But peacefully! "Indonesian priest kidnapped, severely beaten," by Mathias Hariyadi in AsiaNews, August 12 (thanks to Winds of Jihad):
Jakarta (AsiaNews) - Last night, Fr Benny Susetyo, secretary of the interreligious commission of the Indonesian bishops' conference, was kidnapped and severely beaten. At least three people forcibly removed him from his home in Bintaro, in southern Jakarta, took away his cell phone, and beat him.He is now recovering at Pondok Indah hospital in Jakarta, where he has been visited by other human rights activists, like Solahudin Wahid, a promoter of interreligious dialogue and the younger brother of former president Abdurrahman Wahid.
The police of Kebayoran Lama say that "we have not conducted any investigation, as there has not been any crime reported to us". It is the first time in a long time that a Catholic priest has been kidnapped and beaten.
Fr Susetyo is also an active member of the Alliance for Nation and Religious Freedom, a group disliked by radical Muslims for its position on the problem of the Ahmadiyya (an Islamic minority group often persecuted by other Muslims)....
the guys who did this aren't really muslims. cause he ain't dead.

.....................................
This story has had time to be picked up by Asia News, and yet the local police, supposedly, have not heard anything about it.
You might think that after being queried--one would assume--by a reporter might be a sign that they might want to look into things.
Of course, I'm being sarcastic. One of the most horrifying aspects of Muslim violence against non-Muslims in Muslim-majority states is that the police--either out of sympathy for the assailants, or fear of Muslim reactions, often does nothing at all. Sometimes it is worse than that, and non-Muslim victims are actually further victimized--this time officially--for having the temerity to report crimes committed against them.
In Islam, being an unbeliever is a crime.

That's because Indonesia is so moderate!
Didn't Ken Pollack just tell us how Indonesia proves that Islam is moderate? It seems that many Indonesians are forgetting that their role is to behave in a civilized fashion so that apologists can says that Islam doesn't have to be violent.
It is also funny that one country, Indonesia--which isn't "moderate" or "tolerant"--is used as proof that everything being done throughout dozens of other countries in the name of Islam really has nothing to do with Islam.
It seems a lot of people in Indonesia these days misunderstand their religion too.
