Nine Iranians to be stoned to death for adultery

While Islamic apologists in the West continue to claim that Islam forbids stoning, the records from countries that implement Islamic law in this particular show otherwise. "Activists: 9 Iranians Convicted of Adultery Set to Be Stoned to Death," from AP, July 20 (thanks to all who sent this in):

TEHRAN, Iran — Eight women and one man convicted of adultery are set to be stoned to death in Iran, activists said Sunday.

Lawyer and women's rights activist, Shadi Sadr, said the nine were convicted of adultery in separate cases in different Iranian cities.

"Their verdicts are approved, and they may be executed at any time," she told reporters.

Sadr, who has been leading a campaign in Iran against stoning deaths since 2006, said trial protocol was not applied properly in the cases. Six of the nine were convicted based solely on judges' decisions with no witnesses or the presence of their lawyers during their confessions, she said. [...]

Under Iran's Islamic laws, adultery in the only capital offense punishable by stoning. Other capital offenses in Iran include murder, rape, armed robbery, apostasy, blasphemy, drug trafficking, prostitution, treason and espionage.

The punishment is also applied in some other countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Sudan and Nigeria.

A man is usually buried up to his waist, while a woman is buried up to her neck. Those carrying out the verdict then throw stones until the condemned dies.

Stoning was widely imposed in the early years after Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution that toppled the pro-Western Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and brought hard-line clerics to power. But in recent years, it has seldom been applied, though the government rarely confirms when it carries out stoning sentences. The last stoning death confirmed by the government was in July 2007.

In the recent years, reformist legislators demanded an end to death by stoning as a punishment for adultery, but opposition from hard-line clerics sidelined their efforts.

Along with adultery, other capital offenses in Iran include murder, rape, armed robbery, apostasy, blasphemy, drug trafficking, prostitution, treason and espionage.

Freaking savages!! And that Bandar al-Bush wants to re-established limited diplomatic relations with these animals?

And that Obama would like to "talk" to them like equals?

Oh, please someone lend me their Pepto-bismol.

I have never heard that Islam forbids stoning. Tariq Ramadan had a hide to call a 'moratorium' on stoning while in a TV-discussion with Sarkozy, to which Sarkozy answered something like 'never'.

The Bunglawussi refers to stoning as 'ancient, historical' ruling, which made him look even more ridiculous than he already is.

But no, while they lie and deny just about everything, when it comes to sharia they are surprisingly frank...

Now, tell me one more time, where is Amnesty International? The National Organization for Women? The International Red Cross? The Catholic Church? The Presbyterian Church? The Baptist Church? Trinity? The Assemblies of God?

Don't know?

Alrighty, then, how about where's the voice of "moderate Islam"?

Don't know that one either?

Okay. How about Gordon Brown? George Bush? Richard Armitage? Joseph Wilson? Valerie? Bob Novak? The New York Times? The Washington Post? The L.A. Times?

No?

Where's CBS? NBC? ABC? CNN? MSNBC? Daily Kos?

Gosh.

How about Barak Hussein Obama? Oh, that's right, Iran is not a great threat to anyone. Our Saviour of hope and change will n-e-g-o-t-i-a-t-e with Iran. Maybe he can n-e-g-o-t-i-a-t-e for the lives of these poor souls. I'm sure the Koran allows for negotiating with a genuine Saviour. I'm certain that Ahmadinejad will pass out in the Great Obama's presence and commute the sentences right after his aides revive him. O, Blessed Obama.

How about you, France? Belgium? Germany? Austria? The Netherlands? Oh, that's right, you've got your own hands full of Sharia, too. I forgot. You Europeans have some very important work to do right now, prosecuting the few elected reps who've had the courage to try to stop your Islamization problems. Sorry to interrupt you here. Don't pay any attention.

Well, then, how about CAIR? Now, that's a voice of moderate Islam, right? Surely they'll speak up. No? What's that? Oh, they're busy fighting that nasty, racist, free speech Islamophobia problem here in the U.S.A. Maybe after that's taken care of we'll hear from them, condemning these stonings. Yes. Of course.

