Confirmed: Not a Methodist, in an update on this story. Just another "misunderstander" of Islam, and one more misguided interior spiritual struggler in the ranks of the Tiny Minority of Extremists.
"White Muslim convert arrested over 'Gordon Brown assassination plot'," by Nigel Bunyan for the Telegraph, August 26:
The 25-year-old man was arrested at a flat in the Whalley Range area of Blackburn, Lancs, shortly before 7am on Tuesday.
He is believed to be a friend of two other men arrested by counter-terrorism officers at Manchester Airport on August 14.
The pair, who had been about to board a flight to Finland, live less than 100 yards from the home of the suspect held on Tuesday.
A fourth suspect, also from Blackburn, was arrested in Church, near Accrington, shortly after the arrests at Manchester Airport.
All four men are being questioned about a posting on an Arabic website that often carries messages from senior members of al-Qaeda.
The message, written in English, allegedly included a threat to target "all the political leaders, especially Tony Blair and Gordan (sic) Brown".
It appeared only briefly on January 24 and purported to have been written by Shaykh Umar Rabie al-Khalaila, who described himself as "the leader of al-Qaeda in Britain".
The latest man to be arrested changed his name when he converted to Islam four years ago.
Decent Fellows Alert:
A friend, who asked not to be named, said he was surprised by his arrest.
"He is a good lad," said the 25-year-old businessman. "I used to see him at the mosque and he doesn't have extreme views".
He was not surprised that police had made another arrest. "I've seen plainclothes police hanging around in cars for a few weeks now".
Police broke down the door to the suspect's flat at 6.40am. The property lies behind a butcher's shop and next to an Islamic bookshop.
Specialist search teams from the Lancashire Constabulary began a detailed search of the premises. They are not expected to complete the task until the weekend.
The three men arrested on August 14 are being held in Manchester. Counter-terrorism officers have until Thursday to decide whether to charge them, release them or seek an extension to their custody.
The mother of one of the arrested trio insists that her son is innocent.
Mariam Kanmi, 50, said her son, Ishaq, 22, a teacher, was arrested as he prepared to fly out to Helsinki, where he was due to spend the month of Ramadan at a conference.
"My son is an innocent boy and we are a well-respected family here," said Mrs Kanmi. "He is not involved in terrorism.
"He hasn't incited anyone to kill Mr Brown. He hasn't plotted with terrorists. We haven't even got a TV here or the internet.
"He was going to Finland for Holy month. There was going to be a grand opening but he has missed that. He's been going there for six years. He always teaches abroad"....
According to the following article (in Finnish) one of the suspects had visited Finland several times.

Mother of the 22-year-old suspect told the Daily Telegraph that he was coming to Helsinki in order to "teach muslims".
According to Iltasanomat Finnish Police is investigating the suspect's ties to a Finnish islamic organization. (which wasn't named in the article)

....standard Muslim denials when caught red handed..
hmmmm....converted to Islam...hint number one
changed his name (Muslims love to change their names..in fact, many have multiple names) probably hated his non Muslim name and felt ashamed to be of Christian descent...hint number two
reading known violent jihadist websites and posting plans to kill infidels...hint number three
associating with other known violent jihadists in the Blackburn Islamic no-go areas, most who responded on a recent poll that they felt violent jihad was necessary ..hint number four.
UK should do more than just making some piecemeal arrests...they can start saving their boat by banning Muslim Immigration...
With apologies to Lennon/McCartney:
I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to destroy the Albert Hall
I'd love to blow you up....
Perhaps he was after the sympathy vote? Brown is remarkably unpopular.
Blair almost got "peace in his time" for his role in the slander, scourging and crucifiction of Serbia. The English Sociopath just does not learn from history lessons, does he? Not even from the dramatic, costly one of Munich. The Western Sociopath appeases The Thug at the expense of friends, because his very nature drives him to do so. And it is against The Sociopath's nature to believe that appeasement of evil is counterproductive. No matter how many times appeasement blows back in his face, The Sociopath, whether America's Clinton, or England's Blair, or Spain's "coservative" Joze Maria Aznar who was every bit as bloodthirsty toward the Serbs as Blair was, thinks that he was not appeasing enough, so he "tries, tries again" as Chamberlain did in Munich 70 years ago. We now know that the explosives for both 3/11 in Madrid and 7/7 were supplied by Kosovar Albanians:

But look what the poor Serbs do:

Don't the Serbs ever learn? Don't they get it that the Western democracies repay good with evil?

