Al-Arian defenders try to put his prosecutor on trial

It's not that Al-Arian has admitted to aiding Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and has clearly been deeply involved in jihadist activity in the U.S. It's that his prosecutor is "anti-Muslim." This is another variation of the phenomenon I discussed here: if you tell the truth about jihad and Islamic supremacism, it must be because you "hate Muslims." The focus shifts from defendant to prosecutor -- which is just what the jihadists want to accomplish.

"A Prosecutor Is Called 'Relentless,'" by Josh Gerstein for the New York Sun, July 28 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A federal prosecutor who has led a series of investigations into Islamic militants and Muslim groups based in Virginia, Gordon Kromberg, may soon be facing a trial of sorts himself, if defense lawyers get their way.

Attorneys for a former Florida college professor who pleaded guilty two years ago to aiding Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Sami Al-Arian, are asking a federal judge to hold a hearing on whether anti-Muslim bias led to the government's decision to obtain a new indictment of Al-Arian in June for contempt for refusing to testify before grand juries pursuing the Virginia organizations.

While the motion claims Muslim terrorism suspects are generally treated unfairly by the Justice Department, Al-Arian's lawyers argue that Mr. Kromberg, 51, has a particularly egregious record of intemperate statements and actions in a series of terrorism-related cases and investigations.

"Defense attorneys have objected for years that Mr. Kromberg, the lead counsel in many of these cases, has been using the Eastern District of Virginia to mete out his own brand of justice for Muslim terrorism subjects, often openly displaying his personal animus," Al-Arian's lead counsel, Jonathan Turley, wrote. "This long and controversial record forms the backdrop for the allegation of selective and malicious prosecution in this case."

Al-Arian's lawyers claim that in 2006, when Mr. Kromberg moved to obtain new testimony from the former professor following his guilty plea in Florida, the prosecutor "became agitated" in response to a defense lawyer's request that the testimony be put off until after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. "They can kill each other during Ramadan. They can appear before the grand jury; all they can't do is eat before sunset," Mr. Kromberg responded, according to a declaration written by one of Al-Arian's attorneys, Jack Fernandez. Mr. Fernandez said the prosecutor described the request for a postponement as "all part of the attempted Islamization of the American justice system." Mr. Fernandez wrote that he viewed the comments as exhibiting "apparent bias against Muslims."

Mr. Fernandez also said Mr. Kromberg called the 57-month prison sentence Al-Arian received "a bonanza" for the Palestinian Arab activist. He had faced the potential of life in prison for acting as the leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in America, but a trial in 2005 resulted in his acquittal on eight counts and a mistrial on nine others where jurors could not reach a verdict. Al-Arian's lawyers contend that the dogged pursuit of their client is retribution for the outcome of the Tampa trial, which was widely seen as a failure for the government....

Would that we had innumerably more Gordon Crombergs. Let's stop "the attempted Islamization of the American justice system" cold.

"They can kill each other during Ramadan. They can appear before the grand jury; all they can't do is eat before sunset,"

It is an absolute fact that during the Algerian Civil War and the Iraqi insurgency, Ramadan was invariably the bloodiest month of the year as Jihadis magnified their zeal with murderous violence.

Was what Kromberg said in response to the request for a month-long delay in the workings of the American justice system, in order to accommodate an entirely factitious "need" not to disturb the observance of Ramadan, true or not true? If true, if this attempt to actually delay, by an entire month, the workings of that justice system in the United States, not yet -- not by a long shot -- a Muslim nation -- and it would be amusing, though hardly controlling, to find out if Muslim courts "put off" all business during the month of Ramadan -- is indeed, as Kromberg is alleged to have said, part of a campaign to insunuate Islam into the workings, starting with the working calendar, of the American justice system. And that is part of the attempt to push creeping islamization.

And that should be the end of the matter.

