UK: State school students may be taught Islamic traditions as part of compulsory citizenship lessons

Absurd Britannia Update: "All state pupils may be taught Islamic traditions as part of compulsory citizenship lessons," by Matthew Hickley for the Daily Mail, July 19 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

State school pupils are set to be taught Islamic traditions and values in compulsory citizenship lessons.

The move - part of a package of initiatives announced by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears yesterday - is designed to curb extremism.

Education campaigners warned however against giving Islam a privileged position over other faiths.

Other plans announced by Miss Blears also drew criticism - including a state-funded panel of Islamic scholars and theologians to provide community leadership.

Prominent Muslims said this scheme was naive because Government endorsement would erode the credibility of those taking part, especially among the young and disaffected.

Another measure will see Muslim children being taught citizenship lessons by imams in mosque schools - in the hope that they will be better equipped to resist extremist messages.

We saw this here. What will these imams teach? How will they reconcile this with political Islam?

Many Muslim youngsters in the UK attend evening classes at madrassah schools attached to mosques, where imams give instruction in the Koran and Islamic history.

Ministers want imams to stress that the Koran places a duty on all Muslims to be good neighbours, carry out voluntary work and play an active part in civic society.

Pilot schemes will begin in October in London, Leicester, Birmingham, Oldham, Rochdale, and Bradford.

The Department for Communities and Local Government has tasked the Islam & Citizenship Education group with producing the teaching materials for mosques.

The organisation, however, wants to extend its remit to mainstream state schools by 'teaching Islamic traditions and values in the school citizenship curriculum'....

Ah. An agenda is becoming clear.

Quote: "Ministers want imams to stress that the Koran places a duty on all Muslims to be good neighbours"

- Good neighbours with other Muslims, perhaps, but certainly not with non-Muslims.

Remember way back last decade when "forcing" various indigenous peoples to practice Western ways was one of the unforgiveable sins of the West, according to the Left? Or how we were told Anglo Saxon culture was too moralistic and opressive? Remember how the Left ridiculed the idea of Prohibition, imposed by those puritan Americans? Now the Left is in league with returning it all back in spades under the guise of Islam, along with a few new goodies, like child marriage (rape), legal wife beating, polygamy, beheadings, mandatory headgear, etc. My, my, how progressive--not!

Miss Blears insisted the new panel would be independent, adding: 'It is not for Government to dictate on matters of faith or religious teaching.'

The lessons are by the State and they are compulsory.

But

it's not for the Government to dictate.

Well, it sure sounds like the Government is dictating. Oh, wait, they will set up an independant buffer group chosen by the state and that makes it ok.

The British, by way of their quisling dhimmi officials, are self-deracinating. They are auto-genocidal. This Hazel Blears is part of that. She is extinguishing the British as a people with a culture and traditions, just like the Chinese are doing to the Tibetans.
What's worse, with Islam, there will be no museums to remember the British, only a pile of rubble, like the Bimiyan Buddhas.

Definition from dictionary.com:
de·rac·i·nat·ed, de·rac·i·nat·ing, de·rac·i·nates
1. To pull out by the roots; uproot.
2. To displace from one's native or accustomed environment.

What in the name of holy-heck is going on in Britain?

Why is Islam supposed to be taught as part of "citizenship"??? The very thought makes me gag. (Islam doesn't DO "citizenship"; Islam does "whatever I can get away with".)

Where's the mandatory teaching of Christian beliefs, and of the glorious literature derived therefrom which elucidates the value of man and the purpose of our institutions? THESE ideas are the bedrock upon which our Western civilization is founded.

They're going to teach the LIE (that Allah is the same as our God, that Islam means Peace) over the TRUTH (that all men are the manifestation of God and deserve respect for that reason, BUT, while each individual is due that respect for himself, he also owes that same respect to others. Plus: thou shalt not kill, steal, cheat, lie, plot against your neighbor, etc.)

Jolly old England has lost its way...

Many Muslim youngsters in the UK attend evening classes at madrassah schools attached to mosques, where imams give instruction in the Koran and Islamic history

should that last not be in fantasy (aka the koran) and islamic lying as muslims have none of the history they teach is theres

"State school pupils are set to be taught Islamic traditions and values in compulsory citizenship lessons."

Sharia?!!

Every moment teaching alien "traditions and values" is quite literally deducted from teaching Western History, tradition, and values. Religion certainly has a place in History, but not in Civics.

"Religion certainly has a place in History, but not in Civics."

Unless Moslems are colonizing Western nations -- and that's what Moslems are doing, whether the UK chooses to believe the fact or not.

Goodbye Britain...it was nice knowing you.

a decision that the United Kingdom will regret. Some time in the future a few surviving Brits will stage a revolt and will be wiped out by the Islamic horde thus ending forever the legacy of a once proud and civil country.

So what is the "Cliff's Notes" version of this course...9/11?

.............................

Yes--there's the real agenda--teaching "Islamic traditions and values"--a little Da'wa--to the young kaffirs.

Islamic traditions--would that include violent Jihad? And Islamic values--would that include Shari'ah? Given the views of the Archbishop of Canturbury and Lord Chief Justice, I would suppose so.

What was that line about Britons never being slaves? I guess that is considered out of date, also . . .
