UN continues down the road of unabashed dhimmitude. "Treat Muslims better, Britain told by UN," by Chris Irvine for Telegraph, July 25:
The nine-member human rights committee composed of legal experts, said it was concerned "negative public attitudes towards Muslim members of society" continued to be allowed in Britain. It recommended the Government "should take energetic measures to eliminated this phenomenon and ensure that authors of such acts of discrimination on the basis of religion are adequately deterred and sanctioned."
The committee also expressed concern over the Government's plan to extend detention of terrorist suspects without trial from 28 to 42 days.
Those suspected of terrorism should be promptly charged and taken to court within a reasonable period of time, while their lawyers should have access to the evidence against them.
The committee contains members from Britain, Ireland, Australia, Benin, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Mauritius and Sweden - all are expected to be independent from their governments.
Coupled with the recent government calls for "positive discrimination" to give minorities a helpful leg-up in society this has pretty frightening consequences.
Another nail in the coffin for freedom of speech and equality in the UK.
Here is the text of the report in The Telegraph:

It recommended the Government "should take energetic measures to eliminated this phenomenon and ensure that authors of such acts of discrimination on the basis of religion are adequately deterred and sanctioned."

Their comments come in response to reports from the UK and Ireland on how to carry out their obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Ireland was called upon by the committee to open up its largely Roman Catholic primary school system to secular education, while also asking the Irish parliament to "take measures to help women avoid unwanted pregnancies so that they do not have to resort to illegal or unsafe abortions."

Quaere:
Has this nine-member committee "of the U.N." addressed any complaints to the government of Saudi Arabia, instructing it that it must remove Islamic teachings on Infidels -- with Qur'anic passages and Hadith as supporting -- from its textooks?
Has this nine-member committee "of the U.N.," one of whose members is from Egypt, addressed any complaints to the government of Egypt for the antisemitic content of atelevision series on the government channel, one based on "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion"? Has this nine-member commitee "of the U.N.," one of whose members is from Egypt, addressed any complaints to the government of Egypt for the mistreatment, tolerated for so long in so many ways, and even collaborated in, at times encouraged by, the official media and the government that controls it, of the Copts of Egypt?
Has this nine-member committee "of the U.N." ever addressed any complaints to the government of Iran for its harsh treatment of the Bahai's, and of Jews, and deplored the execution of leaders of both communities under the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially when Khomeini came to power, and hanging judge Khalkhali's court was in full swing?
Has this nine-member committee "of the U.N." ever addressed any complaints to the government of Pakistan, or to tht of Bangladesh, for the mistreatment of Hindus, the discrimination and persecuation and threats, and sometimes threats carried out, against Hindus who have, in large numbers, been forced to flee both Pakistan (formerly West Pakistan) and Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan), while not only have no Muslims in India been forced to flee, but millions of Muslims from Bangladesh have instead fled to India, carrying their Islam with them.
Shall I go on? How many more such rhetorical questions should I put up here? No, I won't continue. You do it. You think up another dozen or two dozen questions, to which of course you know the answer, to be submitted to the nine-person committee "of the U.N." that has just chastised and lectured the government and people of Great Britain for allowing investigation, analysis, and public discussion of the meaning, and therefore of course of the menace, of Islam.
Is it even physically possible for the Brits to bend over any farther?
they can bend over until they bow.

Islamophobia is a canard. Maybe we should start addressing the problem of "dhimmiphobia" in Arabia, Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan, etc.
Let them open Burqa Burger.
Stop Infidelphobia!
Here in the UK we have "negative public attitudes" towards many things.
Some people have "negative public attitudes" towards Gordon Brown and the Labour Party.
Others have "negative public attitudes" towards David Cameron and the Conservatives.
Some people hold "negative public attitudes" towards people who believe in fairy tales and myths and great prophets who performed miracles and travelled on flying horses.
Those believers in turn hold "negative public attitudes" towards people like me who think they are certifiably insane.
It's called secular Democracy.
It took hundreds of years and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of brave men to hone it to where it is now.
And in any free thinking society, holding "negative public attitudes" towards anything and everything is "allowed".
The minute it isn't, it becomes fascism.
Now who on earth could possibly want that?
Don't answer. The question is, of course, entirely rhetorical.
If the UN want to take that freedom away from Britain, it will be over 55 million dead bodies.

I don't suppose either of you pair of towering intellects bothered to read the headline of this post?
"UN demands British government take "energetic measures to eliminate" Islamophobia"
Where, in any of that, did you read of any act of pandering upon the part of 'The British' ?
'Cos I'm fairly certain that the report is saying that the UN is whinging that Britons' attitudes toward Muslims are currently not to their liking.
Or are your remarks being taken 'out of context' and I've got it all wrong?
stupid UN
Britian should stop funding this wierd talk shop that can't stop mugabe let alone darfur!
anyhow the actual truth of the matter is thus:
after 11/9, a survey was conducted by the government in UK to find out what the level of Moslem hatred was, expecting to find that hate attacks had gone up dramaticaly against the followers of the prophet peadophile....
They found out attacks against Jews had shot up to their highest level ever so the government, realising this was because of Moslem hatred (ie moslems hate rather than are hated), buried the report.
Should someone in the UK government care to supply the report it would be nice to see so we can make our own minds up and not rely on media, etc.
Sadly, I fear that Her Majesty's Public servents are too busy serving Allah to do this.
Still waiting breathlessly for the other shoe to fall--Doudou Diene's Report On America. Not! We'll take the soles of our shoes to it, every man-jack and-jenny of us as one, I trust.
I should think that - given that a bunch of Muslims blew up lots of British citizens on a bus and on the underground, and lots and lots of other Muslims have been caught hatching jihad plots to mass murder British citizens, and Muslims have attacked Hindu Britons and Sikh Britons and bashed Anglican priests in the grounds of a church in broad daylight, and a Muslim sneaked up on and stabbed a Jewish Briton in broad daylight in London - the UN has absolutely no right to demand that non-Muslim British citizens (be they Hindu or Sikh, Buddhist or Taoist, Christian or Jewish - especially Jewish) should flatter and bribe and praise all Muslims, or refrain from expressing a well-founded suspicion that many members of the Ummah are manifestly Up To No Good.
This is, at bottom, a demand to behave like dhimmis: no matter what Muslims do to you, up to and including rape, daylight robbery and murder in the first degree, you *must not* complain or resist, you must smile and flatter and grovel.
To be flattered and praised and 'stroked' by people, even by people on whom you, or members of your group, have inflicted dreadful injury...this seems to be the Muslim expectation.
Me, I say, serves the Muslims right if people look at them with suspicion and anger and act warily around them. Who wouldn't?
The onus should be on *them*, not on the British, to behave better.
The UN should be moved from NYC to :
1.) Darfour
2.)Mogadishu
3.)Islamabad
4.)?
4.) HELL
