BAGHDAD, June 21 (KUNA) -- US forces in Iraq have detained five insurgents with connections to Iranian intelligence during a two-day raid on militia groups in Baghdad and Hilla that started on Friday.The US Army said in a statement released on Saturday that an operation carried out in Baghdad led to the arrest of an Iranian-trained militia group leader, who also held information leading to several sources from the Iranian secret intelligence....
Seperatly [sic], another raid was carried out in the city of Hilla, south of Baghdad, leading to the capture of the head of a terrorist training and assassination network.
The terrorist network is a division of the Mahdi Army and receives backing from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian Intelligence to carry out acts of violence against security forces and civilians in Iraq.
"Detains"...oooh, that sounds so scary. 3 hots and a cot, arrow towards mecca, the whole nine yards. They might even bring out the cushy pillow torture on these guys.
Notice the article calls the "insugents" not jihadists, of course. Must have been murderous Baha'i or Jainists.

War starts in Iraq because of pretend WMD's , then we keep finding Iranian soldiers/spies/weapons for real and we do nothing. Not to mention their uranium "peaceful" program. Is it just me or does the whole thing make no sense??
We are winning. The Iraqi people are giving us the intel to stop these agents. The Iraqi funding bill gives us another year of breathing room. That gives us another year to build the Iraqi security forces.

We had a right to remove Saddam and his sons, but we should have wiped out more of the resistance of any kind. Iran has America in it sights, as they have sence 79. Maybe Iraq is a stageing ground for the coming battle with Iran, time is past due to have dealt with the Irainians.

I hope you're right, despite my cynicism, which was absolutely not directed at the troops on the ground. I have no doubt that at the operational level this is very serious, dangerous stuff. Where it breaks down is at the administrative, legislative and executive level. The disconnect between those straspheric levels and the ground-level danger is so great that currying favor with the Islamically-shackled Muslim political class takes precedence, despite the historic futility of such attempts.
