As this report shows, Ramadan prayers are no different than the Friday khutba, in that they both often incite the believers to violence. In related news, the British PM reminded the Brits that “Ramadan teaches patience and humility, and reminds us of our shared moral universe; our obligation to others."
"Ramadan prayers end in Kalandiya riots," from the Jerusalem Post, September 5:
Some 100 young Palestinians rioted at the Kalandiya checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, on Friday, shortly after the first communal prayers of Ramadan.The Palestinians hurled stones at IDF troops and border policemen deployed in area, prompting the security forces to take crowd control measures. No casualties were reported.
Simultaneously, there were two disturbances near the security fence, near Ramallah. Some 150 Palestinians gathered for the routine anti-fence protest in Ni'lin, in which, as usual, security forces were pelted with stones, and a similar but smaller demonstration was held in Bi'lin.
Meanwhile, near the village of Yata, south of Hebron, an Israeli vehicle was damaged when it was struck by stones thrown by Palestinians. No one was wounded.
Also on Friday, around 90,000 Muslims congregated on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem for prayers, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. He said "thousands" of police were deployed around the city to prevent any disturbances.
Citing security concerns, police restricted the entry of Palestinians, banning men under 45 and requiring many women to produce valid entry permits. In the past, some Friday services at the site have ended in riots. Thankfully, no disturbances were reported in the area this time.
Ah, Ramadan....my favorite time of the year.
I can just hear the mullahs sweetly calling, "put away your bombs and your swords and your anger.....come to mosque and be refreshed with messages of peace and love from the Almighty One."
" Then go out and kill EVERYONE."
“Ramadan teaches patience and humility, and reminds us of our shared moral universe; our obligation to others."
-- from the statement issued by Gordon Brown in praise of Ramadan
There is no "shared moral universe" when one of the sharers is Islam, or adherents of Islam. They do not -- Ali Sina has an excellent comment on this at faithfreedom.org -- observe or even think it worth trying to observe -- the Golden Rule. They are taught to regard the essential division of humanity to be that between Muslim and non-Muslim, Believer and Infidel. There must be uncomrpomising hostility between the two, and the ultimate goal of all Muslims should be to make sure that all obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam are removed. Non-Muslims under Muslim rule will be given a choice: death, conversion, or -- in the best case -- life as a dhimmi, which means a life of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity, relieved now and again only by a benevolent ruler who might relax the rules (see Akbar) for a time, that is might, for a time, be a Muslim willing not to behave as a thorough-going Muslim.
What does Gordon Brown mean by a "shared moral universe"? What, aside from monotheism, do Christians and Jews share with Muslims? And how important is that, really? Do Christians and Jews have more, or less, to fear from presumably polytheistic Hindus than from monotheistic Muslims?
He knows the answer to that.
"Some 150 Palestinians gathered for the routine anti-fence protest in Ni'lin, in which, as usual, security forces were pelted with stones,..."
A "routine" riot, and some cops stoned "as usual". Ho-hum, another normal day in the Moslem world.
Violence following Muslim prayer? No surprises here, since praying to allah invokes evil & satan into ones life & soul. Believe it or not, satan is real, folks.

"... the ultimate goal of all Muslims should be to make sure that all obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam are removed."
by Hugh
But then why the antipathy toward the West? There are no obstacles to the spread of Islam in the West. Muslims are free to propagate their faith, anywhere. If there are obstacles, they would seem to lie in the East, primarily in Russia, China and North Korea.
The difference lies in how to define "dominance". If Muslims would just go on about practicing their faith and restricting it to the mosque, the dominance would take care of itself. Instead, what they seek is hegemony and, after that, the elimination of all other religions. The idea that no Muslim can answer to an infidel is a self-defeating one. It puts others on guard and forces them to put up obstacles. Muslims need to learn that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
just another day at the office!
Seconding Hugh.
I've read the discussion he mentions, by Ali Sina. It's very instructive - and deeply saddening - and I recommend it to all who may be new to this site, today or in the future.
It's true - horribly true. Islam DOES NOT TEACH the 'Golden Rule' - 'do to others as you would they should do to you' - in the universal form that it takes in all other major world religions and philosophies. Rather, as Hugh says, it divides the world into two: there are people (muslims) whom one may treat decently; and then there are the nonpeople, the kafir, to whom one is free to do...well, anything.
