
From Dreams of My Father: ‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’

From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’

From Dreams of My Father: ; ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’

I do think you have a point about the several saturation points. That's why when something really big happens, another 9/11 somewhere, that's going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Metonym coincidental.

"I'm really getting tired of all this gratuitous Obama bashing" --Chris

Gratuitous? Hardly.

Posted by: interestinconundrum at June 15, 2008 11:29 AM

Really! Jeremiah Wright was hardly "innuendo," and certainly did set off "alarm bells."

Furthermore, Chris, if you're "getting tired" of "Obama bashing," well, too bad! This is a free country with free speech and if we consider a particular subject matter WORTHY of being bashed, so be it! Oh, and it's not "gratuitous," which means "unwarranted." Indeed, Hussein-bashing comments are warranted as all-get-out. Here's more "alarm bells" - he'll hold talks with mass-murder psychos such as Ahmadinejad. As though they are equivalent to other countries' leaders.

Plus, due to his undeniable Mohammedan background, discussion of Hussein's true religion is entirely warranted. I don't care if he denies it - people lie, you know. Esp. politicians trying for high office, and esp. Mohammedans whose Mohammed-sanctioned Islamic doctrine of "al-Taqiyya" is a given.

Finally, there is validity to "guilt by association." Why don't you start hanging out with rabid, anti-American racist ranting preachers and see how people think of you? Oh, and hang out with them for 20 long years...

From above:I'm really getting tired of all this gratuitous Obama bashing.

Well you better get used to it, because there will be a lot more before there is less. Personally I have no interest in what leftists are 'tired of'.

the guilt by association,...

Only mal informed and biased liberals have never heard of 'birds of a feather flock together'.

The non leftist American public has every right AND DUTY to investigate and comment on any irregularities in candidates for high office. Only liberals would slip in a like minded bum...

I have always enjoyed this website for the interesting information that it provides but I strongly disagree with the thrust of this article. Yes, Obama had a muslim father. But the man is a Christian. He has denied Islam and states that he is a Christian. What is really going on here is the beginning of a smear campaign in order to distract people from the real issues facing us. The current administration has been without a doubt the most incompetent in modern times. President Bush cannot manage anything. He chose people by their loyalty rather than by their competence. He initiated a false war in Iraq resulting in the deaths and injuries of thousands of American soldiers. This has prevented us from more forcefully facing the real threat from Iran. The initial reason for war was because Iraq had WMD. When no WMD's were found the reason was changed to advance democracy in the Middle East. Contrary to what this site has pointed out that Islam and democracy appear to be incompatible.
For the majority of Americans the economy has been a real disaster. I could go on and on.
In the past I generally voted Republican believing in an efficient competent government. What we have seen from the Republicans is neither competence nor efficiency. They want to replace common sense with ideology such as the thrust of this article. I really believe you guys are better than this. Let's see ideas about what is really going on with the conflict with Islam and how best to combat this dangerous ideology.

It really doesn't doesn't matter that much if Obama has an Islamic background or not. If he's as naive about Islam as most political leaders, he'll do as much harm as any Muslim.

People had better consider, that as President, there's no chance Muslim immigration to this country will be restricted. If anything, there will be a great influx of Muslim, African and Hatian immigration into this country. President's have more power over Immigration than most people realize.

you got to laugh at the Rush's theme songs about Obama. the funniest ones.. but Obama has new rules. you cannot mention his middle name nor you bring up his religion, friends, and wife. he is so sacred, he was called the "Magic Negro" in an article from the LA times. and Rush made a song about that article. The Obama kool aid drinkers and those idoits who faint will never ever reason with those who disagree with them.

The money line is this

" So in other words, he is either pandering to what he and his supporters would almost certainly identify as "racism," or he is tacitly acknowledging that Islam's political and societal program makes it a threat to American Constitutionalism. Is there another choice that I am missing? And to do whichever one of
these he is doing, he is lying. "

I heard a commentary the other day on a religious radio station that mentioned a poll that stated that more people would vote for a Muslim for president than would vote for an atheist. But our "progressive" friends are more inclined to act on their recieved wisdom than any polls. I think that Obama was very candid when talking about the poor guns and god people who have antipathy to those who do not look like them.

The whole self evident falsity in Obamas world view of white suburban rural america is that he thought that people cling to guns and god as a type of security blanket, a type of adult thumb sucking necessitated by the downward march that globalization is subjecting America to.

Where it is self evidently false is that the rise of religion in america did not occur with tough economic times, on the contrary, the depression of the thirties saw a rise in faith in the state and state power. The thirties saw the rise of the communist party in the USA and the long discredited idea of internationalism. The thirties saw the religious ideals of many turned over to secular ideals.