In the meantime, as much publicity as possible should be given to this attempt to intimidate not just this prosecutor, in this case, but all prosecutors doing their duty in cases involving Muslim supporters of, or participants in, terrorism.

my disgust is beyond measure....

this "muslin bias" is going to be a big tool for these ass*oles, if this current move goes forward it will be a very bad sign for us. They will continue to chip away until before long we are like the UK.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

All right, I concede--on condition that the ENTIRE defense team observe a strict sun-up to sun-down fast--at Latitude 83 Degrees North in Spring or Summer, Latitude 78 Degrees South Fall or Winter. I hear it's beautiful at McMurdo Station in the Antarctic summertime!

Wouldn't it be just murder to be a Muslim in Murmansk when Ramadan coincides with midsummer?

"Observe a strict Ramadan fast sun-up to sun-down," that is.

They can kill each other during Ramadan. They can appear before the grand jury; all they can't do is eat before sunset," Mr. Kromberg responded,

well this seams to be a
slam dunk as there is plenty of proof that sharia courts operate durring ramadam so all mr Kromberg had to do is show a judge this

Gordon Kromberg is one of the few honest people in the government who refuse to be dhimmies and have the courage to do their duty. It is incredible that they still have the heart to do their job with the abominable, cowardly American jurors shooting down everything they do and acquitting jihadist after jihadists after jihadist in Tampa, Miami, Chicago, Dallas and Seattle.

Ruslan Tokhchukov, EnragedSince1999.

I sent Mr. Kromberg a thank you letter today! He has my full-throated support. I suspect he is also getting "convert-or-die" threats now too.

We are doomed. Want to know how Rome fell, how Egypt fell, this is how.
Britain next, then America.

Perhaps Democracy has a short shelf live, because without all out war these pathetic mediocrities rise to the top?

Perhaps votes for all is a mistake, and you should only be allowed to be a citizen if you bleed for your country.

We're facing a relentless, implacable, and heartless enemy, and all we can do is allow him his victories.

Doomed.

I've been reading JW for quite a while, but I never shared with you the impression I got some time ago. Islam is pre-moral. Islam does know even less about ethics.

I remember from school phases in children development. What I do or my people do is right; if someone hurts me or my people, it is wrong and has to be avenged. Clan mentality.

It is not actions that are judged. If something is wrong to do, then it is wrong to do, no matter who does it. But no, in Islam, Muslims may convert non-Muslims, but non-Muslims may not convert Muslims. Muslims can marry non-Muslim women, but non-Muslim men cannot marry Muslim women. This is kids mentality, not even one of a teenager. And let me laugh, that this kid's mentality comes from the Almighty. LOL ROFL

But wait for the best part (really the worst part): there was one guy, and and all what he did was not only right, but he was the perfect example of a model human. But get this: if someone else dared to behave like this, calling oneself a Prophet, he should be according to that guy killed. If one should behave like me, he should be, according to me, killed. OMG. If we were talking about mafia bosses, then, yea, sure. But a Prophet of God???

That guy did conflicting things: there are no moral stories to be extracted from his life. No generalizations, on what actions (alone, regardless of the actor), are good or bad. Allah cannot be understood. Indeed. There is no morality, instead, there is Sharia. Instead of simple rules, like not causing harm to others or, at least, a simple reflection - don't do to other what you don't want to be done to yourself (beginning of ethics) - there's an elaborate system of subrules and ritualization. Yes, that you wash your legs, before you pray. That you don't fart during prayer. That you don't eat pork. Yea, Paradise, here I come.

A few remarks.

First: they're projecting. They're assuming that Mr Kromberg thinks like a Muslim (i.e vengefulness, hatred, manipulating the law for personal ends).

Second: he's Jewish, so they assume about him, all the things that the Qur'an tells them to think about Jews - i.e. that Jews hate Muslims and plot against them all the time...when in fact, of course, the reality is that Jews, like the rest of us non-Muslims, have lots of much better and more enjoyable things to think about.

