NEW YORK (AP) — A federal appeals court says it was constitutional for the United States to require visitors from two dozen Arab and Muslim countries and North Korea to register with immigration authorities.The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan issued its ruling Wednesday in cases brought by several men who claimed their constitutional rights were violated.
The program was put in place after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It required males from 24 Arab and predominantly Muslim countries and North Korea to register.
The requirement has since been phased out, but the database of information still exists....

They should have kept that process going.
The bad news is that it will require another attack, probably more severe than 9/11 to revive this activity.
Which 24 Arab countries? Is Saudi Arabia one of those? if not, like the phony "war on terror", that whole "program" is a farce.

If they want to have the rights afforded by the constitution they should (a) get in line to become a citizen and submit whatever proof of loyalty to our constitution as may be deemed necessary, or (b) do what it takes to enact a similar constitution in their own countries. If they need some ideas on what should be in their new constitution and what's worth fighting for, here's a good idea to start with:
Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
When the World accepts our constitution as its governing document and embraces the principles embodied in it, the World can claim its constitutional rights in the US. Until that happens, these guys and the other Citizens of the World (when it benefits them) can take a hike...
... which is exactly why we have Amendment 2.
My wife and I went to Paris in November, 2000, and stayed two weeks with a friend whose wife was spending a year at a university there. He had to check his status with immigration officials at a specific time on a specific day once a month, or face deportation, and he was very cautious about not being late for his day with the bureaucrats when it came up while we were his guests.
The three of us are native Americans, although my friend's wife is a naturalized citizen, born in Romania.

Because the leftists (who think we're a nation of greedy, rightwing, white, capitalist, hate mongers that just stubbornly refuses to sing kumbaya with the rest of the dear, sweet, peace loving world) work with…. well, greedy capitalists and politicians with tunnel vision who want cheap labor. Few in any of these groups seem to think about, or maybe all believe they are immune to, long term consequences. I'll bet that's what the victims of the French revolution believed too. I'm guessing a lot of them are literally in for the surprise of their life.

For an equally shining example of the irrational belief that there is little difference between the flow of capital and the flow of labor see George Soros, Bill Clinton, George Bush I, George Bush II, John McCain, and nearly every other politician and business leader on both sides of the isle.
Capital and labor are not the same. Tens of millions in excess capital can go back into the business, or into another investment, or into another house.
Tens of millions of excess laborers who don't share your values can wreck your financial system, your political system, make your money and possessions worthless, and kill you. And that doesn't count the illegals hidden within that great mass whose only purpose is to vaporize a city or two, and force us to comply with Sharia.
I like money too, money is good. Just not as good as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
All should think long and hard about what Obama appointed judges would rule in similar cases should Obama (God and other higher things forbid) be elected President.

so l guess there will need more 9-11's to make the law permanent? l read where Obama want the gov't to contact any group of muslims,etc who were under survielleince to be notified that they were notified. if the O wins, you will see more of these laws passed, and the big one will hit the US!
I'd really like to know...just how long we're going to keep bitching and start a new Revolution. I see no difference these days than what the founders faced 232 years ago. A government that has a 91% DISAPPROVAL rating...a POTUS that has a 75% DISAPPROVAL rating. A Congress that's so far removed from reality that it's arrogance is breath taking. We have 535 members of government that are either completely dusfunctional or treasonous! We have burdensome taxation without representation. We have borders that are unsecured....a militant and arrogant political ideology masking itself as a "religion" just as the Nazi's thought of themselves as a world wide "religious" movement. I can think of no country other than ours...that didn't dismantle, dismember or abolish a "government" with this complete lack of confidence and faith in it.

Glenn Beck rocks! I watch him every night religiously. He very provocative, concerned about our nation and I would vote for him if he ever ran for the White House.