But any ideology is as immune to reason as anything else. Obama has travelled in circles where the message of american perfidy is as akin to gospel as "free thinkers" can get. That there is little to recomend the thesis is not a hindrance to its being embraced, progressive books are full of citations of scholarly works citing each other, taking dubious assertions and through repitition pretending they are truth.

From above: The initial reason for war was because Iraq had WMD.

The real reason for the war...Saddam lost the first gulf war. As the loser he agreed to certain terms of surrender. The loser in a war is supposed to act like a loser and live up to his agreements, or the war will resume. Saddam continued to act as a hostile, not a loser. He violated many terms of agreement and fired on American/Brit planes in the no fly zone. After many negotiated efforts to convince him to act like a loser failed, the war resumes. It was never 'over' to begin with. Had Japan surrendered and then kept fighting the same thing would have happened...the war continues...This is the way of war...the loser is not the winner. The winner will make sure of that...

Barack Obama throws a billion Muslims under the bus
Awesome!!! I endorse this guy, and ask all of you to vote for him for this reason alone. Hold your noses on his Marxist leanings, but recognize that he's more of a Marxist than he's a Mohammedan and is not the guy to Islamize this country. Juan McVain, OTOH, by doing what he does, is more likely to drive this country in that direction.
Pandering is appeasement to people who's support one can actually expect: if one panders, how does that make one a liar (unless one expects him to reverse course once elected)? As for the second option, if he is tacitly acknowledging that Islam's political and societal program makes it a threat to American Constitutionalism, why is that a lie? He should be challenged to come up with policies that address this threat as it turns out, not be called a liar.

Is there another choice that you are missing? Of course there is. How about the possibility that he is indeed a messiah (as opposed to the sneering attacks on him as 'messiah' from the good people at hotair), and has an elaborate program to align with the vilest of people now - be it Rashid Khalidi, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayres, Raila Odinga, et al, only to obliterate them later? What is it about you peeps that fail to see that a smooth operator like Obama might be the person sent by the Gods themselves to put out Islam? Hmmmmm???

This post is not in the least gratuitous Obama-bashing. I have been on record for well over a year debunking the "Obama is a secret Muslim" rumors and dismissing such talk as "hooey." This post is not contending that he is a secret Muslim. This post is contending that he is lying by claiming never to have been a Muslim. His brother says he was. All sorts of other people say he was. Why not just admit it? In not admitting it, he is either pandering or admitting that Islam is not peaceful, and in either case is being dishonest.

That's all.

Cordially
Robert Spencer

One more thing - like a poster in the earlier thread noted, there is nothing Islamic about that outfit Obama is wearing - it's traditional African garb. If he was really a Mohammedan, Michelle would be in a hijab, and trotting about the house barefoot and pregnant, while both their kids would be getting ready to join Jenna Bush in matrimony.

So let's get over this 'Obama is/was a secret/open Muslim' non-story already, and focus on how to make him less and less Marxist as time goes on, sort of the same way McCain has gone over the years from being a genuine Conservative to a wannabe Liberal.

Infidel Pride

As I said, and have said repeatedly, this is not about his being a secret Muslim. This is about whether or not he is an honest man.

Cordially
Robert Spencer

Also, how about the possibility that his brother, being a Mohammedan, is a liar, and that Barack is as pure as the wind driven snow? I believe Barack over any Mohammedan anyday.

Hold your noses on his Marxist leanings, but recognize that he's more of a Marxist than he's a Mohammedan and is not the guy to Islamize this country.

Infidel Pride,

Marxism and Mohammedanism are both totalitarian belief systems. I wouldn't vote for a Marxist anymore than I'd vote for someone whose belief system dictated that I wear a burkha, give up my wine or pay jizya.
The time to make him less and less Marxist is before he campaigns for president, not after. Once he's occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it will be too late.

The following is a little long but its quotations from Quran in comparison to what Obama has said.

Obama on his coming to God:

"I felt I heard God’s spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth and carrying out His works.” [Speech, 6/23/07]"

The following verse is from the Quran Chapter (Surah) 2, “The Cow” or Al-Baqara (also al-Baqarah).

The same verse in parallel translations:

002.131
YUSUFALI: Behold! his Lord said to him: “Bow (thy will to Me):” He said: “I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe.”
PICKTHAL: When his Lord said unto him: Surrender! he said: I have surrendered to the Lord of the Worlds.
SHAKIR: When his Lord said to him, Be a Muslim, he said: I submit myself to the Lord of the worlds.

==

This isn’t just anyone in the Quran either, its Abraham, or Ibrahim. This is the verse just before the one that Obama paraphrased.