One of the loci classici is Surah 48:29 of the Qur'an: "those who follow him (Mohammed) are ruthless to the Unbelievers but merciful to one another".
(Note: this is the Dawood translation, published by Penguin; the word that he here translates as 'ruthless' is given by other translators as 'harsh' or 'stern'; I understand it could even be translated by 'cruel'). Yusuf Ali waters it down: "those who are with him (Mohammed) are strong against Unbelievers [but] compassionate with one another".
The cardinal rule for Muslims is al-wala we' al'baraa - 'loyalty and enmity'.

Loyalty belongs to the Ummah, to other Muslims; enmity to everybody else. Charity is due *only* to other Muslims; charity or alms may only be given to non-Muslims in an attempt to bribe them to become Muslims.
For a pious Qur'an-Sira-Hadith Muslim, a Muslim who knows the orthodox teaching of their cult, there are Muslims...and then there are the Others, the Kafir, who must be hated, hated, hated, unless and until, worn down by Muslim verbal and physical violence and cruelty, they give in and become Muslims, like a bullied child joining the gang of the Bullies.
It is not at all surprising that during Ramadan, when Muslims are reminded intensely of the tenets of their cult, levels of violence toward any available non-Muslims ratchet upward sharply, as in this riot at Kalandiya.
Surprise, surprise!
Is it just me or is Ramadan and fasting with prayers not just a form of mind control?
Lack of food whilst concentrating on one thing only is the same technique that hari krishna use to brain wash their adherents. The same technique used by cults all over the world? I may be totally wrong here, and would appreciate input from anyone who understands the techniques of brainwashing/thought control.
Now, just for fun, let's try re-wording that Jerusalem Post article for greater clarity.
"Some 100 young Arab Muslims attacked the Kalandiya checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, on Friday, shortly after the first communal prayers of Ramadan.
"The Muslims hurled stones at IDF troops and Jewish border policemen deployed in area, prompting the security forces to take crowd control measures. No casualties were reported.

Interesting what a difference a few words can make.
Mosques are even more militant during Ramadan. In fact, historically, mosques were fortresses and propaganda centers.
And, of course, the mainstream media will give this incident a pass or say that it had nothing to do with Islam. Pfffft!
ah muslims dont need a reason to riot its in there mind when they see see cartoon of thier so caled phroffot or a film like finta telling the truth about islam
NPR radio marked the first day of Ramadan with a story. They assured us that Ramadan is all about family values and Ramadan is "a time of peace".
Go back to sleep, America!
Davemate,
I do not think Hari Krishna is a cult. I do not think they have an evil intent, I think they are just living in an unconventional manner. I think there is information on the net that will shed light on that.
However I do see that Islam is a cult. A cult because it has evil intent for those who are within its fold and those who are yet to be in its fold and those who resist it. So no one is really spared when it comes to Islam because it has already condemned non believers as enemies of Islam who should be killed or brought into the fold or be second class citizens with no rights. Like any religion there are rituals and emotional zeal and chanting. There difference is the intent. The intent of Islam is doing the evil will of allah by killing and subjugating non believers by killing those who would leave the religion. So it is an evil religion the followers have one leader they emulate and that is Mohammad who is considered to the perfect man, we know that is not true.
Muslim riots erupt after Ramadan prayers
That is news?
As dumble has intimated, Ramadan is a time of heightened violence--the "month of jihad," as one prominent cleric put it. Expect more of the same as October nears.
Ramadan: a time of prayer, fasting, and pious mayhem.
“Is it just me or is Ramadan and fasting with prayers not just a form of mind control?”

Much in Islam is geared toward mind control, with the goal of producing “believers” who will unquestioningly follow the tenets of this religion to the letter. No consultation with any “expert” on “brainwashing/thought control” is needed to reach this conclusion - it is as obvious as the sun in the noonday sky.
I have written two leaflets on Islam and Muhammad that I pass out to try and educate my fellow Infidels. The leaflet on Islam contains 20 selected verses from the Qur’an that command violence in the name of Allah. The “mind control” inherent in Islam is addressed directly as the leaflet concludes with:
Think of a young child forced to endlessly repeat these verses, before he can even understand them.
Picture yourself as an adult, ON YOUR KNEES, HEAD TO GROUND, 5 TIMES A DAY - praying for Allah’s help to make the above verses to come true!
