Philippines: MILF says "peace process in tatters"

A female Muslim displays her placard calling for peace as she shouts "Allah is Great" after the regular Friday prayer in Manila

They must have recently gotten stronger, more confident that they can implement the "Medinan" phase of Islam -- jihad -- as opposed to the Meccan, "live and let live." A MILF update. "Philippines, Muslim Rebels Peace Deal in Jeopardy," by Nancy-Amelia Collins, for Voice of America, August 21:

The Philippine government says it will review a peace agreement with Muslim rebels after rogue commanders from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front attacked several villages in the southern Philippines, killing dozens of people.[...]

The rebel group and the government have been negotiating on and off since 1997 on ways to give Muslims more self rule in the south, including the expansion of an already existing Muslim homeland that would give the group greater economic and political powers.

MILF blames government for breakdown of peace talks

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front's chief peace negotiator, Mohaqher Iqbal, told VOA the peace process was in "tatters."

"This breakdown of the peace process is not caused by the MILF. We have been very consistent, we have been very observing the cease-fire. But, in spite of all of this, the government does not honor its commitments," he said. "It's in tatters, it's in tatters. I don't know how to pick up the pieces."

Peace*

* or else.

It's never the fault of the Muslims.

If they want peace, they need to shuffle back to their farms and obey the law of the Phillipines and STFU.

Period.

A typical example, how Muslims want to take over land to spread Islam. It's always a dispute over land, whether it be Israel or India, or in this case the Philippines. Regardless of what they want or don't want, there is never going to be true peace among the Muslim population.

They better STFU and F#@King apologize. I want a full apology from all the Islamic nations for the terrorist attacks that have occurred in the past and all the crimes against humanity committed by Islam. Moreover, I want guarantee that in the future there will be no Islamic terrorists attacks on non Muslims and that Sharia Law is banned and outlawed. I want all apology for those outrageous and inflammatory and false messages and hate protests throughout the world against non Muslims and non Islamic countries. I want all Mosques to be closed or fully monitored by non Muslims, in non Islamic countries. I want all history books to tell the truth about the Maniac Mohammad and the barbarity of Islam and crimes committed by Islam against civilization and free peoples.

We have been very consistent. . .
....................................

It's true--MILF has been very consistant. Claim you are just fighting for your rights against an unfair government; attack local non-Muslims, killing or driving them out if possible; demand more autonomy for your now "Muslim-majority" area--meaning the institution of Shari'ah, ask for a cease-fire or "peace process" if you want to regroup, feel free to violate the cease-fire whenever it is advantageous to do so; claim it is the Infidels who have somehow invalidated the peace agreement; if given an inch, take a mile.

Yeah, they've been pretty consistent, allright. We see this same scenario, in its various stages, being played out in Israel and the "Palestinian territories", Nigeria, India, Thailand, Kosovo and Bosnia, France, the UK, on and on and on. . .

twoedgesword: interesting site you've got there.

Any idea why these MILF's are so well armed and dressed?

Could Gaddafi have anything to do with that?

"It's in tatters, it's in tatters. I don't know how to pick up the pieces."

Try using your hands!

Tatters?

That's an odd word for them to use. Is MILF schooled in London?

Heads-up, unerschrocken; savsiv's on a roll.

Tell it, brudda.

Damn. And all this time I thought a Milf was a piece.

Funny how MILF always starts screeching about how"the peace process is in tatters" immediately after having broken all the conditions of said "peace process". Typical socialist scumbags, kill their own people, fight the police when they show up, and cry to their fellow travelers in media about how the peace process is not working.

Time to do a Pershing on their 7th century a$$. ;)

Philippines -- (UPDATE) It appears that the Philippines have had enough of the MILF. The latest is that the Philippines military has poured more troops into Mindanao as it warned Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels to "get out of the way" of pursuit operations against two of their commanders who led attacks in two provinces, an official said.

An additional Army battalion was sent to augment the thousands of troops that have been hunting down Commanders Ameril Umbra Kato and Abdullah Macapaar alias Bravo, said Brigadier General Jorge Segovia, acting chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) command center.

The Philippine Navy has set up blockades to prevent the rebels from escaping while the Philippine Air Force will conduct air raids, when requested by ground commanders.

Asked what could happen if the MILF would ignore the military's appeal, Segovia said: “Anybody who will
support these groups that we are pursuing, and will join them, sympathizes with them also becomes part of our operations.”

"Even in simple terms anybody who harbors the fugitive becomes liable. It's that simple," he said.

The North Cotabato fighting has left two soldiers and 31 fighters killed while the Lanao del Norte attacks left 28 civilians, three soldiers, and a policeman killed, the military said.

