Robert, I agree. I would note though, the similarity of this statement and the Clinton/Lewinsky/ impeachment issue years ago. The left insisted Clinton was being persecuted just for having extramarital sex, something which, according to them, is not a crime, and after all, look at JFK's behavior...yada yada yada....".

That matter was also an honesty issue because the impeachable offense was the perjury Clinton committed for lying about the affair under oath. But the left would have none of it and framed the issue as they deemed fit.

To point this is out will likely result in claims that the declarant is a raving Islamophope and a racist. But as in the Clinton matter, Obama's dishonesty needs to be pointed out, regardless of the left's spinning the issue into what they want it to be.

This might be a good time for one of those "nuanced" responses that the Democrats have promoted with such fervor.

An admission of his father's religion and his own early education might be in order along with a good explanation of his change of direction to Christianity.

Obama is an invented candidate. He’s a product of corrupt Chicago ward politics with an exceedingly thin resume and, while probably slightly above average IQ, he is not that bright. So how is it that this abandoned offspring of a polygamous Muslim father and a left wing xenophilic mother can even be considered for the highest office of the land? We must understand that he did not appear out of nowhere. The policies we have indulged in, and even reveled in, for the last 40 years have laid the ground for the inevitable appearance of an Obama like figure on the presidential stage. Yes, in the early 1960s Blacks were subject to discrimination and oppression. But in spite of that, or perhaps due to the pressure that they were under, the Black family was largely intact and Blacks were generally self-reliant. Then we removed the cork from the bottle, so to speak, but instead of raising them up to the level of Whites we have defined our own culture downward to their level.

There has been a campaign of relentless propaganda pushed by the elites and the intelligentsia. Blacks are always portrayed as the victim in spite of the fact that a far disproportionate amount of violence including inter-racial violence is perpetrated not by Whites, but by Blacks. Thus stories of white violence are manufactured and then trumpeted by the media as truth – e.g. the Duke Rape hoax – and held out as examples of white racism. But real crimes, such as the murder of the two young white coeds in North Carolina are minimized and if reported at all the racial angle is ignored. Then there is the torrent of films churned out by assorted Hollywood hacks and whackos in which villainous or hapless whites are always set straight by heroic selfless “magic Negroes”.

When you combine this with the perpetual vilification of western culture, incessant anti-American propaganda, constant bashing of religious and evangelical Christians (and Mormons), the pushing of the gay agenda even at the public school level and the opening up of our borders to an unprecedented influx of incompatible third world masses, we should not wonder how it is that we have come to this state. A "manchurian candidate" is fancy way to call someone a sleepr agent.

It comes from a novel written in 1959 by Richard Condon, and was adapted into a popular movie in 1962.

Barry Obama is a modern, quasi-"Manchurian Candidate" because of his nebulous ties with the islamic world.

All we have to do is figure out who's pulling the strings, and what the trigger is.

I remember a time when this site actually criticized Obama on national security instead of personal smears, and issued videos of Robert Spencer denouncing this garbage. Oh well. Here are facts: At the same time Obama attended Quran classes, he also attended Catholic School. While he has "Muslim background" in the sense that he was around Muslims while he was growing up, to say that he was ever a practicing Muslim is simply false. By these standards, every Tzefardi Jew is also a Muslim because he or she grew up in the presence of Muslims. So I guess "Operation Red Carpet" was a waste of time after all.

Schlomo Michael, Obama did indeed attend a school run by Catholics in Indonesia, but children of many different religious backgrounds--Christian, Muslim, and HIndu--attended--the regular curriculum was not Christian. It was just a good school. Upper-class Muslims often send their children to Christian-run schools, because the academic standards tend to be higher.

All children in Indonesia in the mid-sixties had to register by religion, and then attend religious classes after school based on their designation. The record keeping was very poor, and the papers were eaten by insects. However, not only do several of Obama's teachers recall his being registered as Muslim--hardly surprising, since both his biological father and Indonesian step-father were Muslim. Apparently Obama's stepfather was not very religious, but he did attend the Mosque occasionally, and sometimes took young "Barry" with him.

Obama himself relates an anecdote in one of his books, where he used to get in trouble in Qu'ran class for making faces.

This last may imply that Obama did not take the classes very seriously, and that is quite possible. There also does not seem much agreement on the content of the classes at the time--how hard-line were they? Indonesia is considered "moderate", and was perhaps even more so at the time. Still, we know that there is some very disturbing material in the Qu'ran, sira, and hadith. We do not know to what extent these passages were emphasized, or glossed over, or perhaps omitted entirely.

Obama himself says that he did not attend a "radical madrassa" in Indonesia, but the statement is worded so as to imply that he did not attend any sort of religious classes. Taken literally, it may just mean that Obama himself did not consider the classes to be "radical".

Yep, Clinton's foreign policy was not fabulous. That's why I supported Obama in the primaries. But the fact is, there has been an unprecedented mushrooming of terrorism since 2000, and even since 2004. Since 2004: Hezbollah slow-motion coup in Lebanon, explosion of sectarian warfare in Iraq, Hamas in Gaza, Iran closer to nukes and infiltrating in Iraq. Since 2000: all this and outbreak of Intifadah, 9/11, Underground bombing, Madrid. For these reasons, I think Obama is best prepared to address these issues.
