Yet again we hear that a Muslim aiming to commit violence was mentally ill -- as we have often heard in freelance jihad cases. Why "mental illness" seems again and again to play itself out in this way when found among Muslims is never explained.
"Cyanide victim 'not a terrorist': family: Ottawa man with schizophrenia was in Denver on a vacation, sister says," by Andrew Seymour, Andrew Duffy, Gary Dimmock and Neco for The Ottawa Citizen, August 14 (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):
OTTAWA - An Ottawa man whose mysterious death in a Denver hotel room is under investigation by the FBI was diagnosed with schizophrenia three years ago, his family revealed yesterday.Preliminary autopsy results show Saleman Abdirahman Dirie, 29, may have died from exposure to cyanide, a rapidly acting chemical described by one expert as "the ideal terrorist weapon."
Denver police confirmed yesterday that the jar of white powder found in Mr. Dirie's hotel room contained sodium cyanide, the crystal form of the chemical.
The incident has raised disturbing new security concerns on the eve of the Democratic National Convention, which is to open in Denver on Aug. 25. The convention will officially nominate Illinois Senator Barack Obama as the party's presidential candidate.
In Ottawa, Mr. Dirie's sister told the Citizen that her brother suffered from mental illness, and she angrily rejected any suggestion that he was tied to terrorism or had any intention of harming Mr. Obama.
"He was not a terrorist," said the sister, who declined to give her name. "We don't want to hear that word, it hurts us. It is against our religion."
Her brother, she said, had travelled alone to Colorado for a vacation. The family, she said, was devastated to learn that he had died in his Denver hotel room.
"He was just going on a trip," his sister said.
"He just told us he wanted to go on a vacation and then we heard our brother had died," the sister said.
Mr. Dirie's sister said her brother had been doing well since he began receiving treatment for his illness at the Royal Ottawa Hospital about three years ago.
"He was fine. He was just a normal person."
Her brother was taking his medication regularly when he left Ottawa, she said, and was not suicidal. She did not know how or why he would have come in contact with cyanide....
"He was fine. He was just a normal person."
i hate to tell you this, but muslims are not "normal people".
It is against our religion
maybe somebody reading MSM believed that, but i don't
And the mandatory "no connection to terrorism" charade goes on, and on, and on..........
The Denver media has completely buried the Muslim angle. He's described as a "foreigner" or "Canadian" - you know, like Dudley DooRight or something.
The claim of mental illness is not surprising and it's not uniquely Islamic. It's become the standard answer to why someone commits murder or any other heinous crime and many non-Muslims have used it. No one is responsible. It seems every defendant has a "mental defect" or "mental illness" which takes away from him all capacity to reason and to understand the implications of what he is doing and it means he cannot be held responsible for his actions. Thank the lawyers and judges.
Muslims are just following our lead. Claiming mental illness makes the perpetrator more sympathetic and it deflects blame from the Muslim community.
I don't know what everyone is worried about- carrying cyanide is what everyone packs when on vacation. Pardon me, but just how stupid does the (so-called) mainstream press think the public really is?
Ok...Ok.
We give all the psychos a couple of pounds of cyanide. Well they "were" normal people.
"He was not a terrorist," said the sister, who declined to give her name. "WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT WORD, IT HURTS US. IT IS AGAINST OUR RELIGION."
To which I reply:
Qur'an 008.060
YUSUFALI: Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, TO STRIKE TERROR INTO (the hearts of) THE ENEMIES, OF ALLAH AND YOUR ENEMIES, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
Hey lady, you might want to let the false god allah and his dead false prophet Mo in on what Islam is really about ... because apparently the Qur'an says it's about STRIKING TERROR into the hearts of those who don't believe in allah.
Last time I checked, STRIKING TERROR is the key to -- ta da!!! -- TERRORISM.
Gee. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
I really can't stand LIARS...
Since "mental illness" is used again and again to excuse each muhammedan from any consequence to their jihad, perhaps it time the mental health profession needs to reassess their methods of treating all devout believers of Islam who are seeking professional treatment by contacting Homeland Security or the FBI or Immigration officials of potential dangers.
justamomof4, I'm afraid you put too much faith in Homeland Security, the FBI, and ICE. We can all imagine how seriously they take the Islamic ideology.
