One does not need to be a political scientist to understand the seriousness of the details of the Ahmedabad serial blasts case that Gujarat Director General of Police P C Pande, Police Commissioner (Baroda) Rakesh Asthana and Anti-Terrorist Squad head Ashish Bhatia were giving to media persons on Saturday.
The case has been solved and details that are emerging are not just worrying but show the spilt within the Indian society. Within the jungles of Kerala [Images] and Gujarat, training camps are organised where training to plant bombs is being imparted to young Indian Muslims.
There is an inter-state network functioning capable of motivating 20-25-year boys to turn against the nation. The worst fears have come true.
Investigations into the serial blasts have revealed that the terrorists are all Indians and most of them are below 30. None of the arrested youth is a victim of communal riots of 2002.
Mufti Abu Bashir and an employee of Information Technology firm WIPRO, who are absconding, masterminded the blasts. Bashir was arrested in Lucknow on Saturday.

So far, nine people have been arrested in Gujarat. Some of them have taken training in handling arms in jungles near Ernakulam, Kerala. All of them have some connection to the Students Islamic Movement of India. Some may even have connection to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, DGP Pande said.
The network of people, who are planting bombs and taking innocent lives with such regularity and ease within India, is not just restricted to few states. The arms training camp, which took place in Kerala in December 2007, had Muslim youth from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Kerala.
Besides the use of weapons, they were also taught how to escape on motor cycle, how to use human rights institutions if and when they are arrested and how to face police investigations.
All of them were given fake names so that even if they get arrested, police could not trace their accomplices.
SIMI chief Safdar Nagori, who was arrested in March 2008, gave lectures to provoke the youth in the Kerala camp.
Pande told media persons that SIMI has been divided into two. It also has no doubt that the Indian Mujahideen is the new identity of SIMI. The hardliner section led by Nagori was instrumental in planning and executing the blasts. After Nagori's arrest, Mufti and an employee of WIPRO, whose identity police has withheld, came to Ahmedabad and addressed a training camp in hills of Pawagadh near Halol. The WIPRO employee is absconding. [...]
Police has also been able to establish the entire chain of events. The bombs were made in Baroda; Iqbal and Sajid were executors of bomb-making plans.
Police has found out how the explosives came from Madhya Pradesh [Images], how two training camps were organized, how Nagori and Mufti Bashir gave anti-India lectures and spread venom in Muslim youth.
As is so often the case, there is one missing link in this analysis: The role of Islamic texts, teachings, and the example of Muhammad himself in creating a receptive audience for that sort of "venom."

Many muslims feel that India (like Spain, Europe and Africa) is "unfinished business". The jihad has been suspended, but (fueled by oil money) is resuming.
Time for America to revise it's immigration policies. Perhaps the rest of the world as well.
Anyone know how good the Indian intelligence services are? Are Indian Muslims freely in them or is there an unstated policy to minimize or eliminate them from serving? Would be very interested in hearing from someone about this who is knowledgeable about India, perhaps someone from India itself.

SIMI is one part of the puzzle where many entities are involved (Deoband is the ideological sponsor of terror, Pakistan and many other Muslim nations, most notably Saudi Arabia too is involved)
I've just found the reference for the modern Pakistani Muslims dreaming of all the horrible things - including enslavement of Hindus and other non-Muslims - that they would just love to force upon India.

The 'Qazi' referred to is Qazi Hussain Ahmed, chief of Jamaat-i-Islami chief, and President of Islamist alliance Muthahida Majlis Amal (MMA).

Excellent interview. However, one thing I would take issue with that you stated:

