"God will protect me. God is watching. I strangled my daughter."

That's what he said. Yet Muslim spokesmen in the mainstream media (both liberal and conservative) are routinely allowed to get away with bland denials that honor killing has anything to do with Islam.

A manual of Islamic law certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

Why does this stipulation appear in a manual of Islamic law if this has nothing to do with Islam?

American officials and the mainstream media should be calling upon Muslims in America to institute transparent and inspectable programs that teach against the attitudes that lead to honor killing. Instead, they allow Muslim leaders to disclaim any responsibility. And that means that there will be more Chaudhry Rashids, and more Sandeela Kanwals.

"'Honor' Killing for God: Dad's Sick 'Confession,'" by Austin Fenner and Hasani Gittens for the New York Post, August 6 (thanks to Writer Mom):

A Muslim father accused of murdering his daughter in a so-called "honor killing" told cops God would look out for him, as he confessed to the grisly strangulation, authorities said yesterday.

"God will protect me. God is watching," Pakistani immigrant Chaudhry Rashid allegedly confessed to cops. "I strangled my daughter."

At a preliminary hearing yesterday, Detective Mike Christian told a judge Rashid copped to killing his daughter on July 6 with a bungee cord because she had filed divorce papers and was having an extramarital affair.

Christian said Rashid was found sitting in his driveway smoking a cigarette when cops arrested him.

Rashid, 56, waddled into a Georgia courtroom yesterday in shackles to fight murder charges in the death of his only daughter, Sandeela Kanwal, 25, at his home in Jonesboro, an Atlanta suburb.

Kanwal, who worked at a Wal-Mart, wanted to escape her loveless six-year marriage to a Chicago man, Majid Latif, cops said.

Rashid went into a murderous rage after apparently growing tired of numerous arguments with his daughter, concerned that their clashing cultural values would reflect poorly on him and his family, said the detective....

Hanny Lightfoot-Klein, who has worked in the Middle East and Africa and written books on honor killings and genital mutilation in the Muslim world, had another view.

"They do not leave their customs behind when they cross borders, the customs come right with them," she said.

"If any woman in the family in any way does something that dishonors the family, the whole family is dishonored, they are the laughingstock of the whole community, because they 'don't know how to control their women.'

"And the only way this blight on their honor can be eradicated is to kill the one who has committed the crime."

This blaspheming, hate-filled, Muhammadan psycho better hope there is no God.

Eyes: Vacant of Life

Mind: Vacant of Truth

Heart: Vacant of Soul

What kind of fruit does Islam produce: the vacant kind.

Let the white-washing of this proclamation begin.

Islam permeates and regulates all aspects of a Muslim's life, except of course, when an inconvenient disreputable occurence is associated with it.

Then it is indeed "tribal" and "pre-Islamic".

Just a quick note:

The Umdat al-Salik (aka - The Reliance of the Traveller) mentioned by Mr. Spencer is available online HERE.

Cheers

"....concerned that their clashing cultural values would reflect poorly on him and his family...."

Makes perfect sense to any rational person - since strangling your daughter in a murderous rage will NOT reflect poorly on you and your family.

What a sick & demented "cultural value", not to mention a sick & demented Dad. Yeah, some Dad he turned out to be.

In my US culture, Father's cherish their daughter's - as mine did - and my Dad NEVER treated me like that: as an object of his wrath. In fact, I have been married twice, and when I ended my first marriage my Father was nothing but loving and supportive, because he knew that it was MY choice to end MY marriage; he wasn't argumentative with me about my decision, nor was he addicted to rage with murder on his mind. Far from it!

These stories always leave me stunned due to the sharp contrast between Dad's like these, and Father's like mine. Too bad this young woman didn't have a Father like mine. I didn't even know this young woman, and yet I grieve so deeply for her. How very sad....

and how very SICK!!

If they can't leave their beliefs behind then they shouldn't be allowed in. Of course, that would be hard to know who believes and who doesn't, so just don't let any of them in anymore.

The way they treat women is a crime, and that should be taken into account when they try to emigrate.

What a good poster boy this guy would make for a "ban Muslim immigration" effort.

He will be joining Mohammad soon enough in his new eternal home and he's not going to like it one bit.

What is this, the fourth honor killing so far in North America (that we know of)?

As for that document "The Reliance of the Traveler", would that "traveler" be Muslims who are "traveling" into non-Islamic lands, by any chance?

Let's hope this piece of crap meets his god, Allah, in Hell alongside his messenger, Mobie.