But I liked the sentiment.
Oh, and lady ...
And as for "not wanting to hear" the word "terrorist" ...
I don't really want to hear about 9-year-old little girls being raped and/or beaten by their 'husbands', punishment for the rape VICTIMS if they don't have enough people to confirm their story (or simply for making the accusations public), female genital mutilation, honor killings, Jizya (extortion), beheadings for changing religions, hangings for alleged sexual promiscuity or perversion, suicide bombings, or planes flying into the World Trade Center or Pennsylvania farms ... etc., etc., etc.
Sounds like the ball is completely in Islam's court.
If Islam didn't command it's adherents to be vicious, violent, raping, extortionist thugs (except to one another, of course ... that's where the 'dignity and respect' part actually applies, according to the Qur'an - too bad the Dhimmi apologists don't realize this), we wouldn't have to use the word 'terrorist' to describe your dead brother.
You know what it reminds me of, when a Dhimmi gets on TV or whatever to say how Islam is The Religion of PeaceTM, and how the Qur'an is really a peaceful book full of love and tolerance? That episode of The Twilight Zone ... "To Serve Man."
Is mental illness an exclusion in a terrorist act?
What if he was schizo and a terrorist?
interestinconundrum:
You got it. Islam is, in fact a belief system that fosters and relies on all forms of aberrant behavior to survive and prosper. It is neither sane nor rational by any modern standard.
This is why I believe it is a devil-centered cult, not a religion.
So the stroy goes,"A mentally ill, schizophrenic, terrorist, kills self." That about covers all bases.
"She did not know how or why he would have come in contact with cyanide...."
Must have been the Jooooooz who planted it there.
What if he had succeeded in his task?
Would the headlines read...."Thousands Dead by Cyanide Poisoning, But Wait, Terrorist Was Loony, Never Mind"
He was crazy, yeah, that's the story. Move along now, nothing to see. You are hurting his sisters feelings. Shame.
Death of a Saleman. I wonder who will be the lucky errrr... stiff to get THAT room for the Democratic Convention. Hope it's 'Kos.
So what kind of schizophrenia did he have?
What symptoms drove him to the mental health department?
What medications was he on?
All unexplained.
Do to modern medications, we don't see many classic manifestations of schizophrenia. Hebephrenia, with its inappropriate laughing and giggling, sometimes violent, usually reacting to 'voices', catatonia and it's extreme form 'waxy flexibility'. Then there's simple schizophrenia, and paranoid schizophrenia. All these people are disorganized, confused, and not capable of formulating a plan. Except the paranoid. But their ability to formulate is usually limited to short term reactions. Because of their tendency to act out, paranoids are the most dangerous.
The paranoid usually has to have treatment thrust on him. He is too suspicious to volunteer for mental health, and he's not about to take any of that poison the doctors want to give him.
His motto is, 'You are out to get me so I am going to get you first'...Most paranoids hear voices, and will react to them...if it's God talking, look out.
Medications do not 'cure' schizophrenia, they act as chemical restraints. By restraining some symptoms, the afflicted becomes less symptomatic and easier to deal with. This works well with symptoms like 'waxy flexibility', but not all that well with the paranoid.
So was Dirie a paranoid to a psychotic degree?
Did he here the voice of Allah?
Why would he want to take meds to stop that?
So maybe it just boils down to...You don't have to be a dangerous paranoid to be a jihadi, but it helps...
Of course he was mentally ill. Jihadists are by nature raving luantics who seek the destruction of Western Civilization. Anyone who straps on a bomb vest and walks into a crowd of women and children and blows themselves up is, by definition, nuts.

"It's a cookbook it's a cookbook!!!!!"
"We don't want to hear that word, it hurts us. It is against our religion." (spit....)
Oh please!! This "religion" she speaks of (cult in our language) not only condones taking Infidel lives, it urges them on to take them.
Thank God this guy killed himself somehow, I dread to think of the consequences had he not screwed up.
Of course, had the plan come to fruition (if it was aimed at the DNC), the Dem's would be blaming everyone but the Islamofacists.
