Because if he copied it, he couldn't possibly agree with or want to implement its contents, right? Right?
I hope the silliness of this defense is seen for what it is.
Belal Khazaal Update: "Man 'a plagiarist, not a terrorist,'" by Margaret Scheikowski for AAP, August 26:
A MAN accused of producing a book promoting jihad terrorist acts copied it "word for word" from a website, a court has been told.IT security expert Samier Dandan gave evidence for the defence today in the trial of Sydney man Belal Saadallah Khazaal.
Mr Dandan told the jury in the New South Wales Supreme Court that every chapter in the 110-page book had been copied verbatim from a website, with only a few paragraphs added.
Mr Khazaal has pleaded not guilty to knowingly making a document connected with assistance in a terrorist act.
He has also denied attempting to incite the commission of a terrorist act.
The book is titled: Provisions on the rules of jihad - short judicial rulings and organisational instructions for fighters and mujahideen against infidels....
let's see, our new kuffar rules of plagiarist is simple: deport him!
Lawyers will think of anything to get their clients off. Khawaja's lawyers argued that he should be set free because he dreamed of becoming of mujahedeen not a terrorist.
So, by this logic, it's okay to download child pornography (or anything else disgusting) from the internet. You don't plan to implement it, you're just copying photos and videos, right?
From article: Mr Khazaal has pleaded not guilty to knowingly making a document connected with assistance in a terrorist act.
Boy is that sentence tortured.
I think that means, 'I didn't know the gun was loaded'. But why were you holding it then, and why did you pull the trigger?
It boils down to intent. The material he was downloading and posting was of dubious nature, valuable only to those bent on some kind of destruction. So what was his intent in sharing that with an interested audience?
The few 'paragraphs' added, that are not published in the article, may give a clue as to his intent.
At any rate the whole thing does not pass the smell test. Send him home to the Ummah in Pakistan or whatever Islamic paradise he came from...
So what? Muhammad plagiarized most of the Quran, too, except the vilest stuff, which he made up himself. It's Sunnah to plagiarize.
Oh, I feel sooo much better now. May I put my head back in the sand?
I clicked on the link and read the whole article.
Here's a choice morsel of information:
"Mr Dandan said he had discovered that every chapter had been copied from articles on the almagdese website.
'"They were verbatim, copied word for word," he said.
"Only a few short paragraphs had been added to the copied material.
"He [the accused] downloaded two chapters of the book, including one on assassination methods, from other internet sites, Mr Dandan said."
Now we know that one chapter of this book was devoted to 'assassination' methods. Furthermore: while our jihadist compiler derived the bulk of his material verbatim from one main source, that particular source seemingly DIDN'T cover 'assassination methods', so it appears he went nosing around on the internet till he found ANOTHER source that DID cover that very important topic, upon which he copied it and edited it in.
Hmmmm.
