Houssein Zorkot, a third-year medical student at Wayne State University in Michigan, was arrested on September 8 at Hemlock Park in Detroit. He was wearing camouflage makeup, black clothes, and carrying an AK-47 assault rifle; he reportedly had to be tasered by police when he was arrested. His website features photographs of the Ayatollah Khomeini and a great deal of pro-Hizballah material. Most ominously, on the day he was arrested he uploaded onto his site an image that included a photo of a soldier holding a rifle, with the caption, “The Start of My Personal Jihad (in the US).” Underneath in Arabic was Qur’an 9:20: “Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way are of much greater worth in Allah’s sight. These are they who are triumphant.” The Arabic for “striven…in Allah’s way” is jahadoo fi sabil Allah, which in Islamic theology refers in particular to jihad as warfare.
And now he is free to resume that personal jihad.
"Hemlock Park gunman gets 2 years probation," by Sean Delaney for the Oakland (Michigan) Press, August 17 (thanks to Debbie Schlussel):
DEARBORN - Houssein Ali Zorkot — a once-promising medical student at Wayne State University — was sentenced on July 29 to two years probation after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a Sept. 8, 2007, incident in Dearborn's Hemlock Park. The controversial case gained national attention in late 2007 when Zorkot, then 26 years old, was observed carrying a loaded AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle near the west side of the park, which is located north of Ford Road near Schaefer.
Following his arrest, Zorkot's status as a Lebanese American and his open support of Hezbollah, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, led some to classify the Dearborn resident as a terrorist.
Or at very least as a jihadist.
Zorkot was arraigned on charges on Sept. 11, 2007, in Dearborn's 19th District Court — the same day city officials issued a press release about the incident.Dearborn Mayor Jack O'Reilly has defended the city's decision to delay releasing the information three days, and told the Press & Guide the information was withheld until after Zorkot's arraignment to avoid stirring up fears of another terrorist attack.
While Zorkot openly supports Hezbollah on his Web site — www.zorkot.org — he has not been identified as a terrorist or linked to any terrorist group, according to law enforcement officials.
The Dearborn resident pled guilty last month to the charges of possessing a weapon in a vehicle, possessing a weapon with unlawful intent and felony firearm.
According to Dearborn police, Zorkot was dressed in dark clothing and had his face painted black when officers located him on Sept. 8, 2007, inside his 2007 Ford Escape, which was parked on the park's west side. The engine was still running.
Officers approached the vehicle, which proceeded to pull out of the parking space and head northbound toward the park's entrance. Dearborn police were able to block the vehicle in before it was able to leave the park.
When approached by officers, Zorkot opened the driver's side door, but remained inside the vehicle. He then asked officers why they had stopped him, and said, "You guys are always harassing me."
During the confrontation, officers observed Zorkot lower his right hand toward the center console, which was out of view. According to police reports, officers feared Zorkot may have been reaching for a weapon and grabbed his left wrist while ordering him to exit the vehicle.
An officer at the scene observed the AK-47 in the vehicle's backseat, and alerted her fellow officers that the Dearborn resident was armed. Zorkot was then forcibly removed from the vehicle through the driver's side door — although he initially refused to let go of the door. [...]
Evidence technicians then searched Zorkot's vehicle and found two pairs of cloth gloves, a military combat belt with a canteen and two knives, boots with socks, a receipt for the AK-47 rifle and ammo, a gunlock and keys, a list of Metro Detroit shooting ranges, numerous photographs of Zorkot standing in front of billboard depicting "various Muslim extremists," a briefcase containing a laptop and a cell phone.
Two cameras, a portable AM/FM radio, a pair of binoculars, four computer CDs, an Army surplus bag, a camouflage face paint kit, a Lebanon flag, a VCR cassette of "The Never Ending Story," and eight prepaid international phone cards were also found inside the vehicle....
A never-ending story it is indeed.
I hope this peaceful individual will be allowed to continue medical school. Once he becomes a doctor, his ignorance and poverty will come to an end and thus, he will have no reason for terrorism.
He will have the chose his life from either a burger flipper in MickyDees or use his personal jihad persona again and if he choses his old jihad and manages to kill and or maim people will the judge be held responsible who let him out?
Once he becomes a doctor, his ignorance and poverty will come to an end and thus, he will have no reason for terrorism.

One problem...every time he goes to pray to Allah he will get that irresistable urge to kill someone.
Send him back to hell where he belongs -
the madhouse -
that is the Eastern country that spawned him.
