Jihadists kill aid workers in Afghanistan

23 killed so far this year. "Brutal Taliban Killings Anger Aid Community," by Alison Raphael for OneWorld, August 15:

WASHINGTON, Aug 15 (OneWorld) - The fatal ambush of four humanitarian aid workers in Afghanistan Wednesday has provoked a sharp response from the international aid community, including strong condemnation of the Taliban.

The deaths of Canadians Jackie Kirk and Shirley Case, American Nicole Dial, and their Afghan driver Mohammad Aimal brought the total death toll of aid workers in Afghanistan to 23 for this year, eight more than died in all of 2007, UNICEF pointed out in a letter of condolence.

The three women, all with long experience in aid delivery in global hot-spots, were on their way back to Kabul from Paktia Province, where they had been planning a project to assist children with disabilities.

The four worked for the New York-based International Rescue Committee (IRC), which yesterday announced the suspension of its activities in Afghanistan, after 20 years of uninterrupted work in the country, while it "evaluates next steps."

A Taliban spokesman called news agencies to take credit for the attack, claiming: "We don't value their aid projects."

Of course. Islamic purity trumps national development.

So..how does the Taliban help disabled children....by providing more disabled children so they won't be lonely..Many of the children are disabled by disease ( the aid workers would bring medicines and care that the Taliban refuse)...Many more children are disabled by the explosives used by the Taliban who run around blowing up buses, schools, and gatherings of children ..as in when they attended a school play..

If anything, the children one day may realize the Taliban is nothing but evil...an evil that quotes from the Qur'an...a Muslim child could reason that Allah hates Muslims...and be right.

Barbarians. Words cannot properly describe Islamic barbaric moral codes. I presume these killers were operating within the confines of Islamic moral codes since they all claim to be members of the "religion of peace".

A Taliban spokesman called news agencies to take credit for the attack, claiming: "We don't value their aid projects."

The first reaction is: bring our people home.
Why should we waste such talent where it is not wanted? There are many other places where they could do just as much good and be better received.

The second reaction is: and watch how ten or fifteen years from now, we'll all be blamed for "abandoning" Afghanistan and its people to these barbarians. We'll hear how the Taliban might not have wanted us there but the people did and we turned our backs on them, "forcing" them to align with terrorists.

It's time for the people to stand up to the Taliban. If they won't, there's nothing we can do for them. Silence or inaction on their part means they have effectively sided with the Taliban.

"Barbarians." --Spot on

That's spot on, Spot on!

Those aid workers were probably not armed, its about time they arm themselves and bring along "armed guards. why do these aid workers think they are valued by the taliban and offered "protection" because they are doing God's work. A Golden Rule, God helps those who help themselves.

Aid work in Afghanistan should have been suspended when the first aid workers were massacred. Twenty three this year so far! Fifteen in 2007!

PMK is right, there are many other places aid workers are needed, even in our own countries. Why send these women to be slaughtered in that barren hellhole, where the people they are helping won't stand up to the Taliban? Are the Afghani people so thick and stupid they can't see who their real enemy is?

Are the Afghani people so thick and stupid they can't see who their real enemy is?

maybe they don't care. they support the taliban and whatever they do. we need to take those aid worker out of there.

And guess who recognized Taleban? Yes, Bush's allies in the phony "war-on-terror", Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Same Paistan that is funded by Bush, is funding Taleban. Karzai has placed the blame of Taleban and terror on Pakistan. Yet, Bush keeps sending more and more American arms and tax-dollars to those involved in 9/11, Pakistan. Perhaps at the orders of other culprits ofg 9/11, his wahhabbi masters in Riyadh, who, after attacking USA on 9/11, mysteriously ended up as "ally" in "war-on-terror". But, given the Bush family corruption, this is not surprising. Bush family needs Americans merely for votes, after which, American tax-dollars, for international terrorists like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, while American blood and lives are for Bush's wars launched on lies. Vincent Bugliosi has laid a water-tight legal case against POTUS/commander-in-chief : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NctHEFUezjk