Believe that the men who would kill us will sacrifice their lives and sometimes even their own children to follow these verses exactly.
Now, contemplate the following:
Have the Islamic terrorists radicalized Islam - or is it the other way around?
Your instincts are dead on target DaveMate, brainwashing and thought control play a major role in Islam and are in fact essential for its survival.
Freedom and Islam are eternal enemies.
“Ramadan teaches patience and humility"...
Yes, we see the same "pateince and humility" on display in Paris every year in the traditional Islamic "Renault-Roast".
In fact, every Ramadan is accompanies by an upsurge in violence, intimidation and Islamic posturing. However, most of the non-Muslim population in the areas involved would probably disagree that “Ramadan teaches patience and humility".
In fact, crime statistics show exacltly how patient and humble Muslims really are on Ramadan.
...but yet again - as so often when Islam is involvd - the government sees one thing (inceasing violence) and reports another ("patience and humility").
How long until we get governments prepared to face up to what Islam really is? And face up to what causes it (hatred of anything non-Islamic justified and encouraged by the Qur'an).
Is it just me or is Ramadan and fasting with prayers not just a form of mind control?
DaveyGrayBeard is right. And savsiv is wrong. The Hari Krishna are also a cult, albeit a pretty harmless one.
See here, and as to how Islam specifically is a cult, see here.
Cults:
Use manipulative methods to control the minds of followers...
[Perv Mo]used manipulative methods to control the minds of his followers. These methods ranged from threat of hellfire, and promises of paradise, to exhaustive rituals of prayers and fasts, devised to numb the thought, and threat of physical punishment including execution and constant warfare, keeping his followers in perpetual state of agitation. And include restrictions on foot to enter a restroom, 35 instructions for toilet-time, 25 instructions for shower-time, a creepy prayer to say before sex, which can only be had under Sharia sex slavery or in incest with one's daughter or sister, a little boy, or the rape of an infidel (K 2.223) and only in a couple of positions and never while a woman is on her period because 100% of Muslim men are closet cases by definition, to what one can eat and which abhorrent/flamingly homosexual (imho, what with the sucking of one's fingers and all) table manners to exercise, to which creepy clothes to wear, to how to speak, to what to think, to fasting, etc., etc., etc.
And a good rule of thumb is that any group of people who believe in polygamy or who call each other 'brother' and 'sister' are a cult.
~~~~~~~~
And how on Earth do the Israelis still let Muslims into Jerusalem? Even if it weren't the biggest lie in all of history that it were a Muslim holy site (Perv Mo said so himself that he couldn't perform miracles, so the ascension IS complete crap), even if Muslims didn't have a history of exercising opportunism particularly when it comes to declaring others' lands theirs ("Allah grabs the land of the unbelievers"), then they have still fortfeited their right to be there over and over and over. The only time Israelis ever fought in Jerusalem was in order to defend it, and each time the violence was incited by Muslims, going back to the very first Crusade, which was of course also fought by Christians. If they can't respect the land they shouldn't be allowed on it. Which would push them into the sea, wouldn't it?
"All we are saying", is Peace has no chance.
That's right, that Tune, with slight alterations.
The sad thing is, these people don't even recognize each other as believers. Just look at Iraq, most of the violence isn't aimed at the Americans or even the Christians, but at other Muslims! The Sunni Muslims and the Shia Muslims hate each other and blow each other up! I for one am in favor of that, because they they aren't blowing up Jews. Sadly though, rioting after Friday Prayers is not news, we Jews don't go riot after our Shabbat prayers, or our Yom Kippur prayers.
These routine fence protests aren't because of Islam, but because of being in a cage. How would you feel if 85% of your population was dependent for food, water and medicine from an occupying force? Another note to make is that they are using ROCKS. The Palestinian people, both Muslims and Christians, have nothing, so some resort to throwing rocks. No one likes being in a cage, and if I were in their shoes, I'd probably fight back, too. Not all sects of Islam are violent. http://www.alislam.org/ Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, if one digs into all their books and dogmas, one becomes disgusted with them all. Islam is a young religion. It wasn't that long ago that Christians killed "witches", "heathens", and even other Christians (eg: the Caldeans) in the name of Jesus. Perhaps there is a correlation between age of a religion and violence committed.