Query:
Hossein Zorkot is a "third-year medical student" at Wayne State University.
Hossein Zorkot was "arrested on September 8 at Hemlock Park in Detroit. These are they who are triumphant.”
In a year Hossein Zorkot will graduate from medical school (unless is he no longer a medical student; the article describes him as a "once-promising" student which is ambiguous as to his current status). He will be an intern, then a resident, then a doctor. He will be treating Infidels, those whom he has been inculcated to regard as the Permanent Enemy. Would you have any worries or anxieties about coming to the hospital, and finding "Dr. Hossein Zorkot" as your doctor? And what if you sense that he is careless or negligent, almost wilfully so, because, you suspect, he doesn't care for you, doesn't wish you well? Would it be wrong to have such suspicions, given what we know can be found in the Qur'an, the Hadith, the Sira? And what if you, or other patients, suffer as a result, and bring a lawsuit? How will the lawyers defending that lawsuit avoid discussion of what Islam teaches, and avoid the problem -- it cannot much longer be avoided -- of Muslims treating those whom they are taught to treat with permanent mistrust and hostility? Will insurance companies, the ones that offer malpractice suits, not have to worry about this, and not have to vigilantly follow other cases, now being brought, or that have been brought, by those who charge that their own relatives have suffered (in one case I know, the son of a Jewish man who remained untreated and died is convinced that the negligence of the Muslim doctor is a result of that doctor's attitude toward Jews -- and, presumably, other non-Muslims (though possibly in a less virulent form).
This isn't something malpractice insurers can any longer avoid factoring in. And it may be, in Infidel lands, Muslim doctors will have themselves, or cause to be spread around, higher malpractice insurance rates, for they have the burden, in court, of showing that, even though they call themselves Muslims, they do not accept the attitudes that Islam so clearly inculcates against non-Muslims. See 9.29, see 9.5, see all of Sura 9, see the more than one hundred "Jihad verses" compiled in the Calcutta Qur'an Petition, see all the testimony of defectors (apostates) from Islam, all the scholarship of the non-apologist Western scholars of Islam, see the texts and tenets of Islam.
Forensic Islamic studies: a field whose time has come.
Odd.
When I, a middle (OK, late middle) aged European visit the States, it is made clear to me that the Americans neither want me to come in, nor trust me, need me to prove I can pay my way, and will come and arrest me if I am not OUT by the date I promised (when if possible, the Emigration people will be even nastier than the Immigration people) . But when a US resident decides to tote an AK47 around in a park in order to slay Americans and cause mayhem, he is welcome to stay.
Is it because I ain't a Muslim?
A "once promising medical student"? Where's the evidence of that? He must have been burning the candle at both ends, what with creating and maintaining his own jihadi website, plotting the random murders he intended to commit, and...oh, yeah--the medical school thing.
Two years of probation. Should be two years of intense surveillance, with one of those ankle doohickeys that make it possible to locate him at all times.
For the most part, the study and practice of medicine is about healing people. For this guy, it's about having control over the lives and health of other people.
When an "unbeliever" displays this megalomaniacal mindset, it is remarked upon. However, to notice the same in a Muslim medical student would just be Islamophobic, wouldn't it?
The cops won't always be able to catch these bad guus before they start shooting.
And, there will be more and more of these sudden jihadists here, though I don't think this guy was that "sudden."
That means it's up to you and me to be prepared, just in case.
Man up, America.
Hey, great site. I visit almost daily.
Why can't we just get rid of these criminals. Send them to prison for a long time, deport them or maybe just let the folks in the 'hood deal with them?
Beachhutman,
Sorry to hear of your experiences with American officialdom -- at least I hope you're speaking of officialdom, and not the general American public. If it's any comfort to you, they can be just as rude and crude to their fellow Americans.
You ask "Is it because I ain't a Muslim?"
Yeah, it is. If the "student" in this case had been a member of the Aryan Nation or the Posse Comitatus, and had been found with plans and maps of federal office buildings, they would have thrown the book at him, and he'd be facing many years in the slammer.
This is the kind of lame justice that is going to get Americans killed. I can't speak to all the evidence, but inclusively it appears profoundly adequate for a much greater sentence without question.
The way to get rid of them, in my view, is first to know they're out there, which readers of this blog can do easily by way of the truth presented by Robert, Hugh, Marsisol, and Raymond.
Then, with truth guiding, we confront these men and women whenever and wherever they dare to rise up off their hind legs.