Americans get confused when Bush calls Saudi Arabia as "our friends & allies". Americans cannot see that Saudi Arabia is "Bush-family friends and allies" (check out Arbusto, Harken Energy and Salem Bin-Laden). In any case, Bush used American votes funding his terrorist family and friends, with American tax-dollars, American blood and lives. Finally, thanks to Bush and his State Dept., who gave a pass to Saudi Arabia for 9/11, American families of 9/11, lost a law-suit against Saudi Arabia, listed here: http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/022220.php#comments
Ofcourse, Repubs see this as an attack on their Repub president. But as Bugliosi notes, "All Americans, Republican or Democrat, should be outraged". Even Wafa Sultan has noted that Bush, who, on one hand fights a multi-billion-dollar "war-on-terror", on the other hand, empowers terrorists: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52962
If Americans care for the victims of 9/11, for the armed forces of Ameirca, then the right thing, is to impeach their corrupt POTUS/commander-in-chief, responsible for both (and we have not discussed selling out USA to his "Amigos").

I pretty much agree with the above comments. But please remember that it is easy for us to talk, living in the West, protected by police, courts, and other institutions, relatively secure from threats. Yet even here Islamic threats and intimidation are enough to silence much of our leadership, and to bring attempts to censor critics like radio programs and publishers. If we are so timid in the face of the threats against us, how can we expect the Afghans to be braver in the face of much greater threats? I'm speaking, of course, of those Afghans who actually do oppose the Taliban.

Evil is what evil does.

It is very difficult to attack Saudies without creating an unprecedented turmoil into the global economy. Our tax $ is tied very strongly to the Saudi Petro dollar. The complete world economy will collapse should we attack Saudies.

Saudies have vested interest in Pakiland because their I-bomb was mostly funded with the petro $ by Saudies. Talibananas are funded by Pakiland and Saudies because they are the most backward form of Islamists and they pose zero threat to Pakiland or any other Islamic Republic. If Talibananas were in power, it gives Pakiland a better strategic depth against India. Pakies are Indophobic like nothing else in the World.

Normally, Talibananas, Pakiland and Saudies would have been spiraling dust in the troposphere if we weren’t so energy hungry. Bush is trying to do what we all want without shaking the boat. He is using Pakistanies as much as he possibly can against the Talibananas, we all know it is very frustrating. There aint much anybody else could have done it better, because it is all a big banana boat with lots of slippery skins that nobody dares to rock.

This is certainly right. I feel the same way. But these well intentioned Christians have minds that cannot go there. In their minds, they are helping God's children. What we see here is a raw confrontation of the ideology of two different religions. One being the real religion of peace and mercy, trying to do good works. The other, an evil religious cult, with a 1400 year history of merciless killing.

Why are female aid workers allowed in Afghanistan in the first place? Why any aid workers at all?
Their aid is taken but not appreciated. Let the Saudi's provide humanitarian aid, they can add that to the aid they already give the Taliban...

ebonystone,

If the people of Afghanistan don't care enough about their own country (it's their country, not ours) to fight for it then why should anyone else?
The Northern Alliance was willing to put itself on the line against the Taliban. No one else is?

Patrick Henry rings true:

Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?

If people answer "YES!" then there is nothing that anyone can do for them. They'll go with the strong horse, no matter who it is. Early on, they went with the US and the NA. Now they're swinging back to the Taliban.

The Taliban have an edge the Russians and the Americans don't have. They're Muslims. That goes a long way. 'Better a Muslim tyrant than a Muslim democrat who works with infidels' seems to be the rule of thumb in the Muslim world. The Muslim who is smiled upon by the West is automatically suspect. Absent overwhelming force, the non-Muslim doesn't have a chance.

I never implied that anyone else should be doing the Afghans' fighting for them. I merely noted that, with so many in the West backing down in the face of intimidation, it was perhaps unreasonable to expect moderate Afghans (if any exist) to do more in the face of much greater intimidation.

It's so hard to have sympathy for the Afghans.

Fighting soldiers is one thing. Killing aid workers is...Well, maybe God can forgive this, but I'm not sure I can.

The only charity Muslims seem to appreciate or desire, is money. The only charity that will survive Muslims, is money.