pulsar - I too saw those standard denials. We hear them, virtually word for word, as if they're all reading from the same script, every single time a jihad plotter is captured.
I would have liked to know which mosque the plotter/s used to attend, exactly. It's time the newspaper reporters started naming and shaming the relevant mosque or mosques, every time some pious regular good-boy mosque-goer is caught up to his neck in jihad plots - or any other kind of criminal behaviour.
I do hope the police are going through that mosque - and, too, the Mosque or school or Islamic Centre that Ishaq Kanmi was going to be teaching Islam at, in Finland - from attic to basement, with a brace of sniffer dogs and every other kind of detector device.
Points to remember, for the journalist and for the police.
The word 'good', as in the phrase, 'he was a good boy', does NOT necessarily mean, for Muslims, what it means for non-Muslims.
In "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades", p. 7, Mr Spencer observes concerning the Quranic dictum [Surah 2: 214] 'persecution is worse than slaughter', which was used to justify the Muslim Raid of Nakhla (which violated a sacred truce month) by arguing that the victims had opposed Mohammed and that punishing this sin took priority over all other considerations:
"this was a momentous revelation, for it led to an Islamic principle that has had repercussions throughout the ages. *Good became identified with anything that redounded to the benefit of Muslims, regardless of whether it violated moral or other laws.* {my emphasis added - dda}. The moral absolutes enshrined in the Ten Commandments, and other teachings of the great religions that preceded Islam, were swept aside in favour of an overarching principle of expediency".
In "The Truth About Muhammad", p. 99, Mr Spencer reiterates the point - "This [the raid at Nakhla which violated the truce-month] was a momentous incident, for it would set a pattern: 'good' became identified with anything that redounded to the benefit of Muslims, and evil with anything that harmed them, without reference to any larger moral standard".
Likewise: what Muslims regard as 'terrorism', and what they regard as 'innocence', or 'guilt', are entirely different from what non-Muslims think of when they hear those words.
'Terrorism', for pious Muslims, is something that *only* kafir do; indeed, from the jihadist POV, the British police are performing an act of terrorism when they prevent a jihadist from carrying out his mission to subject Britain to Islam and impose sharia law. One might argue that 'terrorism' is *only* 'whatever harms Muslims'.
And so, with every air of being deeply offended, Ishak Kanmi's mother exclaims: "It's wrong that he's being held".
All Muslims qua Muslims are 'innocent'. All non-Muslims, all 'kafir', are by definition 'guilty' - guilty of refusing to embrace Islam or, failing that, of refusing to submit to Muslim domination and/ or impeding the imposition of Muslim domination; these heinous crimes deserve every imaginable form of punishment up to and including torture, mutilation, and execution.
Furthermore: 'war is deceit'. So, besides the statements we've already considered, that may have one meaning for Muslims and a different meaning for non-Muslims (the friend's and the mother's claims of the 'goodness' and 'innocence' of the accused), let's consider the rest of the mother's speech:
"He hasn't incited anyone to kill Mr Brown " {but that doesn't mean he wasn't planning to do it himself!}.
" He hasn't plotted with terrorists" {of course not: the kafir police are the terrorists - people planning jihad are just performing their Islamic duty to advance Islam, which is good}.
"We haven't even got a TV here or the internet" {well: *that* can be checked; but just because his parents' house may not have a TV or an internet connection, means nothing; what's to stop him using them at someone else's place? - indeed, that would be the smart thing to do - internet cafes are all over the place - and I'll bet the mosque has a TV, dvd player, and internet connection}.
I wouldn't be in the least surprised if the mother, and the friend, knew exactly what Mr Kanmi was up to, and are merely running interference for him, like all good Muslims are supposed to do, to protect Islam from perceived attack and further the long-term interests of Muslims.
Wait a sec...the 'teacher's' mother said he is 22, and has been going to Finland to teach there for 6 years.
He must have been a child prodigy or something, because that would mean he graduated from university when he was 16.
I know it's different in non-western countries, but to be a teacher in the west, one must have a qualification.
I guess I might be thinking of the wrong sort of teacher though...
Moreover, as one post pointed out - about the changing of names when one becomes Muslim - when will people start to see Islam as a form of colonialism?
Change your name to Arabic (what, God only speaks one language?) then....bow to Arabia (can't get more imperialist minded than that!)
The problem they are so angry, my friends, is that they believe they are....(laughs)...superior!
Sorry. No go. While I see the potential of every human being to be equal, it all comes down to how we're programmed from birth through our surroundings.
Sorry, but the values taught by that religion are often twisted and vile, and explains everything about the state of the racist pit that is the Arab world, accurately.
The war on Islam (ooppss, that's terror) hasn't even started yet! It's time to ban all forms of oppression, no matter how revered.
If Islam had 100 followers instead of 1 billion, it would be outlawed as a death cult and banned.
It's simply because of the numbers game that westerners have to show this barbarist (I was going to say philosophy, but just as the Pope quoted of the byzantine emperor - there is nothing in Islam but violence and hatred and the bits stolen from other religions - the good bits) colonialist creed any respect.
It's embarressing. They know our values are superior yet leftists tell them theirs are just different?
What utter garbage. John Bolton for President! Or me, although I'm an Aussie so likely couldn't run, right?