If that means vigorously arguing against jihad at an "Islam awareness" event, then that's what we do.
If it means something more aggressive, then we shouldn't be timid about being more aggressive, and audacious, within the parameters of existing US law.
We are "the hood".
He can't seem to distinguish between "personal" jihad and "public" jihad.
Justice has been served...We can all sleep better now...
So beachhutman...Americans neither trust you or want you here? Maybe thats a clue.
Is there some reason that they should trust you?
What have you done to establish trust with Americans? What have you done that they would 'want' you in their country?
You expect to be treated as 'special'?
America is a melting pot of all kinds of stuff, not all of it nice.
Don't expect that to change just for you...
When Zorkot refused to comply with officers' orders, he was stunned again and taken into custody. As police placed him into the back of a patrol vehicle, he allegedly said: "You think this is over? This is not over."
Definitely should be free to try it again.
/
Why is he still in the US?
OT,
I live in "Small Town", USA.
The number of moslems here have grown exponentially in 2 years. If they are becoming numerous here, what will it be like in this country in another 20 to 30 years?
The idiots in charge have a death wish for the western way of life.

The man pled guilty. That suggests a bargain between his lawyer and the prosecutor. Reduced sentences are often a condition of pleading guilty. Don't blame the judge, at least not entirely.
2 years probation!?
Are you sure you haven't been importing your judiciary from the UK? Oh no, wait a minute. If it had been a UK judge he would have got 6 months probation and then sued the police for wrongful arrest.
Welcome to the UK, the worlds first minoritocracy. Home to Al-Qaeda and safe haven for the worlds most dangerous terrorists. Brought to you by our socialist government who still think they are students living in the 60's.
When approached by officers, Zorkot opened the driver's side door, but remained inside the vehicle. He then asked officers why they had stopped him, and said, "You guys are always harassing me."
....................................
Well, it's a good thing I didn't have a mouthful of coffee when I read that one. This guy was known to be dressed in full camoflage--including face paint--and toting an AK-47, for God's sake, *before* police approached him.
And now, for the completely expected:
While Zorkot openly supports Hezbollah on his Web site — www.zorkot.org — he has not been identified as a terrorist or linked to any terrorist group, according to law enforcement officials.
....................................
Duh, he's a freelancer. Maybe he'd been planning this "operation" for a long time, or maybe he ran into a hitch in his life--a girlfriend who cooled on dating him, a slip in grades at medical school, a shortfall of personal funds--and decided that this must be the fault (somehow) of the Infidel, and that the Infidel must pay.
Maybe he wasn't deported because his threats were stupidly misinterpreted as a personal in nature against the arresting cops, as opposed to a promise of continued jihad.
i don't know how judges are elected up there, but we need to change it.
Here are some things that people don't know about this Medical student by day, Jihadist by day/night.
A year before this wacko was jihading in the park, he was quoted in the Wayne State Medical School Alumni Magazine where his comments were illustrative of the typical jihadist (say one thing to the western media, forment Jihad in your own community)http://www.med.wayne.edu/news_media/scribe/PDF/2006/06WinterScribe.pdf :
'Celebrating one of the most diverse student bodies in the country, the Wayne State University School of Medicine held its annual Ethnic Week in October. "Although Ethnic Week was only over a span of several days, the unity which we all displayed holds lifelong implications,”said Houssein Zorkot, second-year medical student and president of the Board of Student Organizations. “Becoming aware ofcultural and ethnic issues is essential to a career in medicine. Thankfully, the WSU School of Medicine has a very diverse student body. The more diverse the body, the richer the experience. We had fun, too — it was great."'
Now if he had been wearing a Nazi uniform or a white sheet?
Let's just remember the state motto of Virginia. I leave the translation to the student.
Two years probation? What a disgrace. Officialdom remains clueless and simply can't see Islam as the menace which it is. In the mean time more Muslims keep coming to America.
Right by my home a young Muslim man for the past two years or so has walked with two young Muslim women clad from head to foot, even in the hottest of weather. He usually appears to be doing all the talking, almost in a lecture like way. The other day I saw him with about seven such young women. Hell, I thought, there's even more of them now. And most everytime I see him and his retinue in my neighborhood, I think the same thing: future suicide bomber.