Food is stolen. Materials and toys are destroyed. Attempts to improve their lives and health are rebuffed.

I say leave them to their own devices. Let the Taliban take care of them. We owe them nothing.

They hate Western nations, anyway. What's a little more hatred poured over us?

These aid workers were brave, self-sacrificing, and dedicated. However, it's just illogical to send more of their like in to die, at the same hands.

Charity begins at home.

Let the Muslim countries pay and send their own idealistic, charity giving folks in to help those miserable savages. What do we owe them?

Let the Afghanis fend for themselves.

They've made it quite clear they don't want us there and that there is little we can do for a society steeped in Islam.

We will always infidels in their eyes.

What is conspicuosly absent from the news report (which I did read in its entirety) is the manner of death these poor women and their driver suffered.

It is very unusual for that information to be omitted from any news report of a murder.

I can only speculate that the media who covered this event do not want us to know, for whatever reasons, how these folks were killed.

I'm interested to see if that information will be forthcoming, or will we be left without it. The lack of complete reporting serves to sanitize and filter the horror of the murders.

The Muslim "charities" should be giving the aid. Of course they seem to dole out money for arms instead.

Christians in a Muslim country giving aid just isn't going to work. We see how they're treated and we're surprised?? Let's not forget that Christians are infidels, and will be treated as such.

It's a nice Christian gesture, but their lives are worth more elsewhere and at least appreciated.

I don't mean any disrespect toward the deceased aid workers or their families. But anybody working as an aid worker in these regions is either very naive or has suicidal tendencies.

The complete story also notes:

The work the women were doing may have singled them out as a target. The Taliban "do not simply fail to value education: they deliberately target it," according to Vernon Munoz Villalobos, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to education.

"their attacks on schools, teachers, and others working on education are systematic, not random. They are part of a deliberate attack on human rights, on equality for women, and on any attempt to control their own destiny," Villalobos continued.

Given the Islamic mindset, if Islam is to dominate, shari'a is to be imposed, and the jihad imperative realized, then "human rights," equality of women," and "any attempt to control their own destiny" is shirk and unbelief, and thus, must be rooted out and destroyed.

Welcome to the Islamic Golden Age.

a while back as a disabled person (i have been in a wheel chair for 6 years)i asked a muslim coworker from the land of the taliban and he told me that amoung thugs like the taliban aparently it is considered to be the will of allha if a adult or child is disabled or becomes disabled and muslims have no right to interfer with the punishment being meeted out to there family so
The three women, all with long experience in aid delivery in global hot-spots, were on their way back to Kabul from Paktia Province, where they had been planning a project to assist children with disabilities. would be a prime target for the taliban trugs and fanatics because there actions would be a ofence to allha because odf it interfering with his will (sic)

There Is No "Neutrality" In Islam.

I went to this news site to see what newspapers reported this incident. Only one, and you will never guess which one it is.

Got to the site below and scroll down ten stories to
the one about the aid workers...suprise...

http://www.infopig.com/keywords/afghanistan.html

"Those aid workers were probably not armed, its about time they arm themselves" -

Incredibly naive statement. If the aid workers armed themselves they would no longer be aid workers as defined by the US and the UN, they would be combatants. As such, they would be open targets to both sides - depending on whom they are aiding. Not to mention that nuns packing heat would surely cause some consternation in the Vatican.

Maybe they should change their name to UNJizya and distribute shirts that read "Jizya Workers".
Maybe that would bring their acceptance.

"Helping" without rational self-defense is suicidal.

"Helping" to strengthen a "religious" group who aims to subjugate and annihilate all infidels is suicide.

Help them change to another belief system, not just be be stronger.

duh_swami,

Wow! That's walking out of a room, only to find yourself entering it! Tres X-Files!

l dont think it is naive to be logical when dealing in a war torn country, you can at least get armed guards, and l would be packing a good pistol for personal protection. when is bieng realistic naive? screw the UN!

I think the Taliban now is basically a bunch of bullies with kaslashnikovs, RPGs and Korans which have attracted most of Afhgan's psychopaths for joy killing.