I suspect whatever Mr Kromberg thinks about when he's not on the job, is any number of things a Muslim couldn't even imagine. Maybe he goes fishing or reads a good book. Who would bother thinking about Muslims - about jihad, or the great and small cruelties of dhimmitude - if one did not have to, for purposes of self-defence?

Me, I'm *glad* Mr Kromberg is Jewish, and appears to be personally upholding his people's finest tradition of single-minded - yes, let's call it relentless - devotion to Justice and Truth...which means, in this case, that he's relentlessly pinning a bunch of jihadists to the wall, with the full force of American Law, calmly ignoring all squealings, squirmings and slitherings.

Third, from the article:

"The new motion also asserts that Mr. Kromberg joked about the torture of a Virginia man then being held in Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Abu Ali. The suspect's lawyer, *Salim Ali( {my emphasis: dda}, said that when he asked Mr. Kromberg about the possibility of returning the young man to America, the prosecutor "smirked and stated that 'he's no good for us here, he has no fingernails left.'"'
"In a court declaration, Mr. Kromberg said that he had no recollection of making the statement and that he was arguing an appeal in another city when the comment was allegedly made."

Now, Mr Lawyer Salim Ali is a Muslim. What do we know about Muslims? That lying is permitted in war, lying is permitted to Advance Islam. This court case is a war: wicked kafir are presuming to try a Muslim for what they regard as crimes. Conclusion? - Mr Salim Ali's story about a 'torture' remark supposedly made by Kromberg, is 100 % malicious fiction.

(And I see, from reading the whole article, that Mr Kromberg himself is well aware of Islam's Permission to Lie:

"In the [Tamimi] case, Mr. Kromberg argued that the religious beliefs of the defendant and other witnesses made it acceptable to lie to kaffirs, or nonbelievers in Islam. "If you are a kaffir, Timimi believes in time of war, he's supposed to lie to you," the prosecutor told jurors." Way to go, Mr Kromberg!! Educate the jurors. Educate America!)

Final point: "the motion claims Muslim terrorism suspects are generally treated unfairly by the Justice Department,"

Of course they think they're being treated unfairly. *Any* situation in which kafir exercise authority over Muslims, let alone accuse them of wrongdoing and attempt to call them morally or legally to account, is viewed as deeply 'unfair'. Islam views all kafir laws, morality and institutions as illegitimate. Muslims Do No Wrong. Muslims are Innocent by definition; kafir are Guilty by definition. Any kafir who accuses a Muslim of Doing Wrong *must* be lying and malicious. Hence they will squeal, squawk and complain of 'unfairness', and 'personal animus' *whenever* they are nailed by kafir law for *anything*.

I'm sure the Nazis at the Nuremberg Trials thought it was all terribly, terribly unfair, too.

Patrick

I hope other jihadwatchers do as you have done.

You might like to refer Mr Kromberg to an article and discussion by Raymond Ibrahim that appeared here at jihadwatch on 4 July this year: 'Excusing Taqiyya':

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/021625.php#comments

which includes this paragraph from Mr Ibrahim:

"As for the notion [in the 'whitewashing' article under discussion] that “some [Sunnis] reject taqiyya as unacceptable hypocrisy and evidence of cowardice…. Others argue that concealment is warranted under life-threatening circumstances,”

the very first lines of one of the few Arabic books wholly dedicated to treating the doctrine of taqiyya, called al-Taqiyya fi al-Islam (“Taqiyya in Islam”), by Islamic studies professor Sami Makarem, unequivocally states in its opening page:

'Taqiyya is of fundamental importance in Islam. Nearly every Islamic sect has agreed to it and practices it….Indeed, we can go so far as to say that mainstream Islam practices taqiyya, and that those few sects that do not practice it are aberrant, diverging from the mainstream.' (p.7)".

You might also refer him to another article, headlined by Marisol, 'The Truth Depends on Who's Listening', also in jihadwatch this July,

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/021617.php

that dealt with Islamic dissimulation and situational speech.