He merely wanted to get rid of ants.

Duh, mentally ill people engage in the Public Square every day. I don't mean this pejoratively, since recall that USA's greatest president, Abe Lincoln suffered from bouts of severe depression. I am sure we could fine a couple Congressman who suffer from Schizophrenia. See famous people with this condition. http://www.schizophrenia.com/famous.htm
The story also begs the question as to where he got the cyanide? If he is competent enough to get it himself, he obviously may have been competent enough to commit murder. If he was sick, one might also ask whether Jihadists provided him with the cyanide and helped shape his delusions toward murderous intent?
There is much about this story that needs investigation, but alas Canadians are so bullied by the politically correct that the media is too frightened to write much critical about the Muslim community and its propensity for violence in the name of their supposed god of peace.
The Ottawa Citizen said: "An Ottawa man whose mysterious death in a Denver hotel room is under investigation by the FBI was diagnosed with schizophrenia three years ago, his family revealed yesterday.
"In Ottawa, Mr. Dirie's sister told the Citizen that her brother suffered from mental illness, and she angrily rejected any suggestion that he was tied to terrorism or had any intention of harming Mr. Obama."
"'He was not a terrorist,' said the sister, who declined to give her name. 'We don't want to hear that word, it hurts us. It is against our religion.'"
What a lot of disinformation packed into one article. First of all, where's the proof? Some woman who refused to be identified tells the newspaper this story, and they print it. What does the Royal Ottawa Hospital have to say? What doctor was treating him? When and how often, and for how long? And where's the proof that this person is really his sister? I'm thinking of calling the Ottawa Citizen and claiming to be another relative, and telling them that he and his wife and young daughters had all converted to Christianity, and that their imam's thugs had kidnapped them, and raped, killed, and dismembered the wife and daughters; but that he had managed to escape and fled for his life to Denver, where they caught up with him and killed him. I wonder if the O.C. would print that little fable.
As for his being mentally ill, that's probably true; any Moslem who remains a Moslem when in a Western country where they are not forced to do so is indeed mentally ill.
And then there's her last little outburst: 'We don't want to hear that word, [terrorist] it hurts us. It is against our religion.' This sounds like it's straight from the public-relations manual of some Islamic propaganda outfit. I'm sure they don't like to hear the word "terrorist" associated with Islam, so she's right, there. And it does indeed hurt "them" -- the Islamic campaign for conquest -- to have infidels associate terrorism with Islam; so she's right again. But then she goes so completely wrong when she says it's against their religion. Well 2 out of 3 may be a good average for free throws in the NBA, but on a final exam, it's only 67%, which is a D in my book.
Why "mental illness" seems again and again to play itself out in this way when found among Muslims is never explained.
Self-evident, actually :)
Perhaps we could call it something neutral, like:
Black Stone Disease
Not neutral? Oh...
ebonystone, I totally agree. What's next? A cry of "he fell through the cracks"? by the health professionals? Just wait, I betcha a buck that's next.
No. He's a terrorist. I don't think anyone can take the FBI or Homeland Security seriously in cases like this. They have pissed away their credibility.
By the way, nobody 'goes to Denver' for vacation. They go to Colorado.
One wonders if he took the cyanide with him on vacation. Perhaps in his toiletries case, cleverly disguised as tooth powder.
WATERBOARD....ENTIRE....FAMILY
How could you tell jihaddi outlook and schizophrenia apart?
In point of fact the family's assertion that "He was fine. He was just a normal person." argues strongly that, diagnosis notwithstanding, the guy was a jihaddi.
It's one thing when you have delusions about pink elephants and purple monkeys.
It's another when you have delusions about evil man-eating Joooooz.
The fact is that corrupt and irrational philosophies break the mind and produce many of the symptoms of schizophrenia and psychosis. Especially in the context of a mass movement.
I suppose having the devil constantly whisper in my ear, just like Mohammed, would make me pretty schizophrenic as well.
It might incline me to...murderous intents?
BTW, you can be nuts and not have a political point of view, or you can be nuts and have a political point of view.
