Nissan caves to Saudi threats

Thereby further convincing Muslims around the world that, yes, your protests and complaints for special treatment -- provided they are loud and angry enough -- will always be honored. Still, Nissan, the oil-rich sheikhs await apologies; and now that you've conceded this much, prepare to go all the way, in good dhimmi fashion. "Nissan orders Israeli ally to pull commercial," from Japan Times, August 9:

JERUSALEM (Kyodo) Nissan Motor Co. has ordered its Israeli business ally to immediately stop airing a television commercial depicting Arab oil barons angered at the high fuel efficiency of a Nissan car, officials of the automaker said Thursday.

"The commercial was produced by a local automobile distributor based on its own judgment, and Nissan Motor has nothing to do with the commercial," a Nissan spokesman in Japan said.

The commercial depicts wealthy Arab oil barons becoming so enraged at a fuel-efficient Nissan Tiida that one of them kicks the car, bangs on the hood and windshield and heaps abuse on the vehicle.

"Nissan Motor has nothing to do with the commercial."

Perhaps the commercial has to do with Toyota and Honda, which make better cars.

Since Renault owns a large chunk of Nissan, I wonder how much, if any, of this decision was due to French pressure.
Also I see that Nissan is coming out with an electric car in 2010. Will the Arabs insist thay cancel that?

Ahhhh, it was fun while it lasted. Of course, new material now since the car commercial had already outlived it's satirical usefulness. Islam, finding offense everywhere since the 7th Century. I wonder if the car was telling ol' Mo where the joooos where hiding in the commercial? If rocks and trees can rat out the jooos, why not cars? That's the real reason. Because the car was telling the muslim where the jooos were hiding, it was offensive for the Israeli's to use it in a commercial.

More ominous still is the clamping down on our ability to make fun of 'certain' arrogant and wealthy a-holes. Consider that the satirical commercial would have made no sense with poor or ordinary Arabs - it is their vulgarity and immense unearned wealth that 'endears' the Saudi Sheikhs to us. We don't hate you because you're Muslims we hate you because you are vile, worthless, arrogant, barbaric S.O.B.s with solid gold sinks.

Good dhimmi...

Muslim comedy in some of the most unlikely of places. They are funny when serious, and not so funny when it's intentional. I laugh at silly Muslims, and Islam is a joke, too.

Nissan, I am so disappointed :-(

I suddenly feel that I cannot buy Nissan cars.................and Muslim oil.

When can I buy a multi-fuel vehicle?

Major automakers make and sell them in Brazil.

Why can't buy one here?

Why can't Brazil import alcohol fuel in the US without a tariff?

Fee, Fi, Foo, Fumi, I smell the work of a dhimmi.

How much longer before we are heaped abuse upon?
We, as in the the Western world.

haramfidel:

Muslims know we'll take it, so they'll just keep dishing it out. No reason not to. We in the West are the only ones who can change it.

I've owned two Nissan small pickups, in my life. Each of them was stronger than the company seems to be.

Um, Japan is not "in the western world". Jihad and Islamic oppression is not, nor ever was, strictly a western problem.

And anyway, the commercial has been seen and now talked about, so regardless of it being pulled the Arabs were still made to look like the fools they are.

To be fair, if someone made a Nissan commercial that was abusive towards Christians or Jews and there were complaints and demands for apologies, Nissan would back down. I don't think every time someone backs down from Muslim threats that means they are being coward dhimmis. Most of the time, sure. But not every time. There are a lot of Muslims in the world and Nissan wouldn't want to lose business with them any more than they would want to lose business with a billion Christians.

Madame Vengier-
Use your head. This is NOT making fun of 'Muslims' - you are playing THEIR game. This is making fun of obscenely rich Saudi oil sheikhs. God knows there are millions of Muslims who despise them too and wish them dead.

The last time I saw the commercial aired was about 2 weeks ago, about when it came out. But then we don't have cable so maybe I've missed it on the other Israeli channels since.

Anyway, I said when I saw it that it's going to be pulled because it's simply insulting to Arabs (not Muslims) and Nissan does plenty of business in Arab countries.

I don't think this one's a big deal. It's not good business sense to insult a respectable share of one's own customer base.

Nissan Motor has nothing to do with the commercial
Legally, that's true. The commercial was ordered by the local Israel Nissan importer, which is a totally independent company from Nissan. Nissan itself would not have been involved in knowing about, let alone approving, the local advertising scheme.

Correction: My next vehicle will probably NOT be a Nissan (sigh).

Sigh.

The Japanese can be so disappointing.

At least they're sort of holding the line against N Korea.

Like I've always said "buy American!"

When I do, I'll make sure that my "American" vehicle doesn't include Nissan components.