AND WHERE HAVE WE HEARD THIS BEFORE:

Brigadier General Jorge Segovia said "We tried all the peaceful means necessary for some of the groups, this is the only language they understand so we are talking to them in that language by using military operations.

OF COURSE DID THEY THINK THE MORO ISLAMIC LIBERATION FRONT WAS GOING TO OBEY THE LAW OF THE LAND:

Reports said the MILF attacks were in retaliation for the Supreme Court’s decision to stop the signing of the memorandum of agreement on ancestral domain between the government and the Muslim rebel group.

Philippines are in deeper trouble than they realize if the above photo was taken not in Mindanao, but in Manila.

How about we support the Phillipine Army and let them impose the kind of peace the islamics like to spread.

Kill them until they quit fighting and then there will be peace.

I'm not sure whether it was the same general mentioned in the article above, but a few days ago I watched the Phillipino-News channel and one general came on saying "what's the point in negotiating with people who will attack you every time they don't get what they want?

I wonder if the Phillipine goverment understands the statement 'walk a mile in the shoes of Israel'.

The Phillipine goverment needs to look at Israel and see how this is going to turn out, stop listening to Western politicians, ban the religion, and crush the uprising.

It is no coincidence that muslims have their 'Peace' signs and banners ready right after muslim terrorism.

And someone inform the muslims that the 'white dove with an olive branch' symbol is from the Bible.

These sights we see of muslims braindead protestors in the Philippines will be seen in places in Western Europe followed by Canada and worse in the US, ie Deabornstan.

sheik yer'mami - good to see you back. Your site is still not up.

Isn't that if Muslims are less than 2% of the population, they are trouble free?... I normally agree with the mathematical predictions.

That angry face above the "Peace" sign (depicting a dove, no less - aren't doves haram?) says it all.

I think "peace" is another one of those words that don't translate as one would expect. It seems that Islamic "peace" is something different from the term "peace" as we know it.

This is a start.

But we'll know the non-Muslim Filipino polity has worked out what it's dealing with, when it states flatly that it will no longer negotiate with any Muslim entity, full stop, because it has become aware of the fact that no Muslim entity ever negotiates in good faith with non-Muslims, and that Muslim entities are solemnly forbidden by their religion to enter into any permanent agreement with non-Muslims nor to ever permanently accept any relationship with non-Muslims other than one in which Muslims rule, absolutely.

When the Filipino government works *that* out, they'll be free of confusion and able to work out what to do to defend themselves and start rolling back the jihad.

Here's the news item that *I* saw on Australian news online, just before coming over here.

Philippines cancels peace deal with rebel group

Posted Thu Aug 21, 2008 5:27pm AEST

'The Philippine Government has cancelled a peace deal with the country's biggest Muslim rebel group after fighting broke out this week but is willing to renegotiate, a government spokeswoman said.

'The peace deal, agreed by the Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) last month, was later halted by the Supreme Court pending a verdict on an appeal by Christian groups that it was unconstitutional.

'Earlier this week, about 40 people were killed when MILF renegades, angered at the stalling of the agreement, attacked two towns in the volatile south of the country.

"The cancellation of the memorandum of agreement is a painful step in our collective effort to come to an agreement with the MILF," Lorelei Fajardo, a spokeswoman for President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, said in a statement.

"She [Arroyo] will seek a new agreement within the boundaries of law set within the constitution.

"Furthermore, the President will not allow adventurism by MILF forces to pressure [the] Government to sign any agreement even if it is for peace."

(Notice, in this report, that whereas AFP likes to use 'restive' to describe regions afflicted by jihad in S Philippines and S Thailand, Reuters has here used 'volatile'. Me, I'm just waiting for the day when an MSM outlet bites the bullet and writes "jihad-wracked" for such areas.)

Come on, Filipinos. Make our day. Tell the Moros (Muslim 'Moors') flat out that all negotiations are at an end; unless they unconditionally surrender they will be pursued, and hammered, and you will not give up until they are destroyed. Then we can award the Philippines Government the Anti-Dhimmi Award of the Year, First-Class.

Good letter in jpost.com:
Sir, - Your editorial "Lessons from Islamabad" (August 20) was one reason I like The Jerusalem Post. In it, you refuted the canard repeated by Pervez Musharraf and others that the region's problems stem from the Palestinian problem and instead cited Islamic extremism.
This makes sense. Most national entities in the region are just a few years old - Pakistan since 1948 and Palestine since 1967 - whereas the Islamic identity is much deeper, reaching back over 1,000 years. One should therefore examine Islam, its texts and tenets and its internal dynamics.
The more liberal writers tend to ignore Islam and concentrate on relatively tractable national issues, in contrast to the more realistic, and pessimistic, conservative pundits who correctly put Islam first.
Always follow General Sun Tzu's sage advice: "Know the enemy."

