A PAKISTANI family who sought asylum in Scotland because they received death threats over their religious beliefs are hoping that a last-minute appeal will stop their deportation tomorrow.
Asad Gull, who worked as a Christian publisher in Pakistan and arrived in the UK with his family nine months ago, lost his asylum case on a court technicality last week. He had not realised he needed to produce a letter from his wife's sister in London.
Then on Thursday, the day after the ruling, when he went to register with the police, he and his whole family were taken to Dungavel Prison without warning.
It meant his five-year-old daughter, Miriam, was taken from her P1 class at school, and his wife, Gull, and other two children, Abishir, two, and Nadab, three, were all put in confinement awaiting deportation on Tuesday.
His solicitor has since received a letter from his wife's sister and it is hoped a legal challenge will see the family's case reopened. Supporters believe if the appeal fails then they are returning to Pakistan and near certain death.
The family have been living in Pollok in Glasgow since they arrived in the UK and have been active members of two churches – the Christian Asian Fellowship and Carnwadrick Church of Scotland parish.
They are being supported by Rev Graeme Bell of Carnwadrick who said he was optimistic that the court would at least reopen the case.
"This is a desperate situation," he told The Scotsman. "We are literally talking about people's lives here.
In Pakistan if somebody converts from Islam to Christianity then they have broken the law and legally they can be put to death."

Then the Home Office is an ass. Individual cases are what count. It is the threatened individual who should count. No Muslims can claim to be refugees, not from Muslim countries, and certainly not from non-Muslim countries where they are treated with such solicitousness. It is only non-Muslims who can conceivably be refugees, either from Muslim countries, or from what were non-Muslim countries but, as in The Netherlands, have become for some outspoken non-Muslims, dangerous because of threats from a swaggering and aggressive and dangerous Muslim minority.
Unfortunately these people don't automatically qualify for asylum because they are Christians. Can't deport an al Qaeda butcher because he might not get a fair trial in his islamic paradise, but it's fine to deport an entire Christian family back to the darkest hole on the planet, Pakistan, where they will all be murdered after they are tortured and raped. I thought we had the most insane, left-wing judiciary in the world but maybe not.
The U.K. wants only muslim immigrants, the more the merrier. They're the main players in the master plan to eradicate what's left of native culture so Mr. Brown and his E.U. and American pals can move on with the Brave New World. Apparently in Scotland, as in the EU and US, Christians and whites are not a "protected minority." How did we get here? Western leaders seem all to be positioning for a place in a new global World Order. Many other world leaders are in the game. Nations, individuals, individualism, ideas and ideals are passe. Internationalism is in, along with control by elites, with, of course, some conflict and maneuvering at the top to lead a dependant mish-mash of minorities. Hey, with easy travel and opportunities it is already apparent there will soon be a Chinatown in Cairo. There you have it. That's all there is.

Both of them know all about death threats from Muslims.
Bishop Michael is the son of a Muslim couple who converted to Christianity in Pakistan, many years ago; he was raised a Christian, and was ordained priest in Pakistan, before moving to the UK after things got a bit too hot for him (but talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire...he's been getting death threats in the UK same as he used to get in Pakistan).
Bishop Patrick converted from Islam to Christianity at a UK University in the 1960s. I'm not sure how he's managed to avoid being 'offed' by his former co-religionists. He has had things to say about the murderous Muslim harassment of those who, within Britain, have converted from Islam to Christianity. His Barnabas Fund, set up to support persecuted Christians (mostly within the Islamosphere) has increasingly found itself called upon to support formerly-Muslim Christians suffering persecution...within Britain!
Patrick Sookhdeo is a canon, not a bishop.
I am going to take a wild guess, and suggest that the Home Office civil servant handling their file is a Muslim.
Sadly, I think that is more likely to be true than that we will see Gordon Brown wade into the fight on behalf of this family, The Glasgow Five, as he did for The Guantanamo Five.

If the "authorities" send these Christians to their certain death at the hands of moslems, then these "authorities" will be rewarded in kind. We have to trust in Truth. Truth says, "Justice is Mine".