002.130
YUSUFALI: And who turns away from the religion of Abraham but such as debase their souls with folly? Him We chose and rendered pure in this world: And he will be in the Hereafter in the ranks of the Righteous.
PICKTHAL: And who forsaketh the religion of Abraham save him who befooleth himself? Verily We chose him in the world, and lo! in the Hereafter he is among the righteous.
SHAKIR: And who forsakes the religion of Ibrahim but he who makes himself a fool, and most certainly We chose him in this world, and in the hereafter he is most surely among the righteous.

==

“How to Become a Muslim”

This verse is used on the page How to Become a Muslim.

So here we have it. When God showed Abraham the perfect religion, He commanded Abraham to Submit (”Aslimu”) and Abraham said “Aslamtu li rabbil aalameen”. This is how MUSLIMS (or converts) should attest their faith (or to convert);

“I SUBMIT TO THE LORD OF THE WORLDS”

==

” I SUBMIT MYSELF TO THE LORD OF THE WORLDS”.

To be a Muslim is to say like Prophet Ibrahim When his Lord said to him, Be a Muslim, he said: I submit myself to the Lord of the worlds.

Obama:

I felt I heard God’s spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth and carrying out His works.

Also, how about the possibility that his brother, being a Mohammedan, is a liar, and that Barack is as pure as the wind driven snow? I believe Barack over any Mohammedan anyday.

Posted by: Infidel Pride at June 15, 2008 1:23 PM

Unless of course, Barack really IS a "mohammedan."

This reminds me of a game where a liar lies only on Thursday and Friday on odd numbered weeks, Monday and Tuesday on even numbered weeks, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday if the week is evenly divisible by 3, every third full moon of an odd leap year ...
and so the question boils down to simply is he lying today or telling the truth?

Is he or isn't he? Only his handlers know for sure.

Robert

Thanks. I was referring more to the criticism of BO by most of the above posters: I know, and accept, your acceptance of BO's claim that he's not, and has never been a Muslim. Nor do I think that all this Obama-bashing is gratuitious: I'm just calling on people to vote for the sheep in wolf's clothing over the wolf in sheep's clothing. As it is, there will likely be a majority Liberal Congress: if McCain wins, it'll eliminate any opposition to Islam within the GOP itself, given McCain's stands on Gitmo, torture, et al. Instead, people need to treat Obama like he is God, so that genuine anti-Islamic Conservatives can reclaim the GOP (It won't happen if McCain becomes president and gets to pick all GOP staff, in addition to giving Constitutional rights to all the Mujahids captured in Afghanistan and Iraq, among other battlegrounds)

I do think that the claim by Muslims, like Malik Obama, that Barack was/is Muslim falls in the same category as those that claim that Jesus, Moses, Abraham and Neil Armstrong were/became Muslims. Just more Mohammedan triumphalism.

I do not consider Obama to be a truthful man in the least. His associations, past and present, are directly contradictory to the illusion about the candidate of change he likes to view himself as.

It comes down to the devil you know as opposed to the one you do not know, for me. As much as I oppose McCain's positions on immigration, Guantanomo and global warming, he is by far the superior choice if you acknowledge the threat of the Islamic jihadists, whether overt or covert.

The article is clear and Robert's position is valid. This is simply another example in a long line of examples regarding Obama's truthfulness.

Infidel
The only way we'll wake up to the Islamic threat is when a major mall goes boom and we're stacking bodies like so many pieces of fire wood for sale at Wal-Mart.

Nothing else will make a dent in the American psyche in regards to the threat Islam poses.

As for Obama, make no mistake he is a national security risk. His 23 year membership in a church that preached Black Liberation Theology, which promotes white racism, anti-semitism, segregation, Marxism, etc. The add to it his friendship with the ex-terrorists Ayers, Dorhn, Khalidi.

Then there is his association with Rezko and Saddam's ex-bagman and all around Iraqi criminal Auchi.

Not to mention writing two books and couldn't say a good word about the U.S. or the west or even his white grandparents.

Its clear that Obama from the beginning has no use for the U.S. or its citizens and has his own hidden agenda.

But if you want a monster like Obama, that will open the flood gates to Islam and every American hating miscreant, fine go vote for your God, Obama.

From above: treat Obama like he is God,

I take that as a joke.
Does that mean we have to bow and scrape? Can we look him right in the eye's or do we have to look down and avoid eye contact...Phooey on treating him or any other man as a god...

Satan is frequently described as The Lord of the World. I wouldn't have much trust for someone who submits to a self-described Lord of the World(s).

Just a thought about alliances.

