Surely only pontificating about the "greater jihad" against the self?
Just another instance of a mischievous young man rejecting turn-the-other-cheek-Christianity for Islam, as the latter better comports with his "primordial" instincts? The oddest revelation about this story is that Muslims murdered his parents, and his Christian grandparents took him in and raised him. Yet, for all that, he rejected Christianity (the faith of those who rescued him) for Islam (the faith of those who murdered his parents). Not too surprising when one considers that most Muslims today, who are otherwise such staunch defenders of Islam, had forefathers who were compelled or killed in order to join the fold of Islam.

"I really felt empty inside when my career peaked at 25. I thought that when I made it and had the money and mansions, I would be happy, but the more I got, the emptier I felt." It was then that Napoleon found peace in Islam. The 30-year-old today lectures around the world about his experience and educates youth against misleading interpretations of hip-hop and gangsta culture.
"I want to bring my family out of America to a Muslim country where I can hear the adhan [call to prayer] five times a day," he said.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on October 11, 1977, the former rapper was born to Muslim parents: Father Salek Beale and Puerto Rican mother Aquillah Beale who converted to Islam under the influence of Malcolm X in the ’60s. However, they had to pay a heavy price for following Malcolm X when he disassociated himself from the Nation of Islam.
When Napoleon was three years old, his parents and his two brothers were murdered in front of him by former friends and members of the Nation of Islam.
Napoleon then moved in with his Christian grandparents and his remaining two siblings.
Turning Point
In 1994, he started rapping and fortune smiled on him when he met Tupac Shakur and started rapping with him. The Outlawz were formed and the talented lyricist released five albums with the group who signed with Death Row Records after the tragic demise of Tupac Shakur in 1996.
"What really saddened me was to see the young boys here trying to be gangsta and aspiring to wrong beliefs and idols," he said.
"Three years ago, I came to Abu Dhabi to meet my in-laws and start a business in Saudi Arabia. But I ended up staying here for four months. I will be moving to Abu Dhabi within the coming year."
Today, Napoleon is a father of two boys, Salek and Mohammad, and is married to a Yemeni-born Canadian.
I hope he likes what he sees over there. Because he sure as hell can't change his mind, or he will be treated with the same respect that his parents were.
Christianity simply allows you to choose your own destiny and face your own consequences without outside intervention, and keeps forgiving you when you make mistakes. Where is the discipline in that?
When you are fed up with your debaucherous lifestyle, why not convert to a religion where you can kill people who don't make the same choice you did?

Would I be remiss if I expressed some mild annoyance that I'm seeing so many irrelevant bugbears get dragged into the Jihad Watch headlines? What does opposition to the Jihad have to do with taking potshots at gangsta rap? Or, for that matter, with advancing Christian truth claims (August 4) or insulting homosexuality (August 23)? As orthodox as Robert's own Christianity is, and as seriously as he takes it, somehow he manages never to say any of those things when he writes at Jihad Watch. Not that I mean to insult or silence anybody, but I'm disappointed that things have changed.
I'm a rapper and rap fan; Mut'ah Beale is a name I've heard before. He's a conservative Muslim, but we have no way of knowing he's a jihad supporter. We can't be sure of his beliefs about jihad unless we hear him say anything about them.
Given that he hasn't, and that, in public, he's only ever preached about the "greater jihad", how is this a story that concerns jihad at all? He may well be a closet jihadist on the level of Tariq Ramadan, but we have no way of knowing that-- this isn't Khalid Yasin we're talking about, he's a rapper for God's sake.
He probably does believe Islam's truth claims, in the sense that Robert (and you, Raymond, if I may be so bold) believe the same about Christianity. And of course Islam's war doctrine means that a devout Muslim is more likely to do violent or hateful things than is a devout Christian. But Mut'ah Beale doesn't do violent things anymore. This story doesn't really involve the jihad, and it appears to me that it has no point other than to randomly insult an ex-gangsta rapper, because many Jihad Watch readers dislike gangsta rap.
Sorry if folks dislike my tone-- but this is my gut response.
And also-- in mentioning that Robert "somehow manages" to avoid discussing his own beliefs in the content of Jihad Watch posts, I wasn't meaning to be derisive, as if to imply that he has to fight imaginary nasty instincts to do so. I meant to applaud him, because his commitment to keeping this site nonsectarian and free of bigotries, against Islam or otherwise, is something I greatly appreciate.
I'm not trying to silence anyone's speech, either. Say what you like. I'm just registering disagreement.
This guy has it made. He can move to Islamdom and fulfill his fantasies. If and when he admits that they are nothing BUT fantasies he and his family can come right back to the US. He and the kids are American citizens. I imagine the wife has a green card or has become a citizen. Look at why he's moving: so he can hear the call to prayer five times a day. Don't Muslims have sufficient discipline to pray on their own without being told it's time to come in? Does no one have a watch?

This is a case of double standards. The man made his money and then decided to get religious. He's not alone there. Many people have but, if he had his druthers, would HE stop YOU from making a living the same way he did?
Would Mutah Wassin Shabazz Beale, AFTER making his money and setting himself up for life, stop you, Funky Child, from going the same route because it is not in keeping with Islam? Islam has been interpreted in such a way as to prohibit music.

Shortly after I began visiting this site and studying Islam I came to believe that Islam is especially dangerous because it, like Nazi theology, gives young men not only the justification, but orders them to live out the basest of their human instincts; unbridled violence, power, greed, and selfish sexual gratification. Anyone who has attended a violent middle or high school should understand that this is a prescription for Lord of the Flies on steroids behavior. It is an incredibly seductive lure for many males, particularly young males. I have a harder time understanding why women are attracted to Islam, but then again I've never understood the attraction some women have thugs and "bad boys" in general.
Previous generations learned the hard way that it doesn't pay to allow either the weak or thugs to gain access to the apparatus of the state; whether it is schools, the legal system, or the military. Maybe these types of lessons just cannot be handed down from generation to generation, maybe learning the hard way is just a natural part of the human condition. It almost seems as though it's a natural law that as societies succeed at becoming ordered, peaceful, and prosperous they become increasingly enamored of Leftist utopianism and Marxism, which again makes them vulnerable to thugs… and the cycle repeats.
What a loss for our nation, what a loss for multicultural harmony, what a loss for the bright tapestry of vibrant cultural variation!

If he really wanted to make a difference he would go to inner city areas on his own turf and tell those kids about the mistakes he made.