The angry peacemonger with dove and olive branch. She doesn't know her Old Testament too well, because the dove and olive branch are Biblical imagery, thanks to Noah.

Go Philippines!! Deus [YHWH] Vult!

I have a dog in this fight. My husband's brother is married to a delightful Filipina: a devout Catholic, hardworking, funloving, wonderful cook, keen gardener, a jewel of a woman. When they married they did it properly, at her parish church, in the Philippines, with a HUUUGE Filipino-style Catholic wedding, a massive family party, and hordes of relatives; my husband was best man, my daughter was a bridesmaid (one blue-eyed blonde in the midst of a bevy of dark-eyed Malay-Spanish Eurasian beauties), and others of our family went along too so that the bride's kinfolk could see that she would be safe: she was being welcomed into a loving, decent Christian family.

Given my experience of my sister-in-law, the glimpse of Catholic Filipino culture she's given us, and my encounters with the many other Filipinas who have married Australians (I meet them among the other mums doing 'kid pick up' at the local primary school), I cannot endure the thought of the fun-loving, creative, passionately Catholic Filipinos and their beautiful country being swallowed up by the Nothing, by Mohammed's horrible Abomination of Desolation.

So: to any Filipino non-Muslim reading this - love and prayers, hugs and fraternal kisses from Australia, may all the holy angels (especially St Michael the warrior) guide and protect your soldiers and police and local leaders (such as mayors) and give them wisdom and courage.

Maybe one day Australian soldiers will fight elbow-to-elbow with yours to roll back the Jihad, just as they fought the imperial Japanese in World War II.

Question to Filipino readers - how many mosques are there in Manila? How many Muslims in Manila?

Now might be a very good time for Filipino police and intelligence services to conduct surprise raids on all mosques and 'prayer rooms' and 'Islamic schools' and 'Islamic centres' and large Muslim-owned commercial premises in the Philippines - especially those that are *not* in Mindanao, but in the central and northern islands (Luzon, Mindoro, Panay, Samai) - and search them from attic to basement. If weapons or any other evidence of criminal and/ or seditious activity are found: bulldoze all such premises and declare them closed, permanently.

Mosques are not innocent places of worship. They are the fortresses, arsenals and war rooms/ indoctrination centres of a totalitarian closed cult that believes in killing defectors and murdering or enslaving anyone who refuses to join its ranks.

I love the defiance exhibited in so many of the posts above. It replenishes my spirit and makes me think confidently that there is no way the Islamic totalitarian ideology will ultimately prevail. Thanks to so many of you for fighting the good fight.

Peace process, my ass. No quarter for the Islamic terrorists. They either live under the same law as the rest of the Filipinos, leave or die. Muslims are trash and deserve no special laws. Can't they stop fighting and killing and leave us alone?

dumbledores,

A couple of years back, the President of the Philippines made Ramadan a national holiday.

"...on ancestral domain..."
From the article.

"Ancestral" being defined, no doubt, to include the time period that extends only as far back as the arrival of the Muslim invaders, but to exclude the earlier inhabitants of Mindanao. Same story as in the Middle East.

Lurker and occassional poster here.. I haven't been able to check out JW as much as I'd like to recently, so I find it very interesting to see a couple of articles on the ongoing conflict in the south of our country.
Dumbledore, I'm pleasantly surprised that you have Filipino relations and that you've had a sampling of our culture. Once again, on behalf of Filipinos everywhere, your support and prayers are greatly appreciated.
I cannot for the life of me find a reference as to the exact number of Muslims in Manila. I've been wondering about that myself. The NSO website simply mentions that out of a population of 1.6 million in Manila proper, 11% are described as "other" regarding their ethnicity (as opposed to Tagalog, as well as Visayans, Ilocanos, etc...). I think it would be safe to assume that this 11% would include various ethnicities as well as foreign nationals living in Manila. If I were to make an educated guess, the percentage of Muslims in Manila would likely correspond to the national total, that is 5% of the population.
I haven't come across any reference as to the number of mosques in Manila either, but the largest one would be the Golden Mosque in the Quiapo district, where the Muslim community is concentrated.
Regarding our soldiers fighting side by side, I do believe that they are at least working together. I just read an article which mentioned that the Australian SAS has helped train some of our special forces units. As you mentioned, this is keeping with a distinguished history of cooperation between our two countries dating back to World War II, through the Korean War, through membership in the now defunct SEATO ( which should probably be revived), up to the present war on jihad. Long may this alliance continue.
