Training to kill Iraqi officials. "Hezbollah Training Hit Squads In Iran: U.S.," from NewsMax, August 18 (thanks to Mackie):
WASHINGTON — Iraqi Shiite assassination teams are being trained in at least four locations in Iran by Tehran's elite Quds force and Lebanese Hezbollah and are planning to return to Iraq in the next few months to kill specific Iraqi officials as well as U.S. and Iraqi troops, according to intelligence gleaned from captured militia fighters and other sources in Iraq.A senior U.S. military intelligence officer in Baghdad described the information Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. He spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence.
The officer on Wednesday provided Iraq's national security adviser with several lists of the assassination teams' expected targets. He said the targets include many judges but would not otherwise identify them. Iraq's intelligence service is preparing operations to determine where and when the special group fighters will enter the country and is to provide an assessment to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
The U.S. official acknowledged disclosing the information in an attempt to pressure Iran to suspend the training and prevent the militia fighters from returning to Iraq. The U.S. military also wants the Iraqi government to take steps to protect the targets. "Wanted" posters picturing men believed to be heading the special groups are being posted around Baghdad, the military officer said.
The U.S. also is encouraging the Iraqi government to confront Iran with the information in diplomatic channels, and it wants Iraq to continue pumping money into its own reconstruction. By building stability and Iraqis' confidence in their government, internal support for militia groups should decline, making it more difficult for them to operate....
The longer we wait before dealing with Iran the worse things will be when we jump off. The same people will critisize no matter about diplomatic efforts and sanctions bla bla. This cannot be a pinpoint attack anymore and aircraft requirements are growing as GWB waits. This is like driving an automobile which is leaking transmission fluid and waiting for it to get better...geez.
Iranian killing Iraqi's. this sounds like a job for iraq's police force. sounds like win-win situation in my HO
This post sends an impression that the USA are feeling nervous about whats going on in Iran and who are coming to Iraq to fight. Come on this is not the way. Instead of whimping and telling Iran to stop such things( which they will never do, or in that matter none, will do) they should prepare themselves to fight those elements. Instead of whimping they should have the guts and determination to capture or eliminate them. Afterall what are americans doing, they too are putting more troops from american soil or other friendly nations ofcourse after giving them special training. Come on you are in war and training, fresh influx into the war zone will be there in every war. Instead of behaving like a first grader school boy complaining the teacher over petty issues be a TOUGHIE and take them full on. Afterall this was to follow and will follow as there is no place in this earth where you can go on attacking someone under any pretext and the person who is getting blows will not react back with everything he has. This was ofcourse going to happen. So the Americans were supposed to be more careful in their actions or atleast be determined and tactical in solving this problem by their own, instead of creating such a huge fuss over the matter. Infact it is not the duty of iraqis but the Americans to protect those in the hit list of so called 'hit-squads' being trained, because it was the americans due to which those people are in the line of fire, who are in the hit list of the hit-squad being trained.
Is the United Nations becoming a puppet of Islamic countries and Hizbollah? Well we don't have to look to far when we see what has already happened in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has become a “hostage of Hizballah,” and is anything but fulfilling its mandate.

One of my older brothers was a VietNam army pilot. After that war he was stationed in Iran, and his main duty was as a flight instructor to the Shah's officers. He never talked much about VietNam at all, but as for his time in Iran he said that he didn't think that we should have been teaching Iranians ANYTHING military (even at that early time), and he wanted out of there as badly as he wanted out of VietNam.
What a strange turn of events in the world since then.

How do you figure this? You don't think that the Iraqis and Iranians with their differences in cult ideology would be killing each other anyway?
"...instead of behaving like a first-grader school boy ....take tem full on..."
What? Go in and kick their butts for someone else?
Maybe I'm wrong, but your comments sound like classic "blame the infidel" to me.

is your brother still around? If so: have you introduced him to this site, and to Mr Spencer's "Onward Muslim Soldiers".
He appears to have anticipated Mr Hugh Fitzgerald's entirely sensible idea that NO Infidel country should permit Muslim countries to have anything in the military line beyond rifles and jeeps...if that.
Yes, Dumbledoresarmy, my brother is still around, and you're right - he did seem to see what was coming. At the time, (and some years younger and more immature than he) I didn't catch the drift of his opinions concerning Islamics having war training - but I do see it now. He was voicing a concern that I can certainly understand now. And I can certainly understand why he wasn't glad to be part of their training, but he was a good soldier and did his duty. I remember him talking about the culture of those he was teaching, and how they were backward and uncivilized. Even more ironic is the fact my brother-in-law, and 2 of my newpews have served fighting the same types, many years later, that my brother reluctantly taught.