The only way we'll wake up to the Islamic threat is when a major mall goes boom and we're stacking bodies like so many pieces of fire wood for sale at Wal-Mart.

What - a few hundred people will die shopping for household items or for clothes for their kids? Not even that will be enough. 3,000 in one day didn't get through to the American psyche. Five hundred, more or less, won't either. Rest assured it will be blamed on America, as RFK's assassination was recently blamed on HIM.
When we ask how it could have been prevented, the discussion will come back to America's support for this leader or that country. We will jump through hoops to avoid placing the blame where it belongs - on the perpetrators.

“THIS ARTICLE PRESENTS NEW, PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED documentation concerning ethnic identity claims. It is based upon original research that the author openly invites for further inquiry and academic verification”

“Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African from his father's side.”

“Federal law requires that to claim a minority status, one must be at least 12.5% of the racial component you claim for minority status. Mr. Obama, claiming to be African-American, is half the legal threshold.”

And, yes, I do have an on-topic comment. I believe Obama is neither a Muslim, nor a Christian (no one who willingly associated with the good Reverend Wright and accepted his doctrine could be called a Christian), nor is Obama an honest atheist.

I believe Obama is a man-like thing, controlled by something else. I believe Obama is an antichrist, if not THE Antichrist.

Is Obama really clueless, or is he just empty?

Call me crazy--I'll accept the diagnosis, and I'll pray you're right. However, even if I am a nutjob, America doesn't have much to choose from, come election day. I can't see a candidate for the Presidency who would not bring catastrophe down upon us.

TINBH,

I read a discussion of Obama's racial background at another website that was very interesting. Although African-Americans overwhelming supported Obama in the democrat primaries. Obama is not African American at all.His mother is white and his father is Kenyan. Obama has nothing in common with the African descendants of slaves in America. He actually has more in common with the Arab slave traders who sold black Africans into slavery. Will African-Americans continue to support a descendant of Arab slave traders?

Infidel Pride:

I'm not saying you're wrong about Obama versus McCain, but I am puzzled by the way you characterize the candidates. Since I'm not an American I don't really have a dog in this fight and don't know enough about the candidates or the issues to feel confident in stating a preference between the two with any vigour or certainty, but given what I know or think I know about them from what I glean from the U.S. media and the web (including this site), it seems to me that McCain is the one with the stronger anti-Jihadist credentials. He at least has been willing to speak of the Islamic roots of Jihadist terrorism, unlike both Obama (and the recently sidelined Hillary alike) who have kept their heads down and gone along with the PC "religion of peace" nonsense, and is Obama any less friendly to the Gitmo prisoners than McCain? On what basis then are you suggesting that McCain would be more Jihadi-friendly than Obama? I'd appreciate it if could spell this out for me. Please be specific.

By the way, you're description of Obama as a "Marxist" seems, at the very least, rather odd for at least two reasons. First of all, I would not even consider him a Social Democrat. I WOULD describe Hillary that way - she at least is committed to the principle of universal health care - probably the most important marker of identity for the left around the world, and the achievement they point to typically with the greatest pride but Obama apparently doesn't advocate it - and Obama, apart from the politics of race, is typically seen as more "elitist" and more distant than Hillary from the labour movement and the underclasses that the left claims to champion. Even these leftist mainstays, assuming he believed in either of them, would not make Obama or anyone else - not even Hillary - "Marxist" (though I'd be willing to call her many things, none of them good), at least not in the conventional sense that orthodox Marxists and hard left-wing types would accept. Social Democrats have tended to distance themselves from Marx (and his ideological heirs), holding at most a vague respect for him for his efforts to articulate the issues of the working classes and in general as an important figure in the history of socialist ideas. They tend to retain a strong degree of attachment to the naive "scientific materialism" that his and other classical socialists' theories were based on - a mark of their continuing attachment to the discredited ideology of socialism - but with various reservations, qualifications, doubts and distinctions, and with a strong emphasis to the principle of gradual transformation of society through democratic and parliamentary reform rather than through violent revolution and Marx' "dictatorship of the proletariat". So your description of him as a "Marxist" seems inaccurate, or at least as something that would be incomprehensible to political science types.

Secondly, and more importantly perhaps, I can't think of any less effective way to advocate for someone like Obama in a society like the U.S. - typically seen as far more conservative than most western democracies and having a much more ideologically constricted and much less effective left - than to use a word like "Marxist" to describe him, particularly when nobody else in the thread used that term or even suggested anything close to it. It's not like you had to defend him from this label in response to someone else using it first. It seems to me you're sabotaging your candidate.

TINBH,

Interesting info...thanks for the link...

