Canada: Jihadist wrote of waging violent jihad against Western economies

Now that's some interior spiritual struggle. "Disputed emails about economic jihad allowed at terrorism trial: judge," from the Canadian Press, July 14:

OTTAWA — An email message in which Momin Khawaja wrote of the need to wage violent jihad against western economies will be part of the evidence at his terrorism trial.

Justice Douglas Rutherford rejected arguments from counsel for the former Ottawa software designer that messages he sent to his one-time fiancee were irrelevant and prejudicial to the case.

Khawaja faces seven charges including financing and facilitating terrorism, including the key allegation he built a remote-control device for use in bomb attacks planned - but never executed - by Islamic extremists in Britain.

Five of his alleged co-conspirators were convicted by a London jury and sentenced last year to life in prison.

Rutherford called the accusations involving Khawaja sinister and chilling - so much so that admitting the email messages into evidence would not likely have much impact on his assessment of the facts.

He also ruled that at least some videos depicting jihadi activities that Khawaja gave to an Ottawa-area woman could become part of the court record, but indicated the Crown must show how excerpts of the DVDs are relevant to the case....

At this rate Islam and Muslims will soon be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. It is after all the religion of peace even our President, spiritual leaders, the UN, European leaders, Indian Leaders all say it is. The only thing left is Prestigious award to recognize the contributions Islam has made to Humanity. The peace it has brought has led millions out of poverty and despair. It has brought an enlightenment in Human societies throughout the Globe a renaissance of sorts through the Arts, Science and Social Sciences.

Deport the SOB!

"..he built a remote-control device for use in bomb attacks planned."

From the Globe & Mail:

"Mohammed Junaid Babar, a 33-year-old, Brooklyn-raised convicted terrorist, made a surprise appearance as the first-day witness in the trial against Canadian terrorism suspect Mohammed Momin Khawaja."

"Recounting his strange radicalization Mr. Babar, a university dropout and former security guard, described how he was increasingly drawn to joining an armed jihad by the time 9/11 occurred."

"He also allegedly constructed a detonation device he called the “high-fi Digimonster” which was seized from his Ottawa home in 2004."

Jihadist wrote of waging violent jihad against Western economies
.................................

Against "Western *economies*"--now that's some odd phrasing. I don't suppose that meant he was going to organize a boycott against Marks and Spencer, or picket Indigo Books, or refuse to eat poutine?

No it sounds as though Khawaja was going with the tried and true jihadist strategy of blowing sh*t up. Striking terror in the hearts of Infidels is job one--any damage to their economies is just a bonus.

How wonderfully loyal these Muslims are, apart from being such peaceful people. They practice paintball shootings, build electronic hobby toys and the Canadians charge them with terrorism? Must be a conspiracy against Islam. All they want to do is to dominate the world and show everyone the true God. How dare you Canadians stand in their way?

This is what enemies do. Or should we believe that the Nazis during WWII would never have done such a thing.

Oh but I forgot, Islam is a peaceful Relgion. They are not anyones enemy.

Really? He wrote that? Well then, the only thing to do in that case is to put Khawaja in charge of the Central Bank!

Observe. The editor of Canadian Press used the J-word in a headline, without scare quotes - "Disputed emails about economic jihad allowed at terrorism trial: judge."

This is important. It allows the phrase 'economic jihad' to enter the mind of the public. As used here, of course, it seems to mean that the accused intended to make physical attacks on buildings and personnel of financial institutions, rather than to conduct the less obvious and more insidious 'money jihad' that involves bribes and the paying-off of quislings, collaborators and traitors.

Nevertheless, if you are Canadian, this headline gives you a perfect opening to start explaining to people about 'jihad of the purse' or 'money jihad', that our Mr Fitzgerald has so frequently discussed.

Here's a look Khawaja's life while in a Canadian prison:

"What life's like for Momin Khawaja on the inside
Gary Dimmock, The Ottawa Citizen
Published: Monday, July 07, 2008
The last time there was a bloody swarming at the Innes Road jail, it seemed like Momin Khawaja was the only inmate who stayed clear of the one-sided attack.
Known as a model inmate for the past four years, Mr. Khawaja's life has been far removed from the public eye.
Every day starts the same way, with breakfast inside his cell, sometimes shared with another inmate. They call his special menu "The Khawaja Diet" because it has less salt than a regular Halal meal that other Muslims order seven days a week when they're not fasting.
Then it's out on the range, where he sometimes leads prayer by the showers, quite close to the same place he jogs on the spot.
He shaved off his thick beard a while ago, and now uses gel and keeps his hair in braids.
He'd likely know the latest on inner-city music, what with reading hip-hop magazines in his tidy cell, arguably the cleanest in the whole jail. You could bounce a quarter off his tightly-made bed. There's no dust on the floor, where a painted arrow points to Mecca so he can pray on his mats. He keeps his clothes neat and laid out for the next day. He also keeps up on men's fashion and culture by reading GQ magazine.
Khawaja....keeps to himself and has earned a reputation as an upstanding inmate, one who has never actually been convicted of any crime. Even the guns police found in his bedroom were registered.
He doesn't complain unless he has a medical problem, which has sometimes had something to do with his diet, but that's all been sorted out for now.
His most prized possession is the Koran, the Muslim book of guidance. Almost every other inmate asks for a Bible in their first week inside, and its thin pages make for great rolling papers.
There's not a single page missing from Momin Khawaja's Koran."

Model inmate. Model muslim. Model terrorist.

Ermmm why do you think the oil prices are so high? Do you really think it is demand and supply?

...and don't forget with the Global warming there should be less demand for oil, right? Why are prices so high?

ImNoDhimmi wrote, citing the Ottawa Citizen:

Wow--he's neat and tidy, and yet so hip, keeping up with fashion and popular music! What a great guy--if only it wasn't for those disquieting bomb plots . . . but "he shaved off his thick beard a while ago, and now uses gel and keeps his hair in braids"--so how radical can he really be?

Bad Christians! None of them are sincere--all they want to do is smoke doobies! Well--I don't think you have to be soft on drugs to prefer that Khawaja was using pages from "The Cow" to light up, rather than taking them to heart.

After all, taking the Koran to heart is what landed Khawja in prison in the first place, a small fact that seems to have escaped Gary Dimmock entirely.