So the whole article (as do most discussions of insanity) begs the question of what else is in the mind and character of the person -- in this case what his political point of view was, and how that might have figured in his decision making.
There's no medical law that says that nut bags can't have political, or religious opinions.
Nuttiness does not generally explain much all by itself.
One of these days our luck is going to run out and murderous Muslims like this who expired are going to kill a lot of people here in the U.S.
Then again maybe thats what it will take to get people to take the Muslim threat seriously. That Muslims are no friends of the West but a mortal threat that has been at war with the West for over a thousand years.
waltc,
Our luck ran out fifteen years ago. But then "only six" people died.
Three thousand dead in one morning was enough to get our attention for a few months and then we forgot all about them again, so next time it will have to be thirty thousand or more (the number that could very easily have been killed in the FIRST WTC attack, if there had been a big enough bomb).
We were lucky the first time and the second, only in that in both cases the death toll could easily have numbered in the tens of thousands.
I'm afraid it will take the destruction of a city for us to get the message, and even then you can expect to hear the jihadist/leftist cabal blame it all on the US government.
Work accident?
I just heard about this on FOX News.
Saleman Abdirahman Dirie's hotel, the Burnsley, was just blocks from where the Democratic convention is to be held, and he had enough cyanide in his possession to kill *thousands*.
FOX noted that there had been a posting by an Abdirahman Dirie on a Muslim web site about a disagreement between Muslims and Christians in Somalia, and that Dirie "took the side of the Muslims".
Well, that is bland phrasing. These were actually comments about the murder of a Somalian Christian blogger:
Dirie wrote: "Please don't talk s**t, that man (the Christian blogger) deserves what happened to him, simply because having a bible in one hand is not a correct thing,! Kill them, kill them, kill them, that is my message,! (odd punctuation original)
Now, it has not been confirmed that this is the same man, although surely Abdirahman Dirie is not a common name. And the sentiment--"kill them, kill them, kill them"--seems very much in line with the actions of a man with over a pound of pure cyanide in his room.
I'm just glad it seems that he had a "work accident" before he could unleash his chemical weapon on nearby Infidels.
Muslims are waging Jihad on us as their religion commands, but the authorities will not recognise them for they are unless there is a direct link with al-Qaeda. Unless such a link exists, there is no terrorism.
Jihad ofcourse is no longer even in the terminology of the UK and US security services.
"'He was not a terrorist,' said the sister, who declined to give her name. 'We don't want to hear that word, it hurts us. It is against our religion.'"
no it isn't...
Oh, duh_swami, your reference to Hebephrenia had me in stitches, mistakenly reading it as "Hebephobia" as I did.
I can see Monty Python doing something with that.
If he was mentally ill, why would they let him go off on a vacation to a foreign country alone? Weren't they worried that something would happen to him? Do all Muslims travel with cyanide? I guess it was for religious purposes(wink, wink).
Has his mental illness been actually confirmed beyond just the word of his family?
It's a rather convient excuse, but does not answer how, or from whom, or why he came into posession of such a large amount of cyanide.
Sounds like a lot of mental illness in the Muslim circle.
Some have said that it may take another tragedy to make people wake up. But I'm really afraid only more excuses would be made.
For those trusting the FBI and DHS to protect us, if this incident doesn't fully get your attention, please read "Infiltration" by Paul Sperry. Be forewarned, it will scare the allah out of you...
Ironically, immediately after making the previous post, I came across this quote:
The conscience of the world is so guilty that it always assumes that people who investigate heresies must be heretics; just as if a doctor who studies leprosy must be a leper. -Aleister Crowley, author (1875-1947)
Wow, Crowley was seeing almost 100 years into the future!
I'm just glad it seems that he had a "work accident" before he could unleash his chemical weapon on nearby Infidels.
Posted by: gravenimage
I'm worried that he may already have unleashed his chemical weapon, and that the pound of cyanide they found may be the little bit that was left over.
Do you think that there is a link between the Somali cyanide and Tyson's Food Somalies?
So how did they determine that AlQaeda et al don't allow schizophrenics to be suicide bombers? Are they not fit for the job? They had better get busy and think up better excuses than that one.