Canada! Surely we'll hear some helpful words from our neighbor to the north to help these poor condemned sinners. What? Oh, I forgot, they're still mired down in that nasty Mark Steyn business - what a naughty boy he is! Well, then, after Mr. Steyn is dealt with, then we can expect some discourse from Canada on behalf of these wretched victims of Muslim law.

I feel much better now.

On to important business. Wonder who's on O'Reilly's pop culture quiz segment this week. Anyone know if Lindsey Lohan's out of rehab yet?

I wanted to share with you all a conversation I had with my Dad earlier today.

I want to preface things by saying that my Pop is a moderate/conservative with whom I agree on most issues of the day. He is intelligent, articulate, very well-informed, and certainly no admirer of Islam....(he's also a great guy whom I love dearly).

We were talking about England's inexorable slide towards Sharia. He took the position - eminently reasonable in his mind - that it's perfectly natural for people to want to live under their own value-system and that therefore, he was not opposed to the institution of Sharia to govern the lives of Muslims in England or even America for that matter.

I was shocked and immediately asked him: "So you're prepared to accept the stoning of adulteresses, the amputation of limbs, and the killing of apostates."

He responded by insisting these were not facets of Sharia, which was - in his mind - a belief system based on the values and ethics of Muslims. Only after explaining to him that Sharia was not just a belief system but an entire legal code that included stonings, amputations, and the killing of apostates, did he do an about-face and agree that it would be entirely unacceptable.

MORAL: Even those who are well-informed on most issues are often appallingly ignorant on Islam. Don't assume. Keep hammering away. Pop now has a new appreciation of the menace posed by Sharia.

Cornelius - that's terrific news.

Think about it. Want to bet your Pop will be passing on his new-found knowledge to others?

The luridly shocking aspects of sharia - its permission of forced marriage and prepubescent marriage and marital rape and polygyny and wife-beating, its insane and unjust nullification of women's evidence in court in a rape case, precisely where it is most likely that the woman (or, perhaps, too, another woman or women) will be the only witness apart from the male perp), its prescriptions of stoning for adultery, amputation of hands for theft, the devaluing of women's testimony in court vis a vis the testimony of men, and the imposition of death for 'blasphemy' and 'apostasy' (i.e. the complete abrogation of hard-won Western principles of freedom of speech and freedom of conscience) - need to be much more widely known.

We also have to make people realize that Islam permits slavery and that those who dream of a caliphate also openly dream of mass enslavements; and that strict sharia forbids all vocal and instrumental music, whether sacred or profane, and all artistic representation of living beings, and all sculpture.

Bosch Fawstin, if you're reading this: maybe a graphic handbook telling the stories of real-life cases that illustrate all those aspects of sharia that flatly contradict and deny universal human rights, could be produced.

"Oh, please someone lend me their Pepto-bismol."

Another case of Islamonausea.

DDA,

I believe Bosch is still on vacation.

Eight women and one man convicted of adultery are set to be stoned to death in Iran
Jeez - how did they find a man guilty of adultery - were there 4 witnesses of the woman who he did it with confirming it? Was he stupid enough to confess? Or was he an Infidel who did his job on a Muslimah?

Enquiring minds want to know

Notice that's eight women and one man. So ... where are the eight GUYS who made it with the women who are going to get stoned?????????????

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?????????

Of course nobody should be punished for sexuality. That's between them and God.

But the overtly anti-woman bias in Islam on nearly every subject is appalling and despicable.

I want to alert you all to an upcoming film written and directed by a close friend of mine called The Stoning of Soraya M., based on the true story of a stoning written by a French-Iranian journalist back in the mid-80's. The film is being finished even as I write this but has already been accepted at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. It's a great story and a powerful condemnation of this brutal practice, and it's sure to arouse the ire of the adherents of the religion of rage. Keep an eye out for it (hopefully by the end of the year) and show your support.

Infidelatlarge-well said. Think you just about covered everyone...O'Reillys'culture quiz is pretty weak for the threat of our lifetime. May I add:

Each stoning equals a Tomohawk Missile strike on the Iranian "Holy City" of Qom.

How long before this kind of thing happens in Hyde Park or Unter den Linden
