Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, responded yesterday to attempts by the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) to discredit a panel on State Department outreach to Islamic groups that appear moderate but which seem likely to be anything but (including MPAC itself). He declared:
"This hearing will go on. We need to make sure that the State Department is not giving U.S. tax dollars to those on the other side in the war on terrorism." He added "The Muslim Public Affairs Council should apologize for the statements of its executive director on September 11, 2001."MPAC, ISNA and a constellation of other radical groups and individuals have been supported by the State Department. Perhaps Thursday's testimony will signal a turning point, seeing the State Department implement stricter guidelines to avoid past mistakes and embarrassments, which have damaged America's national security.
It is encouraging to see someone in Sherman's position take the issue on so fearlessly and directly.
"I think one of the greatest fears of people in the United States is somebody may call you a racist...they may call you an Islamophobe," he said in the hearing. "And what we've seen with some of these organizations is their message is clear: ‘Give us money or we'll call you an Islamophobe'...that's what they say to the State Department. What they say to us in Congress is ‘Don't question the fact that we're getting money or we'll call you an Islamophobe.'"

The Islamic supremacist groups hate when their underbelly is exposed especially when someone with Emerson's expertise is given the floor. It is truly encouraging that we have some officials in Washington willing. It's time to make "islamophobe" a term of honor in the West. It should be viewed as a compliment. It describes someone who knows better than to give in to political correctness where Islam is concerned.
Sherman's actions at this time are good, but I'll wait and see what he does maybe eight months from now? Will he be willing to confront a State Department run similarly by someone from his own party or will he join in the chorus of "America's interests are secondary to repairing our "reputation" and showing Muslims that we really, really, REALLY are not against Islam"?
The same career bureaucrats will still be there.
Won't Sherman be praising a President Obama for "reaching out to Islamic groups" and showing them that we really don't want to hurt anyone?

Lately I have been watching the "Bridges" (a Muslim TV channel on cable. Today on a news program called "head to head" they introduced Noah Feldman's new book "The Rise and Fall of the Islamic State." I did not get to hear what Feldman had to say because my viewing was interrupted but I know it had something to do with Sharia law (knowing the kind of "scholar" Feldman is, I am sure it was a whitewash).
I did get back to the television in time to hear one of the host suggesting that everyone read the book:
"...in case Sharia becomes an international way of life."
Is there someone recording these these to put them on you tube? Unfortunately, I do not have the equipment to do this!

A Hindu man who married a Muslim girl was beheaded after a kangaroo court ordered his 'execution' at a village in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
The villagers did not allow the man's hapless wife to approach the police for a fortnight.
The police said today that the girl Munera Bibi from Lakshanpur village met and fell in love with Shailendra Prasad from Bihar while she was working as a maid servant in Mumbai. They got married two and half years ago and the girl is now the mother of a 10-month-old child.
Religion was never a problem for the couple until she came to her own village in the district on July 1 with her husband who concealed his religious identity under the name Munna Sheikh.
But soon the girl's father Ansaria Sheikh became suspicious of his son-in-law's religion on July 14 and reported this to village elders. A 'salishi' (kangaroo court) comprising 22 members summoned Prasad and discovered his true religious identity. He was awarded 'death sentence', sources said.
On July 17 the man's beheaded body was found in a gunny bag in a jute field but as there was no complaint, the police failed to identify the person, the sources said.
Ten days later, the girl, her mother and brother went to Behrampore police station and lodged a formal complaint after which the incident came to light.
The police said three perons have been arrested in this connection.
"We tried to go to the police but the villagers forced us to stay indoors and threatened us with the same fate if we go to the police." the girl said.
The father of the girl and many other villagers are absconding.

I do think that the United States should cut funds to all Muslim controlled states except for humanitarian aid for natural disasters (and I question this). But as in the Tripolian War 1801-1805 under Thomas Jefferson, congress continued to fund the payment to the Barbary States so they would not attack our merchant ships. I do not believe we need to support terrorist of any kind. And yes, I am equating terrorism to Islam. In 1876, Thomas Jefferson, then America’s Minister to France, and John Adams met with Tripoli’s ambassador to Great Britain to ask him by what right his nation attacked American ships and enslaved American citizens; his response was that the Koran allowed them to attack,enslave and kill non-believers. I just saw the same segment repeated this morning. It seems that Noah Feldman believes that Sharia only became oppressive when the Ottomans tried to reform it by cutting out the participation of the scholars. What kind of logical contortions did he use to rationalize away the Hadiths that are often scarier than much of the Sharia law that is applied today?
And yes, I heard the host once again talking about the possibility of Sharia becoming an "international way of life." Real scary. That's the part I would like to see on you tube.

Today, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) released a letter urging Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) to either provide credible experts at an upcoming hearing on foreign aid, or postpone the hearing until credible experts can be found.

Congressman Brad Sherman, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, will call on self-proclaimed "terrorism expert" Steven Emerson to testify at the congressional hearing. Emerson, who has a proven track record of anti-Muslim bigotry, is not a credible expert on foreign aid or foreign policy.
MPAC’s letter calls for the Congressman to "ensure that those who are relied upon for knowledge have the requisite expertise, experience, and nuanced outlook.