Robert,

You are missing the choice that, all together, Obama realizes that the American electorate has a problem with Islam, realizes that Islam has some problems and really never thought of himself as a Muslim and probably resented hs whacky mother from dragging him around the world and marrying strange men as part of her identity quest, and resented his father to the point of reverse-idolation for abandoning him.

Obama is a Christian and his garb here is not Islamic. Not even in "the algerbra is not Islamic kind of way."

The first is an issue worth exploring because it brings up issues of soft creep which the sharia will do. The second kind of scoff is just rediculous and does you nor the cause any good.

This is my first point critical of Robert ever on this site, btw. Just do not want to lose the ability to make the important ones.

Everyone:

I think that several people are right -- I was hasty in the caption. It's just an African outfit, with some possible questions about the hat. I apologize. And I am going to fix the caption.

Obama could lay all this to rest once and for all by saying, yes, he was registered as a Muslim in Indonesia and went to Qur'an class (as he has acknowledged doing), but the problem arises when he says flatly that he wasn't raised a Muslim. Well, it isn't just his brother who suggests otherwise.

And I repeat: this is NOT a Manchurian candidate issue. This is an honesty issue.

Obama takes on the Great Global Blogosphere Conspiracy Against His Holiness
By Melanie Phillips June 13, 2008

Today's Guardian reports that Barack Obama is setting up an entire unit to combat "virulent rumours" about him on the internet. Doubtless one of the blogs in the sights of team Obama is Little Green Footballs, which in the last few days has been excavating examples of wildly anti-Jewish and anti-American prejudice and conspiracy theories posted up by fans on Obama's own website. LGF is making hay with the fact that the Obamanables are belatedly taking (some of) this stuff down from the site while simultaneously insisting that its presence is nothing to do with them because the website has no moderators. Yeah, right.
The Guardian quotes the director of some monitoring outfit as saying that the blogosphere's smears about Obama are particularly vicious.

He added that one of the most persistent is that Obama, a Christian, is "some kind of Muslim Manchurian candidate, planted by Islamic fundamentalists to betray the country and it is very widespread".

Well now. Crazed Jew-hating American-loathing moonbats posting comments on Obama's website are one thing. But the fact is that there are serious and troubling questions about Obama's ancestry and associations and what he himself has said about them, which have surfaced in the blogosphere but have been almost wholly ignored by the mainstream media in its collective Obamanic swoon.
First is his childhood background. Last November, his campaign website carried a statement with the headline:
Barack Obama Is Not and Has Never Been a Muslim

followed by
Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.

Obama has also said:
I've always been a Christian

and
I've never practised Islam.
But none of this is true. As is explored in detail on Daniel Pipes's website, Obama was enrolled at his primary schools in Indonesia as a Muslim; he attended the mosque during that period; his friends from that time testify that he was a devout Muslim boy. A former teacher at one of these schools, Tine Hahiyary, remembers a young Obama who was quite religious and actively took part in "mengaji" classes which teach how to read the Koran in Arabic. The blogger from Indonesia who reported this commented:
"Mengagi" is a word and a term that is accorded the highest value and status in the mindset of fundamentalist societies here in Southeast Asia. To put it quite simply, "mengaji classes" are not something that a non practicing or so-called moderate Muslim family would ever send their child to... The fact that Obama had attended mengaji classes is well known in Indonesia and has left many there wondering just when Obama is going to come out of the closet.