How I have come to detest the Islamic faith, all of it, and my contempt for so-called "moderate" Muslims grows with each passing year. They're parasites feeding on Western liberties and seemingly oblivious of belonging to the largest death cult of all time. Actually, I think it would be better if all Muslims were radicals, then it would be far more likely the elites would finally act properly and treat all Muslims as the danger they are. Meanwhile, the infiltration continues. Gettin' fed up.
Indeed, Hugh. The case of Dr. Tahir Javed, MD. in Nebraska is an interesting case study in the need for Islamic forensics. He ran a cancer clinic where he taught his staff to reuse needles from ill patients, resulting in a widespread Hep C outbreak in the patients and family members and resulting in several deaths. When brought up on criminal and civil charges, he fled the US to his native Pakistan, where he was named Pakistan's Minister of Health. Google up the 'good' Doctor for more info.
Yea, what Wellington said.
I just sent e-mails to the Governor of Michigan (Jennifer Granholm), Oakland County Commissioners (Chairmain Bill Bullard, Jr) and Dearborn Mayor (John O'Reilly) to the effect that they and their courts have made a grievous error regarding Islam. Houssein Ali Zorkot is a violent individual jihadist in the service of Islam.
I also included a distillation of info on Islam I call a "Citizen's Plea re Islam" (1 page) and the "Four Stages of Islamic Conquest" (1 page). The sleeping officials need a slap on the face to wake them and something short enough to keep their attention.
Paul Ruff, Assessor, Frankfort, Illinois, has received hundreds of positive responses re his e-mail that those wanting sharia should be deported. Show the good guys you support them and attempt to enlighted the ignorant.
We cannot afford to converse just amongst ourselves. Reach out and touch someone. I have hope because of you'all - this on-line community of thoughtful, aware, freedom-loving folks from around the world. You and I can turn this tide. We must...
Beachhutman has a point. The US didn't do anything about a certain bunch of 19 Islamists (15 of them Saudis) who gained entry to the US 7 or 8 years ago, and we know only too well what they went on to do on 9/11.
"two pairs of cloth gloves, a military combat belt with a canteen and two knives, boots with socks, a receipt for the AK-47 rifle and ammo, a gunlock and keys, a list of Metro Detroit shooting ranges, numerous photographs of Zorkot standing in front of billboard depicting "various Muslim extremists," a briefcase containing a laptop and a cell phone.

The Judge must have thought that this was just your standard camping equipment.
It is. Standard for Afghanistan or Iraq.

I completely agree with everything stated by Wellington!! And I must confess that I too hate Islam; especially it's false prophet, Muhammad. But hey, anyone who follows after this false prophet has chosen to do so, so you can just as easily choose NOT to follow after him and his false god. It boils down to making a choice, so choose wisely; and the moderate is just as bad because they too are following after Muhammad, who was nothing more than a murdering marauder and sexual pervert. Moderates are not any better because they are saying that they approved of Muhammad's criminal behavior & lifestyle.
Will he go on to launch a medical jihad against the infidel? Are you feeling lucky? Any time I encounter someone recognizable as a member of the "religion of peace" in a professional or commercial capacity, I do an immediate about face, and march smartly out of the enterprise they work for.
/Just sayin'.
We need to deport anyone professing allegiance to islam ... expeditiously, permanently ... deport them singly and/or in large groups.
They are not welcome, here.
Beachhutman - Most Americans are unfamiliar with the hostile treatment afforded foreigners entering and leaving our country through its official ports of entry, so your story will come as a surprise to them. Yet, it is a common refrain I hear from almost all students and colleagues who visit the U.S. for professional reasons or for holidays. Your experience is not unique, but I don't think Muslims are singled out for special favors as you suggest. Indeed, I think they are generally scrutinized more closely than most.
Since no one is actually proposing a solution to the problem of Islam in the US we can expect much more of this and far worse.
My solution would stop this problem. See -
http://pedestrianinfidel.blogspot.com/2007/02/proposed-constitutional-amendment.html
Here's a taste:
Article I
The social/political/ideological system known around the world as Islam is not recognized in the United States as a religion.
The practice of Islam is therefore not protected under the 1st Amendment as to freedom of religion and speech.
Article II
As representatives of Islam around the world have declared war, and committed acts of war, against the United States and its democratic allies around the world, Islam is hereby declared an enemy of the United States and its practice within the United States is now prohibited.
----------
But of course, this offends the Constitution so will never be discussed seriously. All the while those who don't give a damn about our Bill of Rights continue their "stealth" jihad to destroy our freedoms and way of life.
People better start thinking seriosly of solutions rather than just complaining about it or else we'll never win.
