BEIRUT, Lebanon - Five militants freed in a prisoner swap with Israel prayed and laid wreaths at the grave of a slain Hezbollah commander Thursday, vowing to fight Israel as supporters showered them with rice.
Eight tractor-trailers loaded with coffins carrying the remains of 199 Lebanese and Palestinian fighters returned by Israel in the swap made their way from south Lebanon to the capital Beirut. Villagers showered rice and rose petals on the coffins wrapped in Lebanese and Hezbollah flags and covered with flowers. A banner on one of the red and yellow trucks read, "The Martyrs of Victory."
The vehicles were stopped often along the route by throngs of supporters, some of them women relatives in black headscarves and clothing who held up pictures of those killed in fighting with Israel over the past three decades.
In Beirut, the five freed prisoners dressed in military fatigues walked a red carpet laid out for them to the grave of Imad Mughniyeh, a shadowy figure Israel and the West accused of masterminding terrorist bombings in the 1980s and 1990s. He was killed in a car bomb in neighboring Syria in February which Hezbollah blamed on Israel. Israel denied it.
"We swear by God ... to continue on your same path and not to retreat until we achieve the same stature that God bestowed on you," said Samir Kantar, who had been the longest-held Lebanese prisoner in Israel.
He referred to Mughniyeh's "martyrdom," saying, "This is our great wish. We envy you and we will achieve it, God willing." [...]
Later in the day, hundreds of people welcomed Kantar in his hometown of Abey, a mountain hamlet 10 miles south of Beirut.
"This time yesterday, I was in the hands of the enemy. But at this moment, I am yearning more than before to confront them," Kantar said.
There is no point in desecrating Israeli Soil with the likes of them.
Before these five kill any Israelis, the Israeli Goverment and Media should go on record to list all of the names, positions and goverments that pushed/forced these negotiations to release these five on Israel.
Give the world the names and goverments and shine the light on them when they kill more Israelis.

This had to the most pointless and cowardly exchange of prisoners ever. If it was me running Isreal I would ahve sen tback 5 coffins in exchange for the 2 dead( murdered) soldiers. Why is Kantar "an icon"? For the 1979 murder of an Israeli police officer, a civilian, and that civilian's little four-year-old daughter. First, he shot the little girl's dad dead right in front of her, and then bashed her head in with a rifle butt.
The little girl's mother had heard the attack, and fled with their other child to the attic. While trying to keep the baby from crying, and attracting the murderous attention of Kantar, she accidently smothered her baby girl. I can't even begin to imagine this poor woman's grief.
*This* is the Arab world's ideal.

Well, I wish I could argue with that, but I can't.
And what did Israel get in this "prisoner swap"? The bodies of two of its murdered soldiers. Even calling it a "prisoner swap" gives Hezbollah an unearned status as a legitimate state actor, which is recognized as having "prisoners", rather than calling them what they are--kidnap victims.
Even more telling are the accompanying photos (I tried to find links, but have had no luck).
In the first, Samir Kantar, looking over-fed and sporting a Hitlerian mustache, is dressed in camoflage fatigues and pumping his fist in the air. He is in the middle of a dense crowd of smiling and cheering supporters.
The second photo could not be more different--Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert gives Ehud Goldwasser's teary widow, Karnit, a hug as they both touch the casket. Mourners are milling around behind them.
The first picture is brutal and triumphalist. The second is much more human and sympathetic, but looks--sadly--undeniably weak.
A well placed air strike would have wiped out a lot of these bastards. But with Olmert running things it probably didn't occur to anyone. No doubt Israel will be meeting these fine folk again in the future as a result.

I must say that I totally shocked my poor husband when, after reading out to him the account of what Dalal Mughrabi [one of the *dead* terrorists whose remains were returned] did, I stated that I thought the Israelis should have booby-trapped her coffin, waited (observing by various means, long distance) until it was surrounded with known jihadists and their enablers, and then tripped the switch.
For me, I must say that this whole episode has been a decider.
Now that conscienceless and viciously cruel mass-murderers, Samir Kuntar and Dalal Mughrabi have been deliriously adulated and hailed by the general Lebanese and 'Palestinian' Arab Muslim populace as heroes, as icons, as the ideal man and woman, as [Kuntar] 'the conscience (!!!) of Lebanon, Palestine and the whole Arab nation', then - whatever happens to them in any upcoming war, happens, and I hope it happens HARD.

What about the Israeli soldiers who have fought these animals in just the last ten years? Did they fight for nothing?
The desire to bring every Israeli home for burial is an honorable one but it's not always possible.
Did the families of those whose remains came home watch the reception given to those killers in Beirut and still think this was an honorable thing to do?
As one who has never worn the uniform, I can't say. However, in past wars not everyone came home, not even in a body bag. Is it realistic for the Israelis to put the need to bury their war dead in Israel over the need to secure their nation for the living? A choice has to be made.
Future swaps, if they have to be made, should be in kind: dead for dead, living for living.
Olmert would pardon Bin Laden for a few bottles of champaigne and some caviar.
