Iran: Establishment miffed as Barbie dolls retain popularity over "Islamic values" dolls

Well, Barbie got to be an astronaut. Do Sara and Dara at least get to work in the nuclear program?

"Iran: 'Barbie' doll beats Islamic 'Sara'," from AdnKronos International, September 25:

Tehran, 25 Sept. (AKI) - Iranian children seem to prefer the popular western dolls, Barbie and Ken, rather than the Islamic Dara and Sara dolls, that were created to instill Islamic values.
"This data is a clear sign of a failed policy adopted by the government with the aim of stopping the western cultural invasion," said website 'Tabnak', which is close to Mohsen Rezaii, former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
The Dara and Sara dolls are modestly dressed and wear Islamic garments, but have failed to make a name for themselves unlike their 'western' counterparts, Barbie and Ken, which can be found in one out of every two Iranian children's rucksacks and notebooks, claimed Tabnak.
Dara and Sara were marketed by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, a government agency with links to the Ministry of Education.

"Do Sara and Dara at least get to work in the nuclear program?"
Of course Marisol, thats why they glow in the dark. ;-)

This affinity by the youth for new things, especially nonMUslim new things is really driving the Islamic clerics more insane than they already were...

The obvious Islamic solution is to kill Barbie and Ken. Let's see a show of hands.............who is willing to write the fatwa?

Funny how the Islamofascist countries always talk about a "Western invasion" which doesn't include any actual Western immigration, just products that the average Muslim prefers over the crap his/her own country produces. On the other hand, large scale immigration to Western countries from Islamofascist countries is a real invasion, but polite company refuses to admit it so.

She is described for us in the canonical texts of Islam as playing with dolls and sitting on a swing when they came to get her. She was, after all, only nine years old.

So what would little Aisha do were she alive, aged nine, today, and playing with dolls? Which dolls would she prefer? Bad old Barbie, reminiscent of Pamela Anderson (and perhaps Tommy Lee could be the Ken doll), or nicely middle-eastern Dara and Sara? And what if the dollie little Aisha preferred was not to her husband's liking? What happens then? Would he, the Perfect Man, perhaps tell her she could no longer play with dolls at all, because while idollatry might be forgiven in a little girl, it was intolerable, it was strictly haram, in the case of a married woman?

Can't they just dress up Barbie in a Burka?

Think of the money Mattel could make, repackaging Barbie wearing a black burqa!

Accessories offered could include a niqab (for indoor wear, around the house), a blue "shuttlecock" burqa (for a change of pace from the traditional black), and a chador (for those romantic evenings alone with hubby, on the private balcony).

Barbie is already anatomically correct in keeping with Islam, so what's the fuss about, Iran?

All kidding aside, this is a good sign as these little kids are thinking for themselves and making choices in their best interest, not in the best interest of Iran, the mullahs or the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.

Rock on little Muslim kids! Enjoy that free thought while you still can.

Initial polling shows that Dara's Tehran Dream House never took off because all it featured was a bureau covered with hairbrushes, and cowering behind it got old quickly. Further, despite strong focus group research, the Mahmoud doll's realistic whip accessory was a complete marketing failure.

"Islamic Dara and Sara dolls, that were created to instill Islamic values."

Are Dara and Sara first cousins? Isn't that a requisite for marriage?

I don't know.............I do know that Sara is probably at a "marriageable" age...........

This afternoon, at the Institute's marketing roundup meeting:

"It doesn't make sense. They just don't want to cower, cringe, scuttle, plead and cry, and we haven't seen a single good submission to beating yet in supervised play. We're doing something wrong."

"Package 'em with a couple prayer mats. Collect all four, make 'em nice and flashy. And maybe Mahmoud's on to something with the Beat 'n Bake Oven. I love the Hubby Wants You Right Now interrupt timer on the thing, it's so ... so deen."

"Barbie is already anatomically correct in keeping with Islam, so what's the fuss about, Iran?"

Good one, Abscedere!

Can the Dolls be in mixed company or does one have to stay in the box when the other is out?

Oh another question, do they have a change of clothes or is that immoral?

Sara and Dara.. are they lesbians?

Iranian Ken must've gotten kicked to the curb since he looked like Mahmoud.

No wonder the ladies over there prefer each other's company.

Actually both Western and Islamic versions are equally haram:

From 'Ask the imam'

1. Generally toys that do not have any animate pictures or are not shaped in
an animate form (like dolls) may be given to children. Dolls may be given if
the head is removed.

ImNoDhimmi,

I once saw a photo online, of a healed FGM. The first thought that came into my head, was that now the victim looked just like Barbie... It was a sad observation, but so appropriate.