His father was a Muslim, as was his stepfather. His grandfather was a Muslim convert. His wider family appear to have been largely devout Muslims. Yes, we only know about Obama?s early years as a Muslim; and yes, twenty years ago he became a Christian. The issue, however, is why he has been less than candid about his early background and his family. Indeed, he appears to have actively deceived the public about it. That is why the blogosphere is so exercised about it.
Now here's another curious thing. Much has been made of his membership of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago whose former pastor and his long-standing mentor, Jeremiah Wright, Obama was forced finally to renounce on account of his obnoxious views (although he has signally failed unequivocally to denounce those views themselves and the no less obnoxious philosophy of the Trinity United black power church). But according to a passing reference in a profile in The New Republic last year, Pastor Wright was himself a Muslim convert to Christianity. He seems to have moved from being a Muslim black power fanatic to a Christian black power fanatic -- which might go some way to explaining his close affinity to the Muslim black power ideologue Louis Farrakhan.
Then there is also Obama's troubling support for the Kenyan opposition leader -- and his cousin -- Raila Odinga, the leader of the violent uprising a few months ago against the newly elected Kenyan government and who signed a memorandum of understanding with Kenyan Muslims to turn Kenya into an Islamic state governed by sharia law. At the time, the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya released a statement in which church leaders said Odinga
comes across as a presumptive Muslim president bent on forcing Islamic law, religion and culture down the throats of the Kenyan people in total disregard of the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of freedom of worship and equal protection of the law for all Kenyans.
As the Atlas Shrugs site reported, Obama actually went to Kenya in 2006 and spoke at rallies in support of Odinga, causing the Kenyan government to denounce him as "Raila's stooge". Why was Obama supporting such a person? Why has no-one bothered to find out?
Daniel Pipes makes another highly significant point about Obama's Muslim background. He points out that, in the eyes of the Muslim world, Obama remains a Muslim regardless of what religion he now professes because he was born to a Muslim father. By his own admission (of Christianity) therefore, he is a Muslim apostate -- a status regarded by the Muslim world as a sin to be punished by death. Pipes thinks this would put his life in danger and undermine his initiatives towards the Muslim world. But surely the more significant point is that much of that Muslim world has actually embraced him. Indeed the Muslim Brothers of Hamas -- who most certainly would regard any Muslim apostate as someone to be eliminated -- actually came out publicly in support of him (until Obama blotted his copybook by professing undying support for Israel).
We are entitled therefore to ask whether the Muslim world supports him because it believes he is still a Muslim. We are entitled to ask precisely when he stopped being a Muslim, and why. Did Obama embrace Christianity as a tactical manoeuvre to get himself elected? Why indeed has he dissembled about his family background if not for that end?
These multiple known deceptions by someone who may become President of the United States are deeply alarming. The concealment is the issue. To dismiss such concerns and the related questions they provoke as a smear campaign is to attempt to browbeat into silence those who legitimately raise them and require urgent answers as a matter of the most acute public interest.

From above: The concealment is the issue...

Exactly...The article by Kenneth Lamb is very interesting...

Wait a minute! How come there's not shock and outrage over this horrific display of Islamophobia, exhibited by the half-brother of Our Next President -- why, the horror -- he implied that Muslims don't always treat Jews fairly!

As the Jerusalem Post reports, “Barack Obama’s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya.”

When are Ahmed Bedier and the OIC and Deep Doudou going to demand he be sent to rehab for this shocking and historically untrue assertion?

When?

Islamophobe.

From above: The concealment is the issue...

Exactly...The article by Kenneth Lamb is very interesting...

To all above

I agree that Obama is problematic as a candidate. However, I deeply believe that McCain is worse: he has the same shortcomings as Bush, his criticism of 'Jihad' is just a code for reminding people of his backseat driving of the DOD and obsession with Rumsfeld, rather than a Tancredoesque like realization that Islam itself is problematic ("I admire the Islam"). While McCain may be superficially preferrable to Obama, the biggest problem if he is elected is that anti-Mohammedans will be left stranded, since the President determines the National Committees of his party, but the Dems won't step up to this constituency. OTOH, if Obama gets elected and turns out to be as ugly on Islam as everyone thinks, that would at least allow the Sue Myricks to determine policy as they see fit.

As for my suggestions above to treat him as God explicitly, it was suggested to mock the Kossacks and the Soros gang, since they would then be challenged to separate themselves from an apparant Obama cult. I just wish there was someone like Romney around to actually benefit from this circus about Obama, rather than a McCain who has zero differences with him in some major Islamic issues (not to mention shamnesty, global warming, McCain-Kennedy, et al)

As for what happens if he does get elected, if it's followed by blatant pandering to Iran and Hamas, Obama would not only risk losing the presidency in 2012, but the Congress in 2010. No matter what he does, he cannot make this country an Islamic Republic in 4 years.

"scribe10, to whom are you speaking? And, can you explain your position a bit more?" Darcy

Darcy, I am referring to Robert's main post.

I don't want to elect a Muslim as President of the US under any circumstances.

I don't support Obama but I don't think there is any evidence to suggest that he is a Muslim.

Bringing this up will only give the Muslims as excuse to talk about "discrimination" and "racism."

Obama shouldn't be elected for many, many reasons.

He is inexperienced, and he judgment about people have been faulty.

Let's campaign on those issues and some others rather on his supposed Muslim connection.

Mr. Spencer, I have a question?

You said...

"about whether or not he is an honest man."

An honest politician? Is that possible?

I agree. The GOP will never change unless they are forced to change. An Obama victory would bring about the long needed cleaning house of the GOP. Plus I am getting sick and tired of smacking around a president who is a Republican, time for a Dem to get lit up.

They both have plans that will lead us to defeat in the long run.