This is insane. The only thing this traitor should get is a last cigarette.
Two years probation is entirely fitting - if you consider Islam a Religion of Peace.
And Ramos & Campeon sit in prison for another 10 years.
LISTEN to your President....WATCH what he does.
Who is the enemy?
I think that's a bit much. As much as this particular case is clearly an injustice, to call President Bush, or any President, "the enemy" is just wrong.
I wouldn't call Bush the enemy, just like I wouldn't call Inspector Cluseau a criminal even if his constant bungling ends up helping the criminals.
Time will tell.
I'm with "undaunted" here in his hesitation to castigate the President. Yes, Bush thinks there is a good Islam which needs to be rescued from those who have hijacked it. I don't believe this and think all of Islam is rotten. But very well informed and good folks like Daniel Pipes and Bernard Lewis also think that a good Islam lurks out there somewhere. So why single out Bush?
Almost no major Western politician has shown a willingness (and knowledge) to question the entire Islamic faith. Besides, in one very important respect, President Bush has been masterful and that is in protecting Americans from further attack on their homeland since 9/11 (if not him, then who?----and please dismiss the feeble argument that Al Qaeda and their ilk work on a time schedule which is long in nature and that is why we've not been hit; such an argument is not an argument at all but an excuse for not crediting the Bush Administration). The President is only in the majority (which hoepfully will change) in not being able to come to the conclusion that an entire religion is fundamentally flawed. But we will need a President soon who thinks otherwise. McCain is not such a person and Obama, clueless on almost everything, certainly is not, but I fervently hope there is a Winston Churchill type out there in the American heartland who does "get it" about Islam. We'll need such a person sooner rather than later.

For God's sake, how much evidence do our illustrious leaders and potential leaders need to connect the dots between islam and Armageddon? People like Bush, McCain, and the Savior Obama have access to up-to-the-minute, classified intelligence data detailing what the jihadists are up to everywhere in the world. Muslims are responsible for almost every current global conflict and they clearly state their motiviation (islam); their goal (world domination); and their strategy (jihad). Why do the leaders of the free world REFUSE to believe them?!
After 9-11, it was obvious to millions of Americans that islam inspired and motiviated muslim terrorists to fly planes into the Pentagon and World Trade Center. So millions of Americans made it a priority to study the religion that teaches people to hate and kill; they wanted to understand "why they hate us". It wasn't a difficult task; the answer to "why they hate us" can be found in the qur'an, sira, and hadith. It's right there, clearly elucidated, for anyone to read. WHY WON'T THEY READ IT?!
Washington is full of ivy-league educated intellectuals who claim they are qualified to run the country yet none of them know a damn thing about islamic history and centuries of islamic conquest and expansion (jihad). It is almost impossible to believe that political correctness prohibits naming our real enemy, but it is absolutely impossible to believe that nobody in Washington knows the truth. And the muslims keep coming, more every day.
The people we empowered to represent us are giving our country away to incongruous, unassimilable, hostile immigrants, both legal and illegal. In a few years, America will be unrecognizable if the current invasion continues. The words "multiculturalism", "diversity", "minority" and "racism" have become obscenities, parrotted by the social engineers to browbeat and oppress the only true minority--whites, which comprise less than 10% of the global population. Every ethnic and racial group that exists, except whites, is entitled to preserve their cultural/religious heritage by keeping "foreigners" out of their countries, yet we are continually inundated with millions of third-world, non-Western immigrants and called "racists" if we object. Something just isn't right with this picture.
Susanp: Something certainly isn't right with this picture. Western Civilization achieved more than probably all other civilizations combined. It invented democracy, the scientific method, produced the greatest artistic tradition (or at the very least as great as any other), the most enlightened legal systems, placed the greatest emphasis on the worth and dignity of the individual and has owned up to its mistakes more than any other civilization. And yet it is the one most pilloried and those who developed it are not allowed to take enormous pride in its numerous achievements lest they be called chauvinists or worse. And then there is the continued refusal to see the monstrosity which is the Islamic world for what it it (like you, I really don't get this one because it's so easy). Yeah, it's a stupid, jealous and hypocritical world all right. Could be worse, though. We could live in a world without beer. Of course, if the Muslims ever take charge then........
"... a world without beer."
Wellington, you slay me.
undaunted: Thanks, pal. Hey, what would life be without a sense of humor (or beer)? Wait, I think I know: the Islamic world.
Is he related to Barak Hussein Obama?