Hey, it's just like Obama's position on Partial Birth Abortion

"God will protect me. God is watching,"

Your God is most definitely not my God.

Thank you, Doctor Bulldog, for the link to The Reliance of the Traveller.

I suspect there would be a simple method of ending honour killings in all western nations tomorrow if it were not totally alien to our laws and customs.
I read somewhere that it an effective method of interrogating religiously motivated terrorists in middle eastern countries is to drag their mother into the police station and start undressing her in the presence of the person being questioned with several other police officers present. The sense of family honour is so ingrained in the culture that the suspect will start singing like a canary barely before they have taken off her overcoat.
Since it is probable that whole families are aware of what is going to take place with these murders it would be very slightly more acceptable to put my suggestion into practice, but if it saves lives, there is no need to be too scrupulous.
In any family where an honour murder has occurs it should become the norm to parade the female (and males as well - what the hell) of that family in front of a video camera, in their underwear, and then release the resulting footage on the internet or to some TV channel that goes in for weird videoclips. If they knew this would be their unfailing fate the pressure within families to prevent such murders taking place would become overwhelming. The loss of honour and amount of shame involved would be deemed insupportable. I honestly think the religion makes people's value systems that crazy.

Unfortunately, although they would work, only a tyrannical country could think of using such methods - like many an Islamic state. They, however, do not seem over-concerned about ending the practice.

"This blaspheming, hate-filled, Muhammadan psycho better hope there is no God."

Whaddya mean, ynkedoodl? He was just doing what his religion told him to do. And God (Sorry, ALLAH) forbid us punishing him for carrying out his backward and savage rituals...

"Unfortunately, although they would work, only a tyrannical country could think of using such methods - like many an Islamic state."

Nah, Islamic states don't go in for such mild treatment as you describe, forcing a man's mother to take off her shirt, or making videos of family members naked etc. That's child's play. They go in for REAL torture:

In its 1983 report on human rights conditions in Syria, AI[Amnesty International] delineated 23 different types of torture. Now [1989] the list has been expanded to 38. The most common torture consists of beatings on all parts of the body "with fists, feet, leather belts, sticks, whips, hammers, braided steel cables or cables inside plastic hoses with the ends frayed". Also common is extinguishing cigarettes on the body, often on sensitive parts. Other methods include extracting finger and toe nails; plucking hair or skin with pincers or pliers; sexual abuse or assault; forcing objects into the rectum; complete isolation in a dark cell; setting hands and limbs afire; slashing a victim's face--lips, ears, nose--with razor blades; and mock executions with a specially-rigged guillotine.

Torturers often invent euphemisms to describe their grisly methods. Bisat al-Rih (the Flying Carpet) has an innocent, even enchanting ring, but it is frightful: "strapping the victim to a piece of wood shaped like a human body and either beating him or her or applying electric shocks all over the body." Al-Kursi al-Almani (the German Chair) has moving parts to which the victim's hands and feet are strapped. As the chair is moved backwards, it exerts severe pressure on the victim's spine, neck and limbs, resulting in near asphyxiation, loss of consciousness, and occasionally fracturing the vertebrae. A variation, known as al-Kursi al-Suri (the Syrian Chair), is equipped with metal blades that pierce the victim's ankles as the chair is bent backwards.

The infamous al-'Abd al-Aswad (the Black Slave) contraption drives a heated metal skewer into the rectum of the victim strapped to it.

Strange god of his, this Rashid. Moloch? The god of the Ammonites--Rabbath-Ammom, their capital, is modern Amman, Jordan--certainly is known for demanding child sacrifice.

We can insure that honor killing has no place in our country - by insuring that muslims have no place in our country.

Neither islam nor muslims belong here.

Well, speaking as a Brit, I think we should have a mandatory death sentance for honour crimes - it worked with suti in India in the 19th Century.
Found guilty, hanged a week later. And for the really disgusting cases (like a poor girl murdered last year in Britain - she was beaten and gang-raped before her uncle strangled her), we should hang them slowly by piano-wire.

And that should extend to all involved. Not just the murderer.

At the risk of sounding like an old-fashioned feminist - I think the key to bringing this stone-age society into modern times must lie in its women. Where are the mothers when these "honor" killings are taking place? I, for one, would fight to the death anyone (including a relative) who decided that my 16 year old daughter needed killing, or that my 68 year old mother needed killing.
I think we should invade them with education. I think that if we could teach the women that they are worthy human beings in their own right (without Mohammad or hubby) and that if they had some measure of formal education it would do a lot toward bringing them out of the stone age.