I am still voting for McCain (MY state is going for Obama anyway...so it does not matter for me), but if we stay in Iraq, as we have done up to this point, for four more years then god help this nation. We need to get out of Iraq before we can move in the right direction. The Iraq war is the number one reason why the message of this site (JW) has not penetrated more heads in the GOP. If you accept the premise that Iraq will work than it should mean you think JW is wrong about Islam. I don’t have a clue how anyone could think otherwise, but yet here they are….

"Yes, Obama had a muslim father. But the man is a Christian. He has denied Islam and states that he is a Christian." -- David

So what? People lie, and they lie all the time. Especially politicians.

Nixon said he had nothing to do with Watergate. That was a lie. From a President! Bill Cinton said
"I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Total lie. From a President!

I don't give a flying what Hussein Obama SAYS - I look at his ACTIONS. He's a Mohammedan. Just like his relatives. I don't hear him saying anything about Jesus. Nothing. Not one word.

Excuse me, Bill Clinton. A total liar.

Like Hussein Obama.

Oh, and Gary Hart. "Oh, Press, I'm not doing anything wrong! Just follow me!"

And the Press did. And found the "Monkey Business." End of Gary Hart for President.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Boubous, as opposed to dashikis, are worn almost exclusively by Muslims."

Okay, let's think. Is Malik proudly showing the photo, while raising questions about BHO's fidelity to Jews and his "Muslim background", because Malik wants us to know his half-brother has an African heritage?

On April 30, 2007, The New York Times Published an interview with Obama's only sibling from his Mother. In this interview Obama's half sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, said,

“My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim.”

"Sarah Hussein Obama, who is his stepgrandmother but whom Mr. Obama calls his grandmother, still rises at 5 a.m. to pray ... 'I am a strong believer of the Islamic faith,' Ms. Obama, 85, said in a recent interview in Kenya."

Obama is not an honest man. He obfuscates the truth and finds it to be the case time and time again people are not who he thought they were. He's a dissembler and also a deplorable judge of character.

At first, I did not know who he was. Then I was an observer of his charm. And then I realized that a facade was being presented to the American people as enlightenment and depth (oh yeah, change and hope too). We've come a long way from the likes of Truman and Reagan. I see descent, not ascent. Those Americans who see the latter, and there are millions of them, are the enemy within to traditional America and Western Civilization (the enemy without, of course, is the Islamic world). Critical mass is upon us. Interesting times.

Poor old lady. Rising so early to pray to a pagan deity that doesn't exist. Pitiful.

Hey Hussein - why don't you enlighten your granny about Jesus, the Son of God, and how she should pray to Him? I mean, you ARE a Christian, right??

Because she believes that Jesus is just a lowly slave to "Allah," and that slave Jesus will be helping "Allah" in the future to destroy both Judaism and Christianity. Until the world is "all for allah."

But, you think that falsehood is wrong, don't you, Hussein? Don't you? Well, SAY IT! Aren't you a Christian???

Infidel Pride:

I hate to keep raining on your parade. Keep in mind that, as you might have gleaned from my earlier comments, I have had my own history of involvmement with the Left, and I would LIKE to be able to think that a candidate like Obama, with all his soothing and high-minded rhetoric, could be a worthy candidate who could present real solutions to the problems of America and the world, and a saviour against Islam, but I just can't. I find the analysis of Robert Spencer, very moderate, well-reasoned and sensible in general, in this case, more or less persuasive as well. Particularly damning of Obama are his "ambiguity" (to put it politely) about just what his involvement with Islam was in the past and the disturbing associations that his family connections bring to various issues - to date, Jews, Israel, and the expansion and consolidation of Islam in Africa (and, by analogy, elsewhere in the developing world?).

I have followed your postings with considerable attention ever since I began posting at Jihadwatch and I have no doubt about your good intentions, but I think you are advocating a very risky strategy in supporting Obama's election. I find McCain's ideology objectionable for various reasons, but Obama's candidacy even more so. I would call it "disturbing" in fact. A McCain victory, even though it might not bring issues like resolution of poverty and race relations onto centre stage in the way that I would like to see in the U.S., would, I believe, send a firm message of resolve to miscreants like Ahmedinejad, and I see hope in McCain's energy independence policy that he will move substantially toward finally ending your dependence on Middle Eastern oil, which would make it easier to challenge the Sowdis. In light of these considerations, if I could vote in your election, I would, to reverse your rhetoric, "hold my nose" and vote for McCain.

You are probably correct that Obama could not turn the U.S. into an Islamic republic in four years, but he may be able to do a hell of a lot of damage to free speech and the morale of the anti-Jihadist forces in your country.

No matter what he does, he cannot make this country an Islamic Republic in 4 years.

"The devil never grants long leases." --Irish saying

Now that Obama has the top job in his sights here's the results of the 2 organizations he has been in charge of.

