Barak: Israel will act to protect itself

Will Israel strike Iran before President Obama has a chance to sit down and talk things over man-to-man with the Thug-In-Chief? Maybe. But probably not: "the reactions of enemies ... need to be taken into consideration as well."

"Barak hints at Israel's readiness to strike Iran," by Amy Tiebel for Associated Press, July 10 (thanks to James):

JERUSALEM - Israel's defense minister hinted Thursday that Israel was ready to attack Iran's nuclear program, saying it didn't balk before "when its vital security interests" were at stake.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak's allusion to Israel's 1981 airstrike on an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor came at a time of intensified tensions between Israel and its archenemy, Iran.

Tehran launched war games and tests of a long-range missile this week after saying Tel Aviv would be "set on fire" if Israel were to attack Iran.

"Israel is the strongest country in the region and has proved in the past that it doesn't hesitate to act when its vital security interests are at stake," Barak told a meeting of his Labor Party.

But he quickly tempered his remarks, noting that "the reactions of enemies ... need to be taken into consideration as well."...

The sunni Sowdi are probably hoping Israel puts an end to the shites leadership of iran.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak's allusion to Israel's 1981 airstrike on an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor came at a time of intensified tensions between Israel and its archenemy, Iran.

Just three years earlier, Israel and Iran were fast friends or, at least, allies. The Israeli airstrike also came in the first year of Iran's own war with Iraq. Seems like Ayatollah Khomeini had "intensified tensions" with a lot of people.

Totally bogus. Iran would launch an attack today if it was capable of it. It continually threatens to do so.

Just a bunch of empty words by Achmi"scumbag"jad.

Barak should remember the man after whom he is named.

See Judges 4:4 -end and chapter 5.

The House of Israel currently has two 'Deborahs' that I can think of - Bat Yeor and Caroline Glick.

It just needs a Barak willing to listen to good advice.