Finally, there's what Nonie Darwish said in her speech at Berkeley in October 2007:

http://frontpagemag.com/articles/Read.aspx?GUID=17069DA6-6C04-4E06-81C7-010C9F29AD55

"On Arab TV, I once saw a Muslim preacher telling little children that lying is not allowed except under three conditions 1- Lying to non-Muslims when it is in the best interest of Islam. 2- Lying to Muslims if it will end conflict between them. And 3rd: Lying to one’s wife to improve the relationship.

"Lying thus has become an obligation in international relationships, Muslim relationships and family relationships.

"Any wonder why Muslims were silent after 9/11?

"Those who expose the lying game are considered traitors.

" By allowing lying, Muslims have created a culture unable to distinguish between lies from truth; truth has become a convoluted game of saving face for the best interest of Islam."

Since Mr Kromberg is Jewish, it is also worth noting that Ms Darwish, in the same speech, discussed the virulent and habitual antisemitism of Arab Muslim society, and the habit of blaming everything on the Jews). For example, about 9/11, she said:

"I was happy to return to the US on the evening of Sept. 10th. 2001. The next morning I saw the second airplane hit the twin towers, I knew ‘Jihad has come to America.’ Muhammad Attah was from Cairo, the same city I came from.

"I called several friends in Cairo, they were all in denial and said ‘How dare you say that Arabs did this? Don’t you know this is a Jewish conspiracy?'

"
These were not radicals, but ordinary Egyptians who otherwise are very nice people.

"I hung up the phone and felt alone and disconnected from my culture of origin.

" Once again, my people are accusing the Jewish people of something we know very well, we Arabs have done ourselves. In any religion this is considered a sin, but in the eyes of radical Islam, Jews do not deserve the truth, justice or mercy. "

We can all see where the real animus lies, in this al-arian case. The Muslims are totally freaked out and spitting mad at the very idea of a despised JEW - badabadaboom! - being in charge of the prosecution. An unfoolable Jew, more to the point.

I think they're even madder, because Mr Kromberg has 'blown the gaff' by publicly drawing to the jurors' attention the unpleasant fact that Islam permits lying to the kafir, lying in Time of War.

Look at the article again:

"Kromberg argued to the jury that Timimi and the other Muslim witnesses — their testimony should be disregarded just on the basis of their religion," al-Timimi's defense lawyer, Edward MacMahon Jr., said. "I think it's an outrageous thing to argue in the courtroom. Imagine that directed at any other religion.""

Yeah. In the case of *any other religion*, it *would* be outrageous. But Islam is not *like* "any other religion" - precisely because it opens the door to lying. Witness, Professor Sami Makarem and his book on Taqiyya in Islam, referenced by Raymond Ibrahim.

McCarthy was right.

The enemy is among us, and its not only the Islamofascists, its the liberal nutroots and the commies in Hollywood, in the media and in congress. Those who had a look at Pamela's (Atlas Shrugs) site and the list of who's contributing to the Obamessiah is quite revealing.

We are infiltrated left right and centre. This latest overture by CAIR, the denial of words like 'Jihad, Islamic extremists' in the Pentagon and millions of dollars for Sowdi sponsored PR campaigns, for spin-meisters who turn reality upside down, is the hight of insanity. To the outside world it must look as if all of America is on crack.

If the US was really showing leadership on these issues the Euro-dhimmies, the world would come to its senses and follow America's lead.

It's important that the GORDON KROMBERGS that we're Blessed to have,KEEP PROTECTING us from ISLAMOFASCISM,aka,ISLAM!
We are in a LIFE & DEATH Struggle even BIGGER in scope than WWII,as Islam has a "TAQQUIA" "Religious Face", whereas Nazism was RECOGNIZED for the Supremist ,Racist,Political,Conquest-Seeking EVIL IT WAS!
