CAIR puts on a happy face for Ramadan

CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper shows off his new look

In "Muslims celebrate holy month with charity, service projects," September 3, Cathy Lynn Grossman supplies USA Today readers with what is essentially a CAIR press release, focusing on Muslim charity to non-Muslims and "outreach programs." As if to emphasize the impeccable character of this charitable endeavor, the USA Today story carries a link to charitynavigator.org, showing that Islamic Relief USA outperforms similar non-Muslim charities.

So what could be wrong? Only a greasy Islamophobe could find something objectionable in charity outreach, right? Well, I can't help but think about some of the things that Grossman left out of her story:

She makes no mention of CAIR's questionable history: the terror convictions of various former CAIR officials, the supremacist statements made by some of its leaders, or its derivation from the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), which is listed as an allied organization in the 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memo detailing a "grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Above all, the USA Today story says nothing about an earlier CAIR foray into charitable giving: its connection with the Holy Land Foundation, which was shut down for funding Hamas. Right after 9/11, CAIR's website featured a donation button for the HLF -- earning it "unindicted co-conspirator" status during the HLF's trial last summer.

One would think that at least some mention of that would be pertinent in a story about CAIR and Muslim charitable giving. But for whatever reason, Cathy Lynn Grossman, like virtually all of her mainstream media colleagues, do not find any of this fit to print.

Muslims across the country are marking Ramadan, the holiest month of the Islamic year, with charity and outreach programs.

The Council for American-Islamic Relations, the Washington-based advocacy and civil rights group, is urging Muslims to invite their non-Muslim neighbors to join them at an iftar— the evening meal when Muslims break their dawn-to-sunset fast during the 30-day holiday, which began Monday evening.

The idea, says spokesman Ibrahim Hooper, is to increase understanding of Islam by sharing the experience of Ramadan, when Islam's holy scripture, the Quran, was revealed. Observing the fast is one of the five pillars of the faith, along with submission to God, pilgrimage to Mecca, prayer and charity.

Many Muslims make charitable gifts during the month of Ramadan, and service projects are also popular. This year, hundreds of Muslims around the nation will serve the hungry and homeless at Day of Dignity events in 18 U.S. cities. The events are coordinated by Islamic Relief USA, based in Buena Park, Calif.

"The Council for American-Islamic Relations, the Washington-based advocacy and civil rights group, is urging Muslims to invite their non-Muslim neighbors to join them at an iftar..."

...said the spider to the fly

I'd rather join them for the pre-sunrise deluxe big breakfast gluttony.

All they ask is that you eat in the dark.

I guess we've all judged them too harshly.

11,775 Islamic terrorist attacks since 9/11 should now be absolved in exchange for some coffee and donuts.

Maybe they can purchase and replace the red cross vehicles that they've destroyed while using them to conceal some of their bomb attacks?

From headline: "....is to increase understanding of Islam....."

Get real. If you want to "increase your understanding about Islam", then avoid the sugar-coated meals at sunrise that are designed to soften your brain, and stay tuned to the Truth about Islam by visiting websites like this one. Jihad Watch brings you current news events, but CAIR likes to cover up these stories therefore covering up the Truth. I mean come on, these news stories don't lie, but CAIR does.

....excuse me, "evening meal", whatever...

I don't think I will show up for any Islamic prepared food, free or not...

I prefer my own organically prepared tofu burgers...I know what has been sprinkled on them...

Absolutely DECLINED!

When will it become - politically incorrect to say Ramadan - as people have other religions - you know !!

Not fooled. Ever.

I would advise Cathy Lynn to visit Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, or maybe even Dearborn, Michigan for an up close and personal islamic experience. Sophisticated, savvy reporters should know a snowjob when they see one. It's a shame that the media totally ignore the newsworthy escapades of the CAIR clowns and other islamic fifth column groups because they're determined to convince the American people that muslims are normal, nice people.

The big, fat smiley face couldn't have come from CAIR; those sneering muslim creeps never smile except when they're plotting our destruction or celebrating a successful terror attack. Ramadan only exacerbates the rage, hostility, and resentment that seem to be inherent in muslims, and looks more like a pagan gluttony fest so muslims can gorge themselves twice a day to compensate for missing one meal. After the hunger pangs come the indigestion and heartburn. How do they have time for reflection, meditation, and self-improvement when all they think about is sex, food, and bellyaches?

A number of Muslims, or people married to Muslims, who work for city governments, have apparently sent out notices to everyone -- Muslim and non-Muslim alike -- using their official emails -- to suggest that everyone participate in the celebration of Ramadan. This is, I think, exactly the kind of entanglement of government with "religion" (let's agree to call Islam, for the nonce, a "religion") that the First Amendment was designed to prevent.

If you have any evidence, as the employee of the Federal, state, or city government, that someone has attempted to use their authority to persuade others to "participate in the community" or "boost the community" by "joining in celebrating Ramadan," please post examples here. But do more than that. Please call the relevant officials, and local journalists, to discuss the attempt by some -- we have had examples in Houston and in Boston, Muslim city officials using their positions to further the interests of Islam (see the land deal, and the subsequent attaining of Saudi financing, behind the Boston Mosque). Those promoting Ramadan on city time, on city computers, using government email accounts, should be told this is very likely a violation of the Constitution, and opens the city up to a lawsuit, and should be stopped at once.

This is what that wise Jew, Jesus, Yeshua of Nazareth, had to say about almsgiving, and about prayer, and about fasting. Every word of it is flatly contradicted by Muslim practice.

Note: he condemns 'hypocrites' (i.e. 'show-offs', 'play-actors') within his own Jewish community - this does *not* mean a blanket condemnation of Jews or of Jewish practice; his words are best understood in the tradition of the prophets (e.g. compare Isaiah 58 on what constitutes a 'fast' pleasing to G-d) as a typical example of ruthless Jewish self-criticism.

Matthew 6: 1-7.

"Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen by them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

"Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

"But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth; that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly."

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly".
"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
'Be ye not therefore like them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."

Verses 9-13 comprise the Lord's Prayer; verse 14-15 adds a comment - " For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses'.

Then verses 16-18 discuss fasting:
"Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites [i.e. the 'show-offs'/ 'play-actors'] of a sad countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily, I say unto you, they have their reward.

"But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."

PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN WITH THE GRENADES AND THE SUICIDE VEST BEHIND THE CURTAIN!!!

I wonder is there a noticeable drop in the level of violent Jihadi activity during the month of Ramadan? Once this Month of Ramadan is over should we expect a rise in violent Jihadi activity against infidels? The stealth Jihad continues either way.

...is to increase understanding of Islam by sharing the experience of Ramadan, when Islam's holy scripture, the Quran, was revealed.

The Qur'an was revealed over a period of 23 years. Am I missing something here?

One of these fine Ramadan afternoons, I'll be near the local Masjid al-Taqiya, grilling all the finest of Middle East foods. Of course before sunset. Just doing my part as a culturaly understanding citizen. Ramadan Mubarak, Fellow Kaffiroon!