I do wish you had dwelt on Jammu more - as you're probably aware, there's that major controversy over the Amarnath pilgrim spot, and whether a Hindu Amarnath board should manage the temple, or the Kashmir (Islamic dominated) government. All the calls for a resolution here call on the people of Jammu to compromise on that requirement, even though opinion polls show that 80% of Indians are on the side of the Jammu people in this. While this is unrelated to the blasts, it's a microcosm of what 'secularism' means in India - unadulterated dhimmitude. The other issue you should have addressed was the open India-Bangladesh border, which is a revolving door for Jihadis.
The only thing I see improving things is if the Jihadis are stupid enough to assassinate Sonia or Rahul (or even Priyanka) Gandhi, or do something similar to the Parliament attack in December 2001, but this time successfully massacring most leaders of most political parties. Should such a thing happen, the 1984 anti-Sikh riots would look mild, and one would see all political parties doing throughout India at least what's been done in Gujarat, and at most, expelling all Mohammedans to Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In my mind, the US has to build up someone like Modi to take over as India's leader regardless of the current realities you are alluding to (which I am aware).
What is happening in Jammu is an undeniable sign of the majority community mobilizing. However, in my mind, a major political party has to back them. Fortunately, BJP is doing that. Therefore, backing BJP is to back indirectly this Jammu movement. That is why I didn't mention it in my interview.
I see Bangladesh as a sidekick to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. I don't see how India can fight or let alone survive without taking on Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. If and when it does that it will deal with Bangladesh.
Any case, there is only limited interview space and I had to hit the main points that I thought were important.

You are right that the US ought to back Modi: however, as you are probably aware, he's on the State Department blacklist of those sponsoring genocide, or some such thing, and he is banned from travelling to the US - an effort backed by the likes of John Dingell (D, MI). The last time a Gujrati NRI group wanted to host him and ran into that problem, they had to arrange a video conference where he could address his would-(not) be hosts and work around that ban.
Again, as you know, India does routinely take on Pakistan, but then does so in a gingerly way so as to not appear 'communal' about its approach, and the same explains why they do nothing about Saudi Arabia: in other words, they are careful not to do this within an Islamic template, thereby making themselves ineffective about adequately combatting this issue. You may see Bangladesh as a sidekick, but I see it as the main source of jihad in India (the other being home grown SIMI outposts in Kanpur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, et al). India's entire border with Pakistan is sealed - you never hear of jihadis pouring into Rajasthan, Gujarat or Punjab. OTOH, the Bangladesh border leaks like a sieve and would make the current US-Mexico border look like the Iron curtain. That's why the demographics of Left Bengal and Assam have been so altered - Assam is thought to have a Mohammedan majority by now. Right now, Bangladesh is the bigger threat to India, not Pakistan.
More important than backing the BJP would be that in the next elections, the BJP wins heavily whatever it contests, while its allies get trounced, so that their abilities to dilute the NDA agenda is severely retarded. One can hope, but no realistic reading of the scenario in India sees that happening.

Another point - backing the BJP is not the same as backing Jammu. Other less Hindutva driven Indians may be non-supportive of the BJP, but won't hesitate to support the people of Jammu. That distinction does have to be drawn.
They're not boys at 20-25. They're men. With that headline, India has lost before it fights thanks to political correctness. It is from two years old upwards that hatred of infidels is cultivated into Muslim minds, and it is time the Indian leadership realised that.

Wellington: Indian Intelligence is quite effective. The problem is the lack of political will to go after the jihadis in a ham fisted way. The jihadis have also learnt how to manipulate the human rights industry to their advantage. Mixed with a weak-willed political class, the jihadis have a winning combination.
Sad to say that Hindus are very lethargic and have not learnt anything from the history of barbaric Islamic rule. Slowly, albeit too slowly for my taste, that is changing. The Hindu retaliation in Gujarat was just an eruption of mass fury when Muslim goons set fire to a train and roasted alive 60 Hindu men, women, and children. Hindu agitation in Jammu against Kashmiri Muslims is another example of this (slow) awakening. As an Indian, I just keep hoping that a sufficiently large number of Hindus will finally wake up from their slumber and show the jihadis who is the boss.
IndianTiger: Thank you for your response. That lack of political will you mentioned is not exclusive to India by any means. You see it in one Western country after another from the elites who are too ignorant or too afraid or both to call out Islam for what it is, though I believe the common folk of many Western nations are thankfully beginning to grasp the many invidious aspects of the Islamic faith. And it doesn't surprise me that Indian Intelligence would be very good. The Indian military traditionally has been. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, its Air Force actually outperformed the US Air Force in military games in the Indian Ocean area a few years ago. I wish India well in the upcoming years and, as an American, can only welcome closer and closer ties to India. After all, the Hindu and Judeo-Christian worlds have one very big thing in common------a common enemy called Islam. Again, thanks for your reply.
