Cry me a river. I'm too lazy to do a hunt for the % of non-whites specifically in Strathclyde. The number I found for all of Scotland was 2%, but that was in 2001. I doubt the % of minorities has declined during that time.
So, going with the conservative 2% figure, what do we find? Let's see, since this dramatic increase in minority searches, we find a whopping 1.9% (3,120 out of a total of 161,052) of those searched were minorities -- slightly less than their proportional rate to the population at large. And it was worse in 2005 when 1.3% (1,108 out of 85,945) of those searched were minority.
When are the Scots going to locate a bit of "growing resentment" of their own and tell these whiners not to bother getting return-trip tickets?
If Muslims did not attack civilians they would not be "inconvenienced" with security searches. There is such a thing as overplaying your hand.I think of the illegal immigrants who would have had their sham "comprehensive immigration reform" if only they had had the good sense to keep their mouths shut and their heads down. It was after the brazen marches in our streets by people here illegally that many Americans turned against them. By the same token people are getting sick and tired of Islam. Our lives are less free and less pleasant because of the presence of Muslims and the inability and unwillingness of many to fit in. Amen to that. I am truly amazed at the strength of those who have managed to contain what must be the most intense rage imaginable.
I deeply resent the inconveniences forced on me by muslims, inconveniences I never dreamed I would suffer in my own country. I long for the good old days before 9-11 when the worst air travel annoyances were late or over-booked flights. Since 9-11, the impositions are too numerous to name but the long airport security lines, being forced to remove your shoes and outer garments, and having your purse rummaged through or the contents dumped into a bin by TSA officials are among the worst, as well as the random extra security screenings when you're pulled out of line, taken to a chair in full view of everyone and tested for explosives residue, scanned from head to toe, asked a bunch of asinine questions by a mumbling TSA agent who never smiles, and treated like an escaped serial killer or terrorist. I finally figured out that when you get your boarding pass at the airport and it has a little hole on one side, you're the one! If you print your own boarding passes you're safe but sometimes, esp. on return flights, you can't. And one of the worst airport nightmares: a security breech resulting in the evacuation of the entire airport, a hellish scenario creating lengthy delays and cancellations.
Thanks to muslims, we now have to go through similar screenings when we enter a courthouse or municipal building. I heard the Statue of Liberty had finally reopened but only the lower level. Everything has changed since muslims flew planes into the Pentagon and World Trade Center and it is we who should be raising holy hell, not whining, arrogant muslims. They really don't know how good they have it (for now) and how lucky they are. One day, they'll be pining for the good old days because the inconveniences they whine about now will be trivial compared to the new ones they'll be dealing with.
As inconvenient as it may be, any innocent Muslim has to acknowledge that intense security is protecting THEM from becoming collateral damage of their more zealous compatriots, or from anyone else for that matter.

And I used to be able to stroll on a plane with a big piece of hand luggage which got stored in the overhead locker plus a smaller one which had all the bits and pieces needed to make the flight less stressful, including whatever drinks I wanted.

Some time ago I was travelling by ferry on holiday with my family.
We were all lining up to drive on board.
We were the only "Asian" family.
I was approached by a policeman who looked the car over. He was very polite and did what he had to do. As he was leaving I told him I knew why he had walked over to us (ferries are targets) we both had a giggle and that was that.

Most of use know that if you make any change of plans, such as changing flights while enroute to your destination ,you are guaranteeing yourself that you will be pulled aside by the TSA for an additional security search before you go on to that flight. A couple of years ago I had to do that because the next connecting flight was cancelled due to fog. I bought a ticket for a different airline to a different city, but because I was pulled out for an additional security check I missed that flight. After that I gave up and rented a car,but I just accepted the fact that it was the way things are now---Thank you Muslims.
For Gods sake, whatever you do don't give into these people at all for it is their violent ideology that has created all this securiy in the first place for all of us!

If Muslims did not attack civilians, airplanes, skyscrapers, primary schools, birthday parties for little girls etc, I would not be inconvenienced and forced to have intrusive searches, just so that the "security" can show that they are not profiling.
"Profiling" is the first step one takes in any criminal investigation or crime prevention. It is absurd to have a non-profiling policy when one is dealing with mass murdering Muslims.

Re: profiling-- I saw the saddest thing today! In the pharmacy was a man with a great, bushy beard (of which he seemed very proud) wearing a grey man dress to his ankles. When I got a good look at him, I saw that he used to be an American.
Anyhow, if he were to shave off that beard, and put on normal clothes, he could pass for an American, again. He wouldn't be singled out by any profile, in that case (unless he's changed his name).
Yet, I'm not against profiling. I'm sorry. I'm not politically correct. Hell, half the time, I'm not even nice.
Profiling is a tool, and the people who wield it should not have to apologize, any more than a carpenter should, for using a hammer.
When people start to whine about profiling, they should be offered a little list of all the thwarted terror attempts that have been halted by profiling.

Why move to an alien nation, when you've already got your familiar "faith, language, and culture" back home in Pakistan or wherever? Islam is definitely respected back home. Islamic holidays are government holidays, Islamic customs and foods and habits are accepted, normal, unquestioned. Sharia and the pronouncements of the imams command respect in the old country. Why go to a new country, with a new language, new customs, a different world-view, when that so obviously puts you out of your "comfort zone"? Britain doesn't subscribe to the superiority of Islam above all other faiths, or of Muslims above all other people. Britain expects immigrants to learn the language and accommodate to the culture. If you can't possibly manage to do that, go-the-heck HOME!

Imagine that in India white fundamentalist Christians had bombed innocent people and were part of a global terror group who required all Muslims to submit to Christianity or face violent consequences.
Imagine also that the Indian secret service had to commit vast resources on monitoring 2000 of these Chistians living in India because they were suspected of plotting further atrocities.
