Well, as has been noted many times on this site, it's good to laugh at and mock islam. Surely Cameron was joking?
We better hope Cameron and the Conservatives triumph in the up-coming elections. There are degrees of dhimmitude.

Right idea, wrong target. Even if a thief loses a hand, he can just as easily steer with his other hand - only the brake might be a problem (depending on which side controls the rear brake). But cut off his right foot, and that will render him ineffective as a cyclist.
Given the number of people who've already signed on to Shariah, not to mention the number of Mohammedans already dominating several parts of the Ummah Kalifate, why should Cameron be left out of the action? As it is, there are honor killings, forced conversion of Infidel girls, et al, so why not throw this into the mix as well?
Just leave out the Islam part and I would support that. Bike thieves are vermin.
Oddly, Cameron appears not to have been the first one to have made this knee-slapping joke. Apparently it's been circulating for awhile. It doesn't even seem to be the first time he himself has referred to this:

I never thought I'd be able to say that Conservatism was cool, but try as I have, I simply cannot fault Boris Johnson on an election pledge published in The Guardian (March 18): "When (ahem if?) Also, if he was joking, I didn't read Cameron's statement as dhimmitude at all. He was possibly illustrating the absurdity of those who are advocating shariah law in UK by suggesting the most outrageous version of it in this case, combining it with his personal setback.
But if he wasn't, that's another thing altogether.
In the US in areas reporting high numbers of bike thefts, the old police bicycle sting works great...put an expensive bike out, have the police watch it, then arrest every dumbass that steals it...sometimes the same bike gets stolen 20 times in one night..it is hilarious to watch these losers get arrested.
Always lock your bike up even if leaving it for a few seconds.
Remember: there are low-lifes everywhere and because they're on benefits paid for by people who work, they themselves don't have to work so have plenty of time to supplement their already ample hand-outs by stealing bikes and selling them on.
Anyone who thinks the Tories will be any less dhimmified than New Labour are deluding themselves. The two parties are indistinguishable.
One has rich MPs with several properties each who have no idea what it is like to live in the real world, and the other is the Conservative Party.

Today it is a joke and in the near future (during our life), Sharia will be a reality in the UK as the Brits keep bending backwards to accommodate Islam. At his point, Islamization of the UK is irreversible
I have no problem with cutting off an incorrigible thieve's hand as long as it has nothing to do with Sharia. Where I live (in a Southern US state) the law says you can legally kill a thief in your house or if you catch him in the act. My neighbor shot a burglar last year as he was climbing in the window. The police praised him for being a good shot.
If the UK was more like Louisiana or Alabama and didn't have silly gun control laws, then Cameron could have shot the theif as he rode away on the stolen bike. Cameron would have his bike back and with the thieving creep dead, Britian would have one less burden on British society.

Hmm I happened to catch something along these lines when I accidentally caught 5 minutes of the God Channel the other night. It was quite disturbing.
How exactly are the Brits bending backwards to accommodate Islam? Our soldiers fight side by side with yours on the front line in Afghanistan and Iraq. Our over-stretched intelligence services work flat out to combat terrorism and extremism. I have friends and colleagues that are Islamic - is that a problem for you?
One high-court judge mentioned that it might be practical to introduce Sharia Law for small cases involving Muslims where ordinarily a magistrate would get involved. Not something I'd be in favour of, since in my opinion when you live in a country you abide by their laws and their system of justice, but I also don't think it would be the end of the world.
I am proud to live in a country where we really don't care what peoples' religious beliefs are, people are (generally) judged on their actions and behaviour not on the colour of their skin or faith. Extremists around the world would love it if that changed and we started banning mosques and deporting Muslims, since that would play right into their hands. It would turn us into the demons that they would like to portray us as.
As far as I'm concerned the very worst thing that could happen to Britain as a result of terrorism is that we would become less tolerant, more suspicious of eachother, and more closed minded. Because then we're becoming just like them, which is exactly what they want.
Given the epidemic of bicycle theft in Toronto (most locked) I'm almost ready to endorse that proposal. I expect I would settle for a good public horsewhipping or caning.

Typical politicians’, completely out of touch with reality. The “normal” standard have been for at least two decade that you have a lock device that weight at least as much or more as the bicycle and secure the bike to some solid stationary object that is firmly attached to the ground. And that is when you leave the bike for shorter period’s daytime in public places.
Bicycle thieves’ should of course lose at least a foot preferably both. Not necessary to over do it as the Nigerian Muslims and chop of the entire leg even if they or on the righteous path. Allah knows best.
