A man with sickening views
What the Daily Mail here describes as "sickening views" is simply Qur'anic Islam: "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies..." Qur'an 8:60).

Suspected Al Qaeda leader Abu Qatada is celebrating his release from prison with the release of a book in which he urges Muslims to commit terrorist attacks in the West.In the 71-page tract, published in English translation on the internet, he repeatedly claims that fighting jihad, holy war, is obligatory for all Muslims and urges them to 'terrorise' non-believers.
Security sources say his clear incitement to violence makes a mockery of the decision to set him free.

The preacher of hate, who has been described as Osama Bin Laden's right-hand man in Europe, was released on bail from Long Lartin prison in Worcestershire on Tuesday after the blocking of his deportation to Jordan, where he is wanted on terror charges.A judge ruled there were no grounds to keep him in jail, but the Special Immigration Appeals Commission imposed unprecedented conditions on his release, including a stipulation that he observe a 22-hour curfew and wear an electronic tag.
He will be under round-the-clock surveillance in a MI5 safehouse and is specifically banned from contacting Bin Laden.
Counter-terrorism officials believe that Qatada, 47, remains a grave threat to national security and will be furious to learn he has yet again flouted the law by publishing his sickening views as he is set free....
What did they think was gonna happen? That he was going to take up gardening and drinking tea? Once "Bin Laden's right-hand man" always "Bin Laden's right-hand man".
They make it sound like this guy knows how to contact Bin Laden. Maybe they should let him, so we can find him...

I just couldn't stop laughing when I read that--even though very little about this is actually funny.
In a previous post it was made clear that the round-the-clock surveillance serves to protect Qatada from possible "backlash" from members of the British public, rather than protect the British public from Qatada. This, despite his calls for Muslims to terrorize the non-believers and commit acts of violence against them at all opportunities.

I think your on to something. Although I don't buy evolution as is currently taught. I believe we have found an example of something going in the reverse direction. He looks like he is capable of climbing trees or will soon be.
No offense to our primate friends but Islam could be a teaching that supports reverse evolution. 1600 years and counting. Yup! everything is right on schedule. If after thousands of years it would be interesting to see what it has devolved too. I would say that "Planet of the apes" would be a close example but not with innocent and beautiful humans. No, No this mug would be the average specimen.

As for his face...he can't help the basic features he was born with, nose, eyes, chin, mouth, cheekbones, but he's responsible for what he's doing with them. What he's expressing is pure spiritual ugliness. This photo is giving us Qatada's riff on what Hugh, quoting Shelley's Ozymandias, calls the "sneer of cold command".

On a more serious note, maybe 'witness' is on the right track. Maybe what we're looking at is something inhuman.
M Scott Peck, a clinical psychologist, in his book 'People of the Lie', describes what it was like to take part in two events that he describes as 'exorcisms' (which he likened to 'psychotherapy by massive assault'). After a process which he called 'the final stripping away of the Pretence' he describes a moment when 'the secondary personality took on inhuman features, and the Pretence was broken'. And as a hardheaded psychologist, what he found most disturbing was this:
"When the demonic finally spoke clearly in one case, an expression appeared on the patient's face that could be described only as Satanic. It was an incredibly contemptuous grin of utter hostile malevolence." {Sound familiar, people?}
Peck remarks, 'I have spent many hours before a mirror trying to imitate it without the slightest success. I have seen that expression only one other time in my life - for a few fleeting seconds on the face of the other patient, late in the evaluation period.
"Yet {says Peck} when the demonic finally revealed itself in the exorcism of the other patient, it was with a still more ghastly expression. The patient suddenly resembled a writhing snake of great strength, viciously attempting to bite the team members. More frightening than the writhing body, however, were the eyes. Peck also has this to say:

"When asked in one exorcism why it was the Antichrist, it answered, 'because Christ taught people to love each other'. When further questioned as to why human love was so distasteful, it replied, 'I want people to work in business so that there will be war.' Queried more, it simply said to the exorcist, 'I want to kill you.' There was absolutely nothing creative or constructive about it. It was purely destructive."
Now that was in an exchange where the person inhabited by this 'presence' had in fact become dimly aware of its malevolence, wanted to be rid of it at all costs, and in the end, with the help of the team and (in Peck's assessment) divine intervention, did indeed get rid of it.
Qatada, far from wanting to be rid of the meme, or demon, or whatever it is that is producing that ghastly stare and sneer, presumably thinks he's just fine. After all he's imitating that 'perfect man', Mohammed, that 'excellent example of conduct'.
But that imitatio Mohammedi is turning him into what C S Lewis in 'Voyage to Venus' called 'the Unman'.
Mr Spencer: I don't suppose, next time you post a mugshot like this, you could pair it with something else to take the awful taste away? Say, one of Rembrandt's portraits, or a nice photo of Mother Teresa or Martin Luther King or Dietrich Bonhoeffer or Corrie Ten Boom, just for purposes of comparison?

As for "flouting" his views, I'm sure he sees nothing wrong with expounding qur'anic doctrine. Sooner or later, this issue is bound to end up in the courts. How will a judge handle a religious discrimination countersuit after a muslim is arrested for inciting hate or violence when the muslim's defense is the qur'an? If the muslim has an expert witness, an imam, to testify that his words came from the qur'an, the immutable word of allah, any form of punishment would violate the Constitution's guarantee of religious freedom.
AFter the Supreme Court's recent unbelievable ruling on terrorists and the undeniable incompatibility of islam with the Constitution, it appears that the Constitution may well be a suicide pact, at least the way it is interpreted by the morons in charge.

I didn't know till now that Perelandra was once titled Voyage to Venus.
I don't know how much should be made of Joel Richardson's book, Anti-Christ: Islam´s Awaited Messiah, but I found it utterly fascinating. Richardson finds many curious parallels between Christian and Islamic eschatology. I´ll name just three parallels, but he finds a couple of dozen.
1. He compares the Mahdi (a sort of end times Messiah for both Sunni and Shia, though Sunni and Shia have slightly varying views) with the Christian anti-Christ, and finds they are remarkably similar in what they are prophesied by Bible and Quran to do. Robinson even cites some Muslim clerics who have recognized, in the Bible's description of the anti-Christ, the Muslim Mahdi/Messiah.
2. Robinson compares the Muslim Jesus who is supposed to return at the end of history with the False Prophet that Christian eschatology describes. Robinson finds them strikingly similar in what they are supposed to do.
3. He compares the Muslim Dajjal (a Muslim anti-Christ) with the Christians' Jesus Christ, and finds that they are supposed to do similar things at the end of time.

When will enough be enough? I just read that Venezuela has threatened Europe with stopping oil shipments if they toughen their immigration laws. It is getting close to the 11th hour. Elite lawmakers and the liberal media are empowering the jihadis by weakening our defenses in every way they can. How much longer will we have to read stories like these? The jihad can be pushed back with simple resolve to DO something. They are very weak compared to the West. What insanity has gripped us and frozen us so that these beasts can issue DEATH THREATS within their host countries?
