AT least 45 people were killed in a double suicide blast outside Pakistan's main military arms factory today, police said.The attackers struck almost simultaneously outside two gates of the huge factory in the northern town of Taxila, near the capital Islamabad, local police chief Nasir Durrani said.
It was the second incident of suspected militant violence in Pakistan since key US ally Pervez Musharraf resigned as president on Monday, leaving the pursuit of the "war on terror'' to the fragile coalition government.
"It's a massive attack,'' said.
"Two men apparently blew themselves up outside the factory during a shift change. The bombers were on foot and they exploded themselves less than a minute apart,'' he said.
Factory worker Riaz Hussain said most of the victims were labourers who were joining the afternoon shift.
"I was working in the factory when I heard one blast and then another. They were huge,'' he said.
"Security people then immediately surrounded the place and we were not allowed to go outside. They allowed us out one by one after clearing the area.''
An official from an ambulance service said that more than 100 injured, along with the bodies of the dead, had been taken to hospital.
"The blast took place as staff were leaving after finishing their day's duty and it was very crowded,'' said Zaheer Shah, of Edhi Rescue, Pakistan's largest private charity.
"We have 25 ambulances working and there also army and factory staff engaged in the rescue work,'' Shah said.
The blast comes two days after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a hospital in the northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, killing 30 people.
Pakistani Taliban militants have warned in recent days that they would launch attacks on the military in revenge for an ongoing army operation in the troubled tribal region of Bajaur on the Afghan border....

It comes down to the abrogation of peaceful Meccan suras by Al-Taubah (Sura Nine), allegedly the most recent, and one of the most violent and aggressive suras. IMO, the strongest language in the Quran is 9.111:

Notice how all the translations agree and there seems to be little substantive difference in the meaning? That's pretty common, despite what Muslims often claim about translations being inaccurate -- when that's convenient for them.
Jihadis usually justify killing non-Muslims through accidental martrydom (which they should support) or takfir (they were bad Muslims). So the highest goals are to fight in Allah's cause (jihad) to achieve martyrdom.
Here's the most important example, the Muslim Brotherhood's motto:
"Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope."
Hamas, CAIR, and al Qaeda all agree on those ends, but sometimes differ slightly on which immediate means are most effective. Violent jihad (qital) is the most traditional means, but certainly not the only. To them, "martyrdom operations" with explosives are the modern equivalent of fighting against great odds with a sword to advance the cause of Allah.
Sorry, not "non-Muslims" after "justify killing" but "other Muslims". Killing non-Muslims isn't controversial in Islam.

About a month ago (as I recall) the Sheik said that his web hosting service had received complaints that he was hosting a "hate site", and blocked him.
Of course, this is not true. While his humor is sometimes a bit more flippant than that of Robert or Hugh, anyone who has seen the Winds of Jihad site knows that Sheik-yer-mami only uses reputable MSM reference for his postings--just like JW.
Last I heard, he is looking for a new web hosting service. I know he posts here regularly at JW--I saw some of his comments just a day or two ago. I hope he is having some luck--he runs a very good site.

There was this interestng blurb in an AP report I saw earlier today:
"Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said the perimeter is guarded by a dedicated paramilitary force. Experts have suggested that facilities related to Pakistan's secretive nuclear weapons program are located in the Wah area, possibly including a uranium enrichment plant."