Alert says, "If Americans care for the victims of 9/11, for the armed forces of Ameirca, then the right thing, is to impeach their corrupt POTUS/commander-in-chief, responsible for both (and we have not discussed selling out USA to his "Amigos")."

RUBBISH! I'm sick of hearing this paranoid nonsense. Though I don't agree with everything that President Bush does, I'm thankful that such a patriot was in office when he was. What do you have to say about the American Left, who has done all they can to prevent energy independence. Who are their "Amigos", pray tell?

GET A REFILL!

The American Left is not in the most powerful office in the world. But let's say American Left is somehow guilty as well. That does not absolve POTUS/commander-in-chief from siding with the enemy, then masking the enemy as "ally" in the phony "war-on-terror". Finally, American Left did not attack America on 9/11. Doesn't seem like you know your POTUS/commander-in-chief well enough as Wafa Sulta: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52962
Or vincent Bugloisi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf8jJ6a7MF8

But if it makes you happy, Bush, inspite of spilling American blood and wasting precious American lives, should be let to get away. As they say: Where ignorance is a bliss...

This happened because the Taliban are a bunch of misogynistic savages who prey on the unarmed and defenceless. Scum like that hate education and moreso, they hate educated women. God helps those who help themselves and that should be a lesson for the Afghans. Of course, Islamic societies aren't grateful for any help given to them by infidels, so it is best to let them stew in their own juice and leave them at the mercy of the worlds killer diseases. And there are more deserving places omn the planet where their help will be warmly received, so those are the places we should concentrate on, and leave muslims to their devil God.

I'm sorry but, you just can't help these people. Few appreciate it in these Islamic countries, so humanitarian workers need to pack up and take their assistance elsewhere where they will be appreciated and they do not have to worry about safety.

"Finally, American Left did not attack America on 9/11."

Posted by: Alert

Quite right, if by "9/11" one means the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. But in a more general sense, the American Left has been attacking America virtually every day for the last 40 years or so.

We are completely wasting our blood, time, and money, trying to help these Muslim savages. We should get all non Muslims out of Afganistan and warn them that the next time they cause ANYONE outside of Afganistan any trouble, nuke them. (They would probably spend their time killing each other and save us the problem of doing it for them.)

The three women, all with long experience in aid delivery in global hot-spots, were on their way back to Kabul from Paktia Province, where they had been planning a project to assist children with disabilities.
................................

Yes, I read about this hideous story. Let it sink in--the Taliban murdered women with a charitable organization there to help *disabled children*. It just doesn't get any lower than that.

Sorry to hear about your disability, Islam's Not For Me. Your co-worker is right--Islam is especially savage in its attitudes to the disabled.

There was a horrible story a few years ago about a foreign worker in Saudi Arabia (I think she was from the Phillipines) who was horribly abused by her employers before finally being able to escape.

She had been hired to take care of a disabled boy, Osama, by a wealthy family. What brought on the abuse? She was too sympathetic to this young man, and was seen by a family member giving him a (very chaste) kiss. The entire family began berating her, claiming she was perverse for caring about this "cripple". The woman only stayed as long as she did because she was terribly worried about what would happen to Osama were she to try to leave. Finally, though, the abuse escalated to brutal beatings, and she knew she had to get out.

Conditions for the handicapped in Muslim countries are particularly appalling--it goes well beyond the poverty of these countries. It's part of the brutal Islamic ideology.

gravenimage, islamsnotforme -

looks as though we have just come across yet another parallel between Islam and Nazism: lack of compassion or even active cruelty toward the disabled.

Only perceptible distinction: Nazism simply euthanased the crippled and feeble-minded; Islam seems to prefer to stand back, with paralysing indifference or even complacency, and watch them suffer.

Nazism killed them quickly; Islam lets them die by themselves, of emotional and physical neglect, slowly. Swift sarcastically summed up the latter approach, 300 years ago: "thou shalt not kill... but needst not strive/ officiously to keep alive".

Humaetarian Aid workers should not go to Afghanistan unless they are willing to become Humanetarian Suicide Workers. Only a stupid would take a sucide mission to help terrorists. If they were helping Muslims they were helping terrorists - in Afghanistan there is no diference between these two groups.
