An update on this story. "Philippines peace deal with Muslim rebels collapses," by Al Jacinto for the Los Angeles Times, August 22:
ZAMBOANGA CITY, PHILIPPINES -- A tentative peace deal that came close to resolving decades of conflict between the Philippine military and Muslim insurgents collapsed Thursday after days of fierce fighting and an alleged massacre.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's government said it had canceled a landmark agreement reached recently with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the country's largest Islamist rebel group.
"The cancellation of the memorandum of agreement is a painful step in our collective effort to come to an agreement with the MILF," said a statement from Lorelei Fajardo, an Arroyo spokesman.
The rebels quickly insisted that the agreement was a "done deal."
The deal was designed to provide an expanded autonomous homeland for about 4 million Muslims in the southern Philippines.
The Philippine Supreme Court on Aug. 4 issued a temporary restraining order against the formal signing of the accord after politicians and lawmakers filed a petition to block the deal.
More fighting quickly followed as rebels seized several Christian villages in an area slated to become part of the expanded homeland.
The rebels withdrew, only to launch a new assault, which authorities said led to the massacre Monday of dozens of civilians, as well as looting and burning.
Arroyo's government, which has been negotiating with the MILF since 2001 to end almost four decades of fighting, "will seek a new agreement within the boundaries of law set within the constitution," Fajardo said. "Furthermore, the president will not allow adventurism by MILF forces to pressure the government to sign any agreement, even if it is for peace."
Mohagher Iqbal, chief MILF peace negotiator, rejected the president's announcement that she was scrapping the agreement. Iqbal said the guerrillas would not renegotiate the accord....
Of course, so what if there IS a "peace" agreement.
It is always temporary with those Moohammy nuts.
They will simply wait for the next chance to attack, when they are in a better position.
Good.
Now, Philippines Government - don't make any more agreements with ANY Muslim entity, since you have discovered, painfully, that such agreements are written on toilet paper in disappearing ink.
Let them know that you have had enough of their nonsense, and that ALL Muslim aggression, criminal activity, etc., will be met with overwhelming force, repeated as often as necessary until such activity ceases altogether. Target the mosques, first: flatten them. If they attack churches in response; just flatten *more* mosques till they get the idea.
Note well: it appears from the report that the Muslims, whilst feeling perfectly entitled to break an agreement with non-Muslims anytime they feel like doing so, are deeply offended when kafir exercise the right to do likewise in response to Muslim treachery and blatant aggression. Ignore their howls of outrage. The double standard by which they live is despicable: they behave as amoral supremacists, yet *demand* to be loved and respected by those whom they despise and abuse.
I shall re-post here, for the benefit of Filipino visitors in particular, who might want to translate it into Tagalog and other languages and circulate it as widely as possible, a lapidary paragraph by Hugh Fitzgerald, summarising a core aspect of Muslim conduct toward non-Muslims (with whom Muslims are, considered as a gestalt, permanently at war, view Total World Domination).
It was originally written for the Middle East front of the Third Jihad, but a trifling re-wording of the opening paragraph is all that is necessary to apply it to the Philippines front.
"Neither the Philippines government itself, nor many in the outside world, seem willing to comprehend that there is no solution to the Jihad.
"There is only the matter of remaining overwhelmingly -- and perceptively -- more powerful, capable of wreaking great damage on those who would attack.
"No treaty with Infidel states, and the Philippines is such a state, can conceivably be permanently honored by a Muslim signatory.
"Pacta sunt servanda is a Western idea.
"In the Muslim world, treaties – if made with Infidels - are not to be obeyed, but to be violated, as soon as the Muslim side feels itself strong enough to press its advantage.
"The model for all time -- see Majid Khadduri, The Law of War and Peace in Islam -- is Muhammad's Treaty with the Meccans in 628 A.D, the Treaty of Hudaybiyya." –
- Hugh Fitzgerald, 15.8.2006.
I will add that there is a brief and lucid exposition of the legendary Treaty of Hudaybiyya and its archetypal meaning for Muslims, in Mr Robert Spencer's "The Truth About Muhammad", pages 136-139.
And to inspire Filipino non-Muslim soldiers, citizens, city mayors, generals and political leaders, here - yet again, I have posted this text often before, but it bears learning by heart - are words of fire and steel from Sir Winston Churchill, describing the response of the British Empire to a Muslim Jihad in the Sudan in the late 19th century:
"No terms but fight or death were offered. No reparation or apology could be made. . . The red light of retribution played on the bayonets and the lances, and civilization—elsewhere sympathetic, merciful, tolerant, ready to discuss or to argue, eager to avoid violence, to submit to law, to effect a compromise—here advanced with an expression of inexorable sternness, and rejecting all other courses, offered only the arbitration of the sword." Sir Winston Churchill - The River Wars (1899 edition).
Perhaps these words, also, as a rallying-cry for the self-defence of Filipino non-Muslims, could be translated into Tagalog and circulated on the Filipino blogosphere.
Massacres, terrorising, ethnic cleansing, looting, burning the homes of non-muslims. Some horrific homeland the MILF are dreaming of.
A tentative peace deal that came close to resolving decades of conflict between the Philippine military and Muslim insurgents
...................................
No, this deal did not "come close to resolving" conflict between the Infidel government of the Phillipines and Muslim insurgents, in the same way that Oslo did not "come close to resolving" conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, and for the same reasons.
...and then I start to wonder, after yet another Muslim majority, or at least strongly represented, area demands an autonomous region to govern for itself, how long it will be before we face the same in Dearbornistan or one of the other regions in the U.S. that is rapidly raising its Muslim population. Heavy sigh.
Fear not. The Philippino authorities will cave to the demands of the muslims. Why? What else can they do? Strip the muslims of their citizenship and deport them? Unthinkable!
This is how The Jihad has functioned and spread Islam through violent muslims for 1,400 years. It works and will keep working until:
Allah is not God
Mohammed was not a good man
Islam is not a religion
Muslims are not citizens
Coeurmaeghan:
The answer is simple: inevitably. That is why we must do what our ancestors have done for more than 13 centuries: contain Islam and its twin doctrines of jihad and dhimmitude with whatever force is necessary to the most inhospitable regions on the planet and perpetually run around its edges with cannons.