President of the Harvard Law Review - The main reason he was elected was he was well liked by most of his fellow editors. "Obama presided over a general "dumbing down" of previously observed standards for defining scholarly material worthy of publication in the nation's leading law journal (with unconventional, sometimes sloppy, sometimes even profane, material now counting as publishable "scholarship") He was somewhat indifferent, even lazy, in the execution of his day-to-day editorial responsibilities, with a concrete result: the final published content of the Review was not as rigorously thought out, and tightly edited, as had previously been the case with the Review. Obama's lowering of standards for what constitutes publishable material, in an effort to appease the radical element on the Review which didn't want to adhere to traditional standards, played a key role in the turmoil which engulfed the Review during the two years immediately following his tenure. The two presidents who had the misfortune to follow Obama found it impossible to put the genie back in the bottle, and they endured personal castigation on multiple fronts for their unsuccessful efforts to clean up after Obama -- to try to beat back the radical element on the Review which had been emboldened by Obama's presidency."
http://www.volokh.com/posts/1202117776.shtml

Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Subcommittee on European Affairs - "He’s held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan," Clinton said.

"Senate hearings do not merely provide occasions to fulfill a critical purpose in providing information and perspective to lawmakers"
Ritch points out that as subcommittee chair, Obama could have examined a wide variety of urgent matters, from the role of NATO in Afghanistan and Iraq to European energy policy and European responses to climate change, consulting our allies on proposed missile defense deployments. There is, indeed, almost no issue of current global interest that would have fallen outside the subcommittee's purview."

Probably not, but how about eight?

BO has shown himself to be a pathological liar. We, the people, need to hold him accountable since the MSM will not. BO cannot be allowed to lie and make politically expedient statements with impunity. This man is trying to become the leader of the United States, the free-world and the most powerful position in the world. He clearly has close and long associations with RADICALS including Palestinian/Muslims, Marxist/Socialists, Anarchists/Anti-Americans, and Anti-Semites/Anti-Whites.

What are you Obamabots thinking??????????????? snap out of it!

Well I think Mr Wright is an interesting case, he converted to Christianity from Islam but continued to sprout forth the same Nation of Islam muck that he sporuted before that conversion, Obamas conversion to Christianity is as sincere as Mr Wrights.

I do not trust Obama one bit and I am now asking myself how much damage can he do in 4 years, I think that the destruction of Israel is one such thing that will happne in those 4 Obama years, and of course the deliberate running down of the US military...

It is a skull cap that muslims wear when praying and for several hours after praying to showed that they have prayed

The thrust of Robert Spencer's argument is that Obama registered in elementary school in Indonesia as a Muslim and attended a Qur'an class, so for Obama to claim that he never was a Muslim is deceptive.

Spencer is well aware that two very different cultures impinge on this discussion. In one, religion is defined at birth based on the religion of the male parent, there is no concept of "age of consent," and silence (as in the case of a child bride) is interpreted as consent. In this context, Obama was a Muslim, and furthermore, now he could be killed for having left Islam. This is quite a burden to put on the shoulders of a contender for the Presidency of the U.S.

In the other culture, religion is by choice, most faiths do not recognize that choice unless it is made after one reaches the "age of consent" or at least a basic understanding of the religious vows, and consent is always registered by an affirmative statement rather than silence. In this context, Obama never was a Muslim. His chosen faith is Christianity.

I don't believe that Obama is being deceitful, but rather he is expressing the nature of his religious faith WITHIN the context of the culture in which he lives. That's sufficient for me.

Chris-

snap out of it man! Obama has blatantly lied about being a Muslim. It's enough for you that your would-be president is lying to you? you're okay with that?

Wow, are you naive.

So if Obama hadn't lied about being a muslim there would be no other issues with him? The view here in Canada is of a Presidential candidate who can orate like a professional and use positive language to make vague promises. In short he seems to be a windbag at best and another lying Liberal at worst. I wouldn't want a Liberal running my country either.

Another thing we Canadians have in common with you is poor choices at election time. A country the size of America should have better choices than an ex-president's power-mad wife, a windbag quasi-muslim, or another ageing war hero.

You'd think, anyway. I'd be okay with "another aging war hero", if it weren't "a maverick RINO tempramental aging war hero who created the campaign financing mess that gave us no better choices than an ex-president's power-mad wife, a windbag quasi-muslim, or another aging war hero".

Chris,

Did you see any of Rev Wright's recent media tour? Rev Wright, who has known Bracak Obama for 20 years claims Obama is a phony who will say whatever he needs to say to get elected. It was only after Wright exposed Obama that Obama ended their relationship.Do you really think you can trust Bracak Obama?
