SRINAGAR, Kashmir (AP) — Tens of thousands of Muslim demonstrators filled the streets in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Friday, burning flags and effigies of Indian leaders on a fifth day of protests against the transfer of land to a Hindu shrine.Protesters clashed with riot police officers in several parts of Srinagar, the main city in the region, which has a Muslim majority. The police responded with tear gas, said Prabhakar Tripathi, a spokesman for the Central Reserve Police Force.
Three people have died and dozens of others, including at least 22 police officers, have been wounded since Monday, as the police have struggled to control angry mobs protesting the transfer of 99 acres of land by the state government to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, a trust running the popular Hindu shrine.
Protesters accuse the Indian government of planning to build Hindu settlements in India’s only Muslim-majority state in an effort to change the demographic balance in the region....

If they don't want to live among the Hindu's in India, why don't they just move to Pakistan. Maybe because they are part of the ongoing effort to change the demographic balance in India?
Those of us with a western mindset are able to quickly see the hypocracy in Musselmen protesting the introduction of more of those of a different religious persuasion into their midst, while they routinely impinge themselves on others in the west.
But the mindset of the Mahometan trained in the dualistic paradigms of that ideology is unable to understand the snorting that such protests as those in Kashmir might unleash among others not inculcated into mahmodenism.
Do not delude yourselves into thinking that this is some localized problem, the same sort of anger that tends to murder would occur if majority Mahometen areas in London, New York or Paris were to see an influx of immigration from those not Mahomten.

[The first question…and this is really the elephant in the room, is, “How many “Hindus” would it take to change the demography of Kashmir?
It is important to consider this question as this is what seems to upset most Kashmiris. To wit:

Let us look at some numbers.
According to 2001 Census of India, the population of Jammu and Kashmir was just over 10m of which 6.8m (66.97%) were Muslims; Hindus were just over 3m (29.63%) - note that the % Muslim population has increased since the last census in 1981 and the proportion of Hindus has decreased (at least partly due to migration); According to the 1981 census, Muslims accounted for 64.19% and Hindus were at 32.24%.
However, this distribution hides the skewed demographics in the “Valley”. In Kashmir (Valley), the proportion of Muslims is generally accepted to be ~ 95% (e.g. see here), possibly more.
The 1981 census put the Pandits’ number (in the Valley) at a little over 124,000 in a total population of 3.1 million (It should be noted that between 1941 and 1981, the Pandit population declined from 15% to just under 5% while the Muslim population grew from 83% to 95%. The Hindu population in the Valley today is certainly lower than the 1981 number while the Muslim population has grown. According to this report, “…of the estimated 200,000 Hindus, known as Pandits, who lived in the Kashmir Valley…only some 10,000 remain.” ]

The Hindus never invited the Muslims into Kashmir in the first place. As the ancient inhabitants of that area and being an integral part of India the Hindus have every right to build a shrine there and that the land transfered is justified.

The UN has no jurisdiction in the internal matters of India. This is not a matter of self rule because Kashmir is a part of integral India if the Muslims do not like they can cross the border into Pakistan and ask for self rule over there. Asif1986 you can speak to the Bangladeshi the UMMAH to take the Muslims into Mecca or Medina. I doubt the scumbags of Pakistan will give a damn about the rights of non Muslims in their country as a matter of fact most of them are killed of by the barbarians that is spewed by Islam. You mentioned that UN has no jurisdiction in the internall affairs of india, but it was india in 1948 which took the kashmir case to the UN in the first place so they should respect the resolutions.
Bangladesh is not an islamic country it is peoples republic and it was founded on linguistic and cultural nationalism in 1971 with indian help.

Bangladesh may have been founded as a new nation in 1971, but its original roots lie in Islamic separatism via the 1947 Partition which set apart Bangladesh as an Islamic country under partition. On paper, it is a secular republic, in real life, Hindus are second class citizens, denied jobs, denied healthcare, denied places of worship, etc.

Glad to see the article. Though many of the comments made by seemingly moderate Muslims are quoted, they are very much thinly veiled. Perhaps we should ask the few Hindu Kashmiris left what they think?

I could not have said it better, Richard. Muslims always want to have their cake and eat it too. The original subcontinent of India was partitioned in 1947 because the Muslims claimed (correctly, in my view) that they cannot co-exist with Hindus. So, they got their Islamic Pakistan. Yet, in a fine example of duplicity, millions of Muslims remained in India to create problems forever. Muslims claiming persecution anywhere holds no water because they are the biggest persecutors, as seen from this latest example in Kashmir.
Muslims like Asif keep talking of self-determination in Kashmir. I fully support self-determination but only under the original UN terms and conditions: maintaining status quo on population mix and geography of Kashmir. In Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the non-Muslim population has been completely driven out (surprised?) and Pakistan has generously ceded Kashmiri land to China. Bring back the status quo and have a self-determination vote by all means. If they can't do that, the likes of Asif should shut up.
Bangladesh may have started off as a secular country in the wake of the Indian support that they got, without which they'd probably still be today the fifth province of Pakistan. However, 5 years down, when their founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated, they became an Islamic country and joined the OIC.
Fast forward to today, and Bangladesh - not Pakistan - is the leading source of non-domestic Jihad in India. Almost all the recent jihadi attacks in India - Jaipur, Mumbai, Faizabad, Hyderabad, et al - have been attacks traced back to Bangladeshi migrants or plotted within Bangladesh. Like I said in another thread, I'm just waiting for the Jihad to hit Left Bengal - watching Marxists and Mohammedans slaughter each other will be like watching an Alien vs Predator movie.