(I'm working on a new horn system for Nissan right now; when you "honk" the horn it goes "MMooooo!" on some models or "Bahhhhhh!" on others.

On the upgraded models you can select between or alternate between the two horn sounds. Sorry, the patent is pending!)

You should also be able to buy Nissans in any color you want as long as its islamic-green!

Bahhhh!

The oldest 'cliche',"Those who forget History, are condemned to REPEAT It" RINGS TRUE( once again) in current times.
NOBODY said NO to Hitler, NOBODY says no to Iran in a REAL Way, and NOBODY, including today's Japanese, say no to the ISLAMONAZIS.

@ poetcomic1

Get ahold of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't dare tell me I'm "playing their game". I'm one of the biggest anti-Islam, anti-jihad, anti-dhimmitude, pro-tell-it-like-it-is people who comments at Spencer's blog, so don't tell me that crap that I'm playing their game.

And don't ever tell me to "use [my] head". You're barking up the wrong tree, fella.

Yes, Nissan caved to the Saudi cavemen. I was waiting for it. Money talks.

1:0 to the Jihad.

One day in the not so near future,
the saudis will return to their caves,
dark caves of poverty
and ruinous ignorance
from whence they came.
And the hot desert sands
will cover their gaudy pleasure palaces
and phallic glass and steel monstrosities,
and their western toys will rust and corrode
for lack of knowledge and cultural care.

Beware arabia, your evil and arrogance
take you down a path of pain and despair.
For when Mecca is gone and Medina is gone,
as the sands of time grind slowly but fine,
how then will mohammed's god, allah, fare?

Theses Arab "Oil Barons" complained and had the commercial shut down b/c they felt offended as being portrayed as so. They dont want the international community thinking they're all about profits here.

So, while they succeded in having the commercial shut down I hope everyone realizes that this commercial had another effect on the "Oil Barons". Even though this commerical was aired by a Nissan dealership in Israel (giving the tensions between them and the muslim world), the Arabs should know that the international community thats been paying them billions of dollars for their oil is now swithcing to more fuel-saving, less-oil consuming cars. Another way of saying this is REDUCING and eventually ELMININATING our dependece on foreign oil. This will hurt them far more than that commercial.

Nissan's caving in was predictable.

Each of these appeasements leads to more emboldening on the part of the Wahhabists and other Moslems.

What's regrettable is that it's taken this long. Americans were spurred by only one thing: economic hardship. 9/11 didn't bring this on. The attacks in London and Madrid didn't either. Not until we were hit in the pocketbook did people notice where their money was going.
The SUV phenomenon was one I never understood, even when oil was $10 a barrel.

CHOI had it right: those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. We forgot the oil shocks of the 1970s. The American automobile industry's failure to respond is one reason I can no longer buy American. Give me fuel economy. American cars don't fill the bill. Hybrids cost too much. For that matter, so do SUVs.

Nissan has manufacturing plants in the US. Boycotts will hurt American workers.

A little OT but...

I would not give you a plugged nickel for all of Nissan.

I had a run in with the Nissan Acceptance Corp that lasted for months, until I threatened to sue them for harassment, and told them our conversations were being recorded.

I owed them nothing, and had never owed them anything. They were seeking another person for back payments or repossession. Somehow they got my phone number and called daily, as late as ten pm.
I made it clear that I was not in debt to them, it was not my car they were looking for, that I had no idea of the where abouts of this other person.
They did not believe this, and even pumped my children for info if they answered the phone.
I instructed them to stop calling at least thirty times. Only threatening them with a lawsuit and recordings made them stop. No one wanted to be recorded telling me that they would call every day until I gave them information...that I did not have...

So, as far as I am concerned, the Saudi's can have Nissan...I won't miss it a bit...

BTW...want to stop harassing bill collectors? Tell them that their conversation is being recorded for data gathering and training purposes.

That really throws them off...LOL

Jewdog I agree - it's about money - it speaks many languages.

Way back in October 2001 Clear Channel Radio must have caved like Nissan or their sales rep caved. America's first song of inspiration after 9/11/01 had to have insulted another ahab the arab in the form of at least one goateed sheikh.

To just that one offended US radio listener sheikh, go to snopes! This is my old archived thread at Daily Snopes. Condensing links is not one of my pc skills.

http://msgboard.snopes.com/message/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/75/t/001080/p/1.html

The makers of the new car commercial had them all goatee free. The Dhimmis tried not be be offensive with the clean shaven actors.

Great poetry poetess!! Spot on! Great comments on caving too everyone! Go China go, buy the Nissans and sharpen your swords!

MK

Just goes to show that the muslims have absolutely no sense of humor. I'm guessing Nissan has no backbone as well.
