"A statement Monday by the prosecutor said Wilders made his anti-Muslim remarks in the context of a legitimate debate."
A victory for free speech and common sense. But there remains the Jordanian effort to use Interpol to secure his arrest and extradition. "No charge in Dutch Muslim incitement," from the Associated Press, June 30:
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — The public prosecutor's office says it will not charge right-wing legislator Geert Wilders with inciting hatred for his film denouncing the Quran.
The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal.
A statement Monday by the prosecutor said Wilders made his anti-Muslim remarks in the context of a legitimate debate, and he could not be charged for incitement or discrimination.
Wilders told The Associated Press he was not surprised by the decision because he had stayed within the boundaries of the law.
Wilders' film, titled "Fitna," appeared on the Internet in March. It aroused protests around the Muslim world.
Well, well, well. What a pleasant surprise:
A victory, for the moment, for free speech, and for Geert Wilders.
But what is to happen with this "warrant" out of Jordan? We shall see what the government of The Netherlands is made of, now.
The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal.
The truth hurts.
Hurray for Geert! And good for the Dutch court, for realizing it it not illegal to hurt and insult any group, even crybaby muslims.
"The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal."
Evidently, the prosecutor and I watched different films. The one I watched had Qur'anic verses, and video examples of how those verses were followed in the Muslim world.
Hurtful? Insulting?
Then, stop doing those things, stupid! Stop condoning them. Stop financing them. Stop turning a blind eye to them. Stop glorifying "martyrdom"! Stop showing killer kiddie shows, on your TV stations. Stop preaching violent jihad, in your mosques. Just stop, already!
If jihad is your number one cultural export, then you don't have much of a culture. Work on that.
Sorry if I've hurt any widdle Muswim feewings.

Great post, Abscedere.
"The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal."
Why are we supposed to care about hurting and insulting Nazi feelings? Why?
Beats me how you can hurt and insult genocidal mass murderers.
These dhimmi dummies would have dinner with the Devil.
A welcome decision nevertheless.
This thread is about Mr. Wilders, and so I am posting this here. I think that it is a good idea to hold an anti-jihad conference/meeting and to include as many of the Infidel anti-jihadis/anti-dhimmis as we possibly can. We must try and get as people from everywhere, i.e., people from Serbia, Russia, Britain, Mr. Wilders from Netherlands, the cartoonists from Denmark, France, Norway, Narendra Modi from India, US, Canada, Australia, Maldives, Malaysia. Let us try and get these anti-jihadis from every place that is suffering from islamists, and let us also include scholars of islam in this. Mr. Spencer, Melanie Phillips, Ali Sina, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, ________ (add who you think should also be there). Let us also fly the flags of the countries whose scholars/leaders/authors/anti-jihadis are participating in the grounds of the venue. I think that such a conference with so many people from across geographies and cultures is bound to get a lot of attention. Let us also try to get as much co-operation from the anti-jihad groups online. There are a whole lot of them now, Infidel Bloggers Alliance, 9/10 Group, islamicterrorism, the people over at historyofjihad.org, let us try and rope in everyone. Let us also make a point of highlighting the jihad history of a particular country/region prior to the speech by the scholar/author/anti-jihadi of that country/region.
There are several other ideas that can be added to the agenda, but this is only the first proposal, and we can work out the details/incorporate suggestions. The organization of such an event is quite a challenge, and I do not know if the time is ripe for it or not. But I think that it is a good idea.
I still don't understand how Fitna can be considered insulting to Muslims. It doesn't show anything that the 6 o'clock news hasn't shown, or that Arab TV stations haven't shown, for that matter. What part of Fitna is insulting or not true? Wilders didn't speak or write any of his own words in the film. So how can he be charged with insulting Islam?
Answer to one of the chosen people:
Fitna is considered insulting to Muslims even though it shows the truth. As we saw in the BNP Nick Griffin trials, the truth cannot be considered an excuse when either depicting Muslim intentions or showing them in video. It is automatically assumed that any criticism of Islam be considered a "hate crime." This trumps telling the truth. It is a crime to insult the so called prophet or the Koran in Muslim law and they feel, along with some of the dhimmified political jellyfish, that this should also overrule the principle of free speech that Western civilisation is built upon. I hope I answered your question.
The enemies of Wilders are already filing an appeal to have the prosecutor's decision overturned.
"The prosecutor says the film and statements Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal."
Now, Mr. Prosecutor do your duty! How many Muslims are to be indicted for assault against Mr. Wilders? Who is to be indicted for conspiracy to commit murder against Mr. Wilders? Threats to kill you and threats to beat you up are criminal. Threatening someone harm is not just insulting or hurtful, it is criminal. Where are the thousands of indictments, Mr. Prosecutor?
Why do we put victims on trial instead of the other way around?
You know, one thing that really frustrates me is the undeniable fact that if any Christian started acting offended at the constant attacks on our faith, he or she would be answered by howls of laughter from the establishment.
But tell the truth about Islam, and you are called "hurtful and insulting".
Interestingly enough, the "hurtful and insulting but not criminal" line comes from a non-Muslim. The Muslims for the most part are screaming for Mr. Wilders head (literally).
"were hurtful and insulting" well these poor sufering muslims, l wonder how many muslims it takes for a court case to come against in infidel?
Kudos to the Jerusalem Post.
When they ran this news item in their online edition, which I just saw this morning, they embedded in it a clip from 'Fitna' - just click to view.
As I recall, they have done that just about every time there is a new twist in the Wilders/ Fitna saga.
Now: what Jerusalem Post, and every other major free world, kafir world news outlet REALLY ought to be doing, is embedding permanently, in their online face to the world, three links: to 'Fitna'; to 'Islam: What the West Needs to Know'; and, In Memory of Theo Van Gogh, "Submission". Oh yes: and THOSE cartoons.
Wilders wrote in Dutch newspapers were hurtful and insulting but not criminal.
so the 9/11 attack was far more hurtful so imo mudlims (muslims)have no grounds to bitch