By the way - why not charge the victim's other close relatives as accomplices - for that matter. They must have had SOME inkling that she was in danger. Did no one come to her defense? Try to help her hide or get away? If negligent relatives were also charged, or if the entire remaining negligent family were deported, maybe it would help to stop these awful slaughters. I know that in my own state mothers who have had infants and children suffer at the hands of drunken boyfriends have been charged and convicted as negligent accompices.
Finally, the face of this murderer is one of the ugliest, most evil faces I think I've ever seen. I hope he suffers for what he did.

It is true that the manual of Islamic law, "Reliance of the Traveler",says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, this may give the wrong impression. On the same page, the manual says: "The killing of a believer is more heinous in Allah's sight than doing away with all of this world." Also, in addition to a mother or father who kills their child being an exception to retaliation, so, too, is "a Muslim for killing a non-Muslim" exempt from retaliation. ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

Charlie -

Where was the mother? In many cases, the mother is right there, assisting in the crime. Remember the case where the mother held the daughter down while the father stabbed her to death? We often assume that all muslim women are unwilling victims (and most of them probably are) but some of them are so brainwashed that they become willing participants.

Regarding "Old-Fashioned Feminists": It is a constant source of amazement to me that, among Western non-muslims, the most vocal supporters of islam are usually part of the left-wing establishment. In any setting other than a discussion of islam, most of these people are strongly pro-feminist, pro-gay rights. These are the same people who constantly criticise Christianity for being "intolerant"; the people who called the Boy Scouts of America "Nazis" for refusing to allow an openly gay scout leader. It seems to me that people with liberal values should be islam's biggest critics.

And yet, as soon as islam enters the discussion, all previously held positions go right out the window. It is as though the mere fact that someone is a muslim trumps every negative quality that a person may have.

I have never entirely understood this phenomenon; probably never will.

Judging by the things you describe - and the sorts of things Saddam Hussein got up to, and the horrors that are described in passage after passage of 'Legacy of Jihad', especially when Muslims were killing Hindus, and the ghastliness of the behaviour of the Ottoman Turks, especially their rulers - Islam isn't just a Religion of Death.

It is also a Religion of Cruelty, a Religion of Sadism.

To employ Rowlings' terminology, it employs each of the Three Unforgiveable Curses: Imperius, Cruciatus, Avada Kedavra, that is, Total Control over Another; the Taking of Pleasure in Inflicting Extreme Pain upon Another; and the Will to Annihilate the Other.

Slavery, Torture, Murder.

Strip off all the veils of illusion and that's what we're dealing with - a belief system, an ideology, that seems to be designed expressly to produce and validate psychopaths and sociopaths and to provide them with endless opportunities to indulge their darkest desires upon helpless victims.

He looks brianless. Tap on his head and see if you can hear drumming beats. This will confirm that his head is as empty as a drum.

He looks like muhammed the prophet. If muhammed the prophet was here today, this is exactly how he would have looked.

If I were the Judge that monster would be sent to meet Allah immediately and his burrial would be forbiden to take place on US soil.

Yes, Shortfattexan, you have a point there about the mothers aiding in the killing. I remember the case you mention. What I'm not sure about is to what extent (if any) of culpablity are the extended family members held?

The extent to which family members may be charged is, in this case, codified in Georgia law.

Would it be oossible to start a letter-writing campaign to the prosecutor in this case demanding that the entire cult-family of murderers and accomplices be charged in this case?

The prosecutor would be the one to write to, but they're limited to what law was on the books at the time of the murder, and those are secular laws.

If we try to suggest that the murders were committed in the name of Islam, which they were, that's probably neither relevant nor admissible in court since murder laws in this country aren't written or applied from the standpoint of a particular religion.

Maybe the best point to make to the prosecutor would be that the killer was not insane but was motivated by a certain belief, which tends to show premeditation, and he therefore deserves the harshest punishment.

I looked for the book on Amazon and they offer a a search facility there where you can read the contents prior to purchasing it.

I found the ruling on page 582-3.

I intend to follow this case until I get the name of the prosecutor and write letters. If this case could set some kind of precedent it might be the beginning of the end of these horrors, happening in our own cities, and perpetrated by nothing more than, in my opinion, a murderous cult of foreigners. There have been other religious cults of native citizens who weren't allowed to continue their own form of "law."

"God will protect me. God is watching,"

You mean Allah? Sorry, but Allah is not God.

Allah is a pre-Islamic pagan moon deity (god) that doesn't exist. Therefore, you're not going to be "protected." What a monster you are.

Allah won't protect him, but our American court system will if we don't make some changes.
